Just to add, I think it’s also a good sign you’re ready to start dating when you realize everyone is imperfect and you can accept them anyway. Knowing that relationships require mutual effort and working through those imperfections. Basically, understanding the reality of relationships and not going into it thinking it’ll be like a movie.

I think Ive been letting fear block me from starting a romantic relationship. I need to remember there is a difference between "having it together" and "headed in the right direction." I have this idea that I need to solve my issues/fix my broken parts before I date, but that is unreasonable. Its just easier to believe that than confront my fear
That's true, no one is perfect and most of us are a work in progress. I really tried my hardest in my last relationship. I think my ex didn't realize how much effort relationships take, and he expected me and the relationship to be perfect or close to it... But the reality is there are going to be ups and downs throughout, and sometimes external stressors take a toll. I was willing to work through it, because I felt everything we were dealing with was fixable and the relationship was worth working on, but I guess he felt differently. At the moment, I know I'm definitely not ready to date... It's only been ~6 weeks. I'll probably need at least a few more months, maybe by summer. Who knows.... I'm looking for my life partner, but I have a lot of fear now.
Got 4 out of 5. I have learned a lot from the past and investing in both myself and my values. Only lack of interest in love hold me away from a new partner now.

Dating is scary and exciting at the same time, but it is a sweet experience for you and your partner. ❤️ The first thing you need to do is to know and understand what you want in a romantic partner and secondly, show a lot of love to them, not just through words, but be playful, and just have a nice conversation with them to get to know them.
After being rejected by girls so many times, I’ve took some time to reflect. I realized that I’m not ready for a relationship, but I don’t need to worry about it. Because I can take my time to work on myself and build up so I can be in the right mentality.

I can honestly say I relate to pretty much all of these. Over the past year, I have really made progress in my life and I don't feel as lost as I once did. I think I've really grown as a person and I think I might be ready to take on dating.
Although dating has always been a scary thought for me because I've always been quiet and reserved and never let anyone get that close to me. But I've learned to become more open with the people around me and express myself to the fullest. Who knows? Maybe one day I will meet someone and I hope everyone here does too ✌️

I always find it weird when people congratulate someone for having a partner, like it's not an achievement, it reinforces that having a partner is something we need or need to 'achieve'.

Congratulations doesn't have to be just for achievements right? I think it's fine to congratulate when someone enters into a new relationship because it could be a major milestone in their life, the person they're with now could potentially be their life partner so I don't think congratulations is weird.

Recently, I realized its been a long time since I talk to someone new & its true. I’ve been putting in a lot of work for self care & self love, most of what I never prioritize whenever my head’s off the ground trying to tend to the needs of others; I really want somebody to make that time for me, to give me effort back & say the things to be considered or what I need to hear more then what I don’t receive vs what I tell myself with self affirmations. I’m 29, I’ve never dated before, so this is still an uncharted world I haven’t personally discovered on my own yet, other than the feelings & emotions that orbit around two strangers. I’ve been working on having a healthier outlook vs just looking at what it is for what it is & its been showing back to myself someway positively. In terms of dating however, idk. I want a relationship so bad, but I get so frustrated when I can’t decide for myself to wait or go for it, (it’s agony when your friends tell you the one or the other), I’ve just continued to be patient all this time.

I recently sang/played guitar at my college. Few days later, someone told me there’s ‘someone’ who found it quite nice and wanted to get to know me.
I discovered she’s this gorgeous lady from another class and decided we should meet. She got me flowers when we met (I couldn’t stop blushing). We talked about a lot of things and I feel we connected on some level.
No clue where it’ll go, but certainly starting to feel that I might be ready to date again.

I was in a relationship with someone once and I think they still want me back. I don’t want to get back withe them. They were a pretty toxic person and made it so I didn’t feel comfortable telling them the truth, they would often push my buttons and get in my personal space when I clearly didn’t want them too, after we broke we were still friends but they would still touch me too much for my personal boundaries, they would constantly sit laying against me and I would very clearly not like it, (get stiff, lean away, stop talking, etc.) and they will always ask me like what triggers me and what I don’t like but everything I don’t like is stuff they do like, be annoying, touch all of my stuff without asking, come over and eat our food without asking, being overly touchy (not in an emotional way), wandering off without me there, (at my house, which gives me a lot of anxiety to what they could be doing.), constantly asking me to call when I really don’t like calling which I’ve tried to make clear but I have a really hard time telling people how I feel, and in public get really desperate for attention (like so we’re kinda the ‘weird’ kids and people will constantly bark at us and call us names and they’ll just be rude to them and start arguments that could be avoided if we just walked away.).

