@@leahcimthgirw3163 yeah, seeing the 80s J-bodies die is honestly something I can't do. Sure, they rusted away, and yeah, maybe they had crap-quality engines, but at the end of the day you can't deny that they did have their place in car history. The Cimarron was definitely the most luxurious, and look at the '85 Sunbird! if they'd maybe have made the turbo engine standard, that thing would've been pretty damn good for it's era, or how about its wing-like headlams surrounding the Pontiac logo? They really don't deserve to just be thrown away, IMO.
Oh, the poor J car. The quintessential example of cheap GM “runs longer badly, than most cars will run at all” transportation. I remember driving one of the very last Cavaliers as a rental, in 2005. It was as crude and nasty as any J car I’d ever been in, with terrible nvh characteristics, garbage-can grade interior plastics, creaky-flexi chassis that almost felt like it had cowl shake. The Colbalt and Cruze that came after weren’t great, but they were a lot better than the horribleness that was the j car.
Looks like that 39 Chrysler was pretty well picked clean. Such a shame those pre war Mopar's are getting harder to find. Looks like it had a pretty solid frame.
I wish I could walk around about week before these cars are crushed and buy random bits by the pound scrap weight. I'd like to have had that spoiler and tail lights from the Firenza an maybe those front inner fenders off of that 64 chevy. Don't blame the yard for crushing these things though, they've clearly been sitting there a long time. Also I enjoy the just plain videos here. No music, effects, random this or that, just what the video title says...crushing cars. I find myself cheering for the windows that fall out seeing how far they make it out of the crusher before breaking.
The chevy impala had a major rust rot problem. It's solved now, it was once a brand new car which was someone's pride and joy, now it will join it's fellow crushed cars in going off to a steel mill to be recycled into new steel products.
Forgot to push in or flip the tailgate on the minivan. Tail lights on that Olds have to be unobtanium, lights, spoiler, cluster all should have come out of it. The other cars were pretty picked over.
I've noticed that first gen Chrysler minivans (from other 1964corvan videos) pop the tailgate like that when they're crushed. There was also a recall on these after several tailgates popped open in rear-end collisions and rear seat passengers were ejected. Coincidence? I think not. It just points out the weak point in the design 😉
Those older Chrysler minivans always crush the same way where the rear hatch opens up early in the crush. There was a design flaw in those where the hatch opens in a rear end collision. This to me proves that.
I know scrap metal is a big industry. And alot of these cars are pretty much either rotted away. Or stripped of parts. But it pains me to watch crushing videos.
That '64 Impala unwittingly demonstrated the safety issues of the old X-frame Chevy used between 1958 and 1964 (that forklift folded the doors like an accordion)...and if you hadn't identified the '39 Chrysler as an Imperial, I don't know if anyone could have recognized it!
Dang that 64 Impala 283V8 sedan was ruuuuuuusty! Still sad to see her and the 39 Imperial get mashed. At least the 64 was rusted behind salvage, and the Impy was stripped.
What's the reason of making a crush video if the loader gonna do it instead of the crusher it's self? That's the reason we watch these videos to see the crusher do it!

That may have been the last Starfire in existence lol
I'd never even heard of it until this video.
It looks like it helped keep another one alive: it went to the crusher without the rear axle or the front suspension 🤔
My first car was a 79 Pontiac Sunbird same body style as this so heartbreaking to see it crushed

Boy that Firenza was probably pretty cool when new 😎
It had a spoiler, graphic decals, a cool trim name plastered on the side....
Was probably a sheep in wolf’s clothing.
Parts off that car are very very rare..shame all the special model specific trim parts were not removed.$hit happens...lol
The brochures of that thing in 1979 looked sick asf

The window off that oldass Caravan at the beginning took one hell of a tumble before it shattered lol.

Glad to see video of forklift operators 1st day
It's sad to think that these vehicles were once somebody's pride and joy.
The only time I see first gen Dodge Caravans these days is when I watch these videos.
Very therapeutic to watch, great video.
Hurts to see that Impala as bad as it was. May it rest in peace.
Surprised nobody took the grille from the '64 Chevy.

That's not a Impala, it's a wet noodle 🤣 was as flexible as one
I dunno about pride and joy, it went down with an ugly ass set of snow tires on the back wheels. Looks pretty put away wet to me 😉

Man, the 64 Chevy was so rusty that the right rear quarter panel popped out with ease.
So what do they do with these cars after they’re crushed?
they get send off. so that new stuff can get made out of the scrap.
