Hocus Pocus 2 was exactly what I wanted for a sequel! I love this more than the original. the ending took me by surprise I did not expect such emotions for these witches! :O but lets face it they MAKE the movie once again! the other "main characters" are really just supporting characters hahaha. Honestly I thought this was a perfect sequel. Didn’t stray to far or copy the original while still staying true to it and keeping what made the original great. I really enjoyed this movie. Also Mary’s Roombas were a great running gag XD
I have a theory… Mother witch herself used the Power Spell, and that is how she lost her own coven. That is also why book doesn’t want them to use it, since he saw first hand the result/price of using the spell.

I LOVED the fact we were on the same wavelength. Your comments are exsactly what I thought. I had to try and hold my laugh at “sorry got no head” I thought I was the only one! The thriller ref too. The kids got the adult actors on point! But yeah most same wavelength. My friend thought it was good for sequel. The first one more comedic more 90’s Halloween now a days Halloween isn’t that big….maybe it’s just me growing up. But I do like the darker tone and the modern witches as they are around. It’s still a big thing but more spiritual. The ending I was trying not to cry. Oh oh I was very sad there was no talking cat 😂. I just realised it was very desaturated until the 3 witches returned.

My favorite thing about hocus pocus 2 is all the callbacks to the first movie like when Gilbert Said he saw the Sanderson sisters on Halloween night back in the year 1993 when he was a kid and followed them back to the graveyard and witnessed their defeat at the hands of Max Dani and Allison and at the Halloween carnival when they got to perform their big mind controlling musical number and in the end when it turned out that using the power spell to make themselves super powerful would cost Mary and Sarah their lives I knew that deep down underneath Winifreds sour apple flavored shell there's a sweet gooey cherry flavored center in there because I know that despite how Abusive she was towards them and however dumb Mary and Sarah may be I know that underneath it all Winifred really cared about her sisters
I really enjoyed HP2 until the very end. (Spoilers) I don’t think they needed to try to put a good spin on the Sanderson sisters and have us empathize with them. They’re literally silly soul-sucking evil witches and that was their charm in the first movie. Seeing Winnie get all emotional was a little jarring. But other than that, solid movie.
It was okay. Disney screwed up a few times. Did not remember previous dialogues... such as in the first movie Allison reads the plaque for BOOK it says it is Winifred Sanderson spell book and contains her most dangerous spells that the book is bound in human skin and was given to her by the devil himself... in this one we learn it is an older witch also known as a crone who bestows the book on the girls. Or the fact that all the children in Salem would have been under Sarah's song spell on Halloween night so the little boy would have been at the Sanderson house with all the other kids in Salem not at the graveyard so that part of the story doesn't stand up. Just like in the first one when Winifred asks max for his driver's permit she's been dead 300 yrs she doesn't know what that is.... or Mary in this one knowing what roombas are she has been dead she does not know VACCUM technology....

Can we all appreciate how blood thirsty Mary was in this film. Like she was legor ready to cut a bitch at every opportunity. 🤣🤣🤣 I really enjoyed this film, i'm glad they didn't just try and retread the first film, it really was worth the wait and i have theories about two potential directions they could take of they decide to make another.
It was good but not having Dani or any of the other kids from the original is kind of a missed opportunity. I also noticed there weren't really any really young kids in this one. They are all teenagers. I think for the third one if there is one bring back Dani and maybe her brother, also Dani could have kids of her own by now. Oh and maybe introduce some male witches AKA warlocks. They could have their own musical numbers! It'll be great! Who's with me?

I love both films but the first is better bc it was before Disney had to make everything all foo foo for everyone now. (Even Star Wars 😢) for example “What do you call them Max? Yabos? Max loves your yabos” lol and the massive show of cleavage by SJP. She does show a little leg in this one though. Anyway, the feel of the first one was more haunting when the witches arrive. By the logic of the second black flame that was shown in the post credit scene wouldn’t it make more sense after here sisters disappeared to just light the flame and then bring them back and then with the new found power and the reunited coven they take over Salem… and even if she couldn’t find her own flame she could’ve made her own to bring them back which we know is possible because a mortal made one without being one of them or even a witch for that matter.
so i have to ask but um there is a scene where one of the girls says to the jock boyfriend "pointing out peoples differences and saying their weird is making fun of them." um is that true. like i honestly dont know.

The best part of this film was seeing the witches back at it again. They were so funny. And those musical numbers were great!
