Y'all seem to love this video...Please take a moment and tell me how you found it? I love and appreciate all of you for watching and hope you have a safe and Blessed rest of your day. - Greg
Did a search for “jello mold” 🤷🏼♀️ Great recipe!! I’m going to add pistachio instant pudding and shredded coconut and garnish with maraschino cherries for Christmas this year. So retro🥰
I can't believe I found this Salad!! My Mom always made this at Christmas dinner!! She always put it in an oblong dish and cut it in squares, but, this is good also. Thank you for sharing this long forgotten Lime Jello Salad!! It is so good!!
I use cottage cheese. Crushed drained pineapple and chopped pecans. Delicious. Oh a splash of lime juice. Prepare lime Jello don't let it set up completely add cottage cheese pine apple and chopped pecans. Pour into a bowl stir well to blend and place in refrigerator to completely set up. Wonderful
My sweet mama made hers exactly this way, well except no nuts. My daddy was allergic 😢. After I married I put chopped pecans or walnuts in mine. Sweet sweet memories ❤
My mom made this but she didn't use the marshmallows. She used extra cream cheese, and cool whip. She added chopped pecans in and sometimes maraschino cherries. My grandma found the recipe in an old magazine back in the mid 1930s and it was called Washington Dessert back then because the recipe notes said it was good enough to be served in the white house. We still make it frequently and sometimes use cherry, or orange jello. It's a winner and you just can't go wrong with it. Loved your video🥰
Cherry, orange, or any flavor you like. If you read my original comment you will see it's a slightly different recipe because it does not use marshmallows. But you can use any jello flavor that you like. You just can't go wrong with it....soooo good😋😋
I am so grateful to have found this video through The Hillbilly Kitchen. My grandmother and mother both made this for our family Christmas dinner over many years. Sadly, time passed and other dessert trends came about but now I have the opportunity to share it with my children and grandchildren. Thank you for keeping the traditions going!!
My Mother made a similar thing she called it congealed salad but she used 1pk of lime jello, 1pk of lemon jello, 1 cup mayo(I add little extra), 1 small can of condensed milk, 1 can of crushed pineapple and crushed black walnuts. Now she would always triple everything because at holidays there was alot of people. And I to this day still have to have it at holidays t 60 years old and don't have no one but myself.
THANK YOU!!!!My grandmother always made it with strawberry Jello and we called it “pink stuff”. I’ve looked everywhere for this recipe! Southern Living used to have this recipe online and I’ve looked the past several days for this exact recipe! Now I can make it!
I have been looking for this recipe. My girlfriend made this green geletin dessert one day for our potluck. It brought memories to my mind. It is delicious.
Looks great I I am happy to find this receipt not using cottage cheese I love lime flavor thanks for posting this nothing like the old time receipts have a blessed day
My Mom made this too!! It was so good She also made a jello with clear gelatin made with ginger ale and cut red grapes in the 1970s Ring jello was a popular side dish then 🤣
Oh this is my favorite dessert for the holidays. Mom always made it now I do. She always put it in the copper mold and put cherries in the bottom indents.
I remember my Mom making this too, and she would put it into individual molds and she would place lettuce on a small plate and then the yummy salad. For special times. I always thought that was so neat and pretty, for each person to have their own.
48 years ago my Grandma Green in Tennessee made this for Christmas it was a hit. She has long passed away the recipe lost. I was just a young girl but, I can still remember the delishness of this dish and have so longed for the recipe. I am so grateful to have seen your video and I will now be able to bring it back this Christmas. I have seen other recipes yours is the real deal. I must say you also remind me of my Grandma Linnie Green and what it was like to be in her kitchen brings back such fond memories. Thank you & Merry Christmas💚🎄
I have made this pretty much the same way. I got the recipe from my Aunt . She always made it for Christmas and I made it every thanksgiving. It is always requested. We knew it was seafoam salad. My husband asks for it in between also. It is a wonderful dessert or side or just an afternoon snack.
I love lime Jello and lime Jello salad. I can't believe you mentioned "Dream Whip". Most people don't know or realize what that is. I remember it well from the 70's. I will make this after my husband goes to the grocery and gets me some lime Jello and the cool whip. I could make fresh whip cream but not sure how that would hold up. I will follow your recipe. Thanks for the nostalgia!
I'm a 75 year old man. My wife loves this during holidays. Two questions. What temperature for water before mixing? And how long jelling in refrigerator or freezer? Want to make some for her this weeknight. Thanks & Blessings. Tom-Charleston, SC😊
I love your video. I am going try this real soon. I hoping it will made a great summertime dish. Mom made a lot of Jello but I don't remember this. I am so excited about this.
My mom always made it with 1 cup hot water to dissolve jello, 1 cup of vanilla ice cream, can of pineapple with juice, top with pecans. It is the best!!
I have made this lime salad for years but in an easier method. Mix one package lime jello into a carton of cottage cheese, mixing well. Add a can of crushed , drained pineapple and a can of mandarin oranges. Mix gently. Added chopped pecans and finally add a tub of cool whip. Mix thoroughly. I have also used orange jello and we liked it, too.
My mom used dream whip. Still think it tastes better than premade but extra work..... Thank you for this recipe.... I'm going to make it using cottage cheese rather than cream cheese. 👍💜
I was raised in a girls orphanage in Lynchburg Virginia and there we would have a salad Jell-O salad that they put shaved carrots and celery in it and it was some kind of good . I can’t remember how it was made and that was somewhere around the early 50s.
I know I'm a year late but I was scrolling through best Jello salads and this came up! This is the one I'm looking for but... ice? Why not cold water? Do I stir til the ice melts?
When we moved to Florida from Washington state, we always said pecans The way you say it. But we were told by locals thats something Granny’s keep underneath the bed. The proper terminology is.Ba-cons! 😂
✍Hello...I call this Green Jello Fluff and made it for New Years Day today 2025. I use 1 box of Jello Pistachio pudding mix, 1 lg.can of crushed pineapple with the juice, 2 cups of Cool Whp, 1-1/2 cups of chopped pecans. It also calls for 2 cups of mini marshmallows but I leave them out cause it makes the Jello salad too sweet. Mix all together and refrigerate.
I’ve been wishing I had this recipe for years. Every Thanksgiving at MawMaw’s house, she served this with dinner. She let it set up in a rectangular dish ( I think it went further). What joy to have found this recipe! Thank you!
I looked and didn't find the recipe. I hope you put it on Herr. See my grammar made something like this. But I swear there was cottage cheese in it. I could be wrong.
Ingredients: 1 large package Lime Jello 1 1/2 cups water 2 1/2 cups crushed ice 2 cups mini marshmallows 1 small tub cool whip® 1 8 ounce package cream cheese at room temperature 1 cup crushed pecans 1 can of crushed pineapple drained. Make jello according to instructions on box. Once the jello is heated through, dump in the marshmallows and mix till dissolved. Remove from heat and add in the cream cheese and stir till dissolved. Add in the cool whip and pecans. Mix well to combine. Add in the 2 1/2 cups crushed ice and the pineapple Transfer into a large glass serving bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Put in refrigerator until it is set up. Link to Print recipe: gregkantner.com/blog/archives/12376
I apologize, I don't know what happened. we updated some files and must have left out the recipe on this one, it is back below in the description and also on my website at gregkantner.com/blog/archives/12376 . Again, I am so sorry this happened Tinny, have a great rest of your weekend.
@8:14 that's not nice, tricking her like that. I'm lactose intolerant and if someone tricked me like that, I wouldn't appreciate it. The stomaches from dairy are poisonous to us and very painful. Takes the life out of us.🤢😰