I'm 28.. I'm a feminine neutral gay goth and Metalhead guy, I have never dated or been in a relationship... I assume it's because I'm Goth and a Metalhead. I've been a fan of both subcultures for 15 years, I'm not willing to change who I am for some random person, or anyone just so that they will like me.. no can do... I love who I am, I know that I'm a nice, caring, and creative soul who loves nature, painting, drawing, creating music and going to college.. I know that I just want to have friends, or even date, but people see me as a monster, I barely get compliments, many people in my lifetime have said I'm very cute and handsome and I'm a "petite" 5'5 guy... I don't know why I'm not in a relationship, but I do think personally that personality is more impressive and important primarily before looks... I just think that people have high standards for physical appearance and attractiveness.. and sometimes unreasonable ones too... there's a guy who likes me, and likes that I'm feminine, he keeps calling me cute, adorable and beautifully handsome, but my low self esteem won't let me see it because I'm so use to others hating me wherever I go... I've actually told myself to just give up on the thought of finding someone who likes me for me or in general for that matter.. so now if someone does hit on me, I don't feel anything emotionally... I'm just like 🤷♂️.. (ok)

I will say this, some people do not know what that did wrong when they have trouble dating cause to them, they don't see it right away either from brain not processing or from no clear instant answers. Those types of people need an eye-opener by someone explaining what they did wrong so they can learn from it and apologize correctly knowing what mistakes they did.
I know, it seems unnecessary to tell them and you don't know if they'll brush it off or not even acknowledge your words but some people generally do struggle with finding out what they keep doing wrong so they apologize but don't know what they are apologising for therefore they may not learn and make the same mistakes again not knowing. There's fast-thinkers, neutral thinkers, and then there's the slow processing. The slower may need an eye-opener from a friend or from the partner so they learn.
I hope I've made anyone aware of this and will openly tell someone who keeps making the same mistakes during friendships and partners to open their eyes directly.

but i know i’m not ready to date, because i would only give it a go. as in i probably wouldn’t actually like the person, i’d just be in the relationship because i’m bored.

Not sure if anyone'll see this (and to some this may sound weird cause I don't think this is relatable at all but I could be wrong lol), but: I'm confident Im ready to date people/people of my preference, BUT: I've only ever been liked and approached by those of the same race as me (I'm 18 and black if that matters). Not once my whole life have I been an interest to anyone outside of my own party, and its VERY downgrading and, at times, humiliating.
I've started to begin thinking I can only bag guys who are my ethnicity, and thats all im ever gonna get. Good things to know is there's a difference between relationship problems and monetary making you incapable of continuing a relationship. If you see yourself as the problem instead of the of money making it so your not able to fulfill the needs of a relationship.
For example if you had money everything about that relationship would have went well. Than you as a person are not the problem.

I am in a country where the majority of women I've met are extroverts while I am extremely introverted.
So yeah, my problem is not finding someone. That is easy. I get plenty of attention somehow. But more finding someone who understands that I am an introvert. And doesn't force me to go out when I need time to recharge and tries to force me to social when I don't feel like socialising. I can be really social when I am recharged and feel like socialising.
So yeah, I stopped dating like 6 years ago after a toxic relationship and I am happy being single most of the time. Sometimes I miss having a girlfriend but most of the time I am pretty happy.

Unpopular opinion: No one is perfect (obviously 🙄) but if you can't regulate your own emotions, respect boundaries, have your stuff sorted out in your other interpersonal relationships so that it doesn't cause problems for your romantic relationship, feed yourself right, have a job/income/hobby/school etc just generally having your shit together for your own self you don't need to be dating.

I'm not sure if I'm ready since I'm always hesitant to open up to others. I've never been in a relationship, and I never had a crush on anyone.
Many guys asked me out and I rejected them. But I accepted one of them because I wondered if with time I would feel something. But can't say we were really dating, it didn't feel like a romantic relationship, I didn't feel comfortable.
I feel this so much. I've honestly never understood crushes and how it feels to have a crush. Every time that I get into a relationship (which isn't many tbh) it never feels right and then it just ends before anything happens.
Maybe it's just difficult finding the people right for you...
Being in a relationship isn't some obligation or something that must be a goal.
