Mine has been working great. I've been playing with a red dot on it, but the Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25 56 really hits the sweet spot. The red dot is surprisingly good at 200 and 400 yards. I plan to mount the scope at 12 o'clock and the red dot at 45 degrees. I also upgraded the rubber pad on the end of the stock to a much more padded one from magpul. That made a HUGE difference in the felt recoil on my bony shoulder. Last comment on this rifle is that the muzzle brake is very aggressive so get a good pair of electronic earmuffs, and apologize to the guy in the next stall ahead of time.

I needed a light weight 7.62x51 rifle. The SFAR checks all the boxes. This rifle will be a good travel/ midrange gun. It can take any animal on the continent.

Glad to hear you’re happy with the SFAR too, I’m also a big fan of it. I’m running one on my own 16in SFAR and out of all the upgrades I’ve made that’s one I’ve yet to do, or even have seen before. Btw if ya have thought about getting more cheek weld I found an SL-S stock was far superior to the still darn good SL that it came with, the put a limbsaver recoil pad on the back and maaaan it’s awesome, a law tactical folder with an Ergo grip underneath to perfectly adapt that back end setup to the hand comfortably it’s a perfect fit together. That with a Kyneshot hydraulic buffer has changed the recoil up dramatically for a .308. My M5 setup which is a couple lbs heavier recoils a decent bit more than my lighter SFAR does. With a 1-10x Arrohead on top and a side canted vortex venom I can hit everything from 25-500yds with ease and maneuvering is a breeze. Glad to see more people happy with the SFAR. I know a buddy who is hesitant about purchasing allllllll because the only video he saw on it, Hop’s, gave it an overall negative review. Which is a shame because he probably single handedly turned off hundreds, if not thousands of people from purchasing one. It’s the best semi auto .308 a man can buy for the price, and its even better than a pricier option. It seems like other than the CMMG Dissent nothing is putting a smile on Hop’s face, and he still just threw shade on the rest of its new lineup, man straight looks depressed and uninterested over the past 6 months no matter what. Sure a few hiccups with the SFAR would suck to have, I haven’t had an issue, but the man still should’ve seen potential where it’s warranted. Oh well, every single person other than him has had nothing bad to say, which leads me to believe I’m right and that the man is just not his young n happy self much anymore on camera. I’ll tell ya one thing the SFAR puts a big ol smile on my face.

Picking up mine tommorrow! I have $200 in new upgrade parts waiting for it (BAD Ambi safety, Troy ambi mag release, Geisele Bolt Release, Aero charging handle, BCM-Wilson Mod3 grip, BCM shorty foreward grip). The Slim handguard sucks for light switch mounting, which is critical for my planned battle rifle config (ACOG TA31-ACSS and offset RDO for optics). Another RUclips channel upgraded it with a MI Rail while retaining stock barrel nut with good results. All my rifles have top switches, so Im going to have to spend an extra $150 to get 5-pic rails 😑. Great overview. I'm stoked for your sub MOA groups with good ammo...winner! Thanks and Sub'd!

I've seen a couple with upgraded handguards on it already. Did you end up doing that or find another solution for mounting a pressure switch? I was wondering if a couple rubber bands would suffice to hold one in place. Temporarily probably but ultimately not a reliable solution.

I used it for deer hunting this season and it didn’t disappoint. I’m getting sub-MOA 5 to 6 shot groups at 100 yards (from a sled), using Norma 150 grain soft point ammo…Im currently running a 1-8x24 Atibal LPVO. I just installed the new TriggerTech Diamond single-stage flat trigger (1.5-4.0lbs). All I can say is WOW!!! Be aware of how little clearance Ruger left between their slim free float handguard and their oversized "low profile" adjustable gas block. Mine was actually touching on one side, but measurements showed that the gas tube channel in the handguard is .440" wide and the top of the gas block is .420" wide! If you aren't getting acceptable accuracy, it is highly likely that the gas block is touching the handguard when fired. Mine also had a pretty sloppy barrel to upper receiver fit. After shimming the barrel extension and replacing the handguard and gas block it shoots well. I also swapped the buffer for an H2.

The G2 uses what is basically a shortened large frame 308 Bolt carrier, charging handle, etc., while the SFAR and Rogue/Revolution use AR-15 sized bolt carrier/charging handle, etc.. Nothing wrong with the G2 guns other than the parts are more proprietary.

@@PracticallySquared1 bolts right up like its a reg ar15. it would be a challenge for the user to adjust the setting. but just buy a long allen set. but then again one would either be for suppressed or non. wont be that hard to just unbolt the handguard if anything.

I put an Odin Works 15" ultralight on mine. It required a little bit of carving to clear the longer dust cover pivot pin, but it was easy to do and it's not visible once assembled. I suggest replacing the gas block too. The factory gas block is too large to go inside most handguards including the factory Ruger one. There is no where near enough clearance to insure the gas block doesn't contact the inside of the handguard as Ruger designed it. Just about any aftermarket low profile gas block will allow substantially more clearance.

I know my par times for drills I do frequently with my different guns, the Ruger is significantly slower (lighter gun yet heavier recoiling gun than most my other stuff) but I've never filmed anything. Usually when I go out to do drills I don't have the patience or skill to worry about setting up a camera and recording at the same time as I do shooting. The camera drastically hinders my attention to the drills. I try and separate the two. I'll go shoot a rifle on my own and practice with it, then go shoot some in front of a camera. I'm a one man operation though, if the GF or a buddy is with me I might be able to do something like that so I'll definitely keep this in mind. Thanks for the support!

At this time I'm currently unaware of that. I don't see why I'd personally want to though. It's got a solid barrel capable of doing anything I'd want the rifle to do.

Won't believe it or not with the today's quality manufacturing I mean so many there's over 70 AR producers that I'm aware of in the US and they're making barrels with good equipment and good steel and yeah more and more doing this, furthermore off track but I've seen m1 garands upgraded and customized bedded so forth and switch out the barrels for usually a 762 or 308 barrels and at camp Perry Ohio people are shooting at 10 Ring all day long now the tannering is 2 minute so at 600 yards of 10 ring is 12 in that sounds pretty big but you're not shooting off a bipod a tripod a bench or sandbags you're using a sling you can wear a jacket it helps a tiny bit and you you should military slang really super tight and use your elbows and your body almost like a tripod it's not too hard for the first two or three shots but if you're doing a 40 shot match it's it's a rough on your body believe it or not but the guns will do it a lot of gas guns are they really getting better and better but I agree with you a sub moa gas shooter is is great going to have

I've owned many AR-15 and large frame 308 ARs that would shoot MOA or better. I can only think of a few that wouldn't and they went down the road. The last one was a Savage MSR Long Range Precision. Far too big and heavy to have such mediocre accuracy.