Gonna add this to my "wanna try" list
This how we made it but with walnuts.
That's how my relative made it, but with celery too (lime jello, drained crushed pineapple, cottage cheese, chopped pecans, diced celery).
This is how I make it as well - one thing, we put the cottage cheese through a strainer first (push through with a fork) to make it smoother.
My sweet mama made hers exactly this way, well except no nuts. My daddy was allergic 😢. After I married I put chopped pecans or walnuts in mine. Sweet sweet memories ❤
This jello dessert is also good with orange jello it tastes just like a cream circle wow so good
,,

I was wondering if other flavors of jello would work because I don’t care for lime so thank you 😊

I love how recipes bring back such special memories of our grandma's, aunt's and moms.
I know that is so right. Like I can't even make sweet tea without hearing my Granny Holcomb say, "Stir it good sweetie until the sugar melts!"💜 😄
I haven’t made this in a very long time glad I found your channel
I love anything with marshmallows!! This salad looks yummy. So hard to find a jello salad that doesn't ask for cottage cheese. TY
I grew up eating this salad in various forms! I love it! It's the only lime I like 😆
I have made this pretty much the same way. I got the recipe from my Aunt . She always made it for Christmas and I made it every thanksgiving. It is always requested. We knew it was seafoam salad. My husband asks for it in between also. It is a wonderful dessert or side or just an afternoon snack.
I wanted to make this but had zero idea of what went in it. Thank you for posting this video. This is the recipe I was looking for!
Glad it was helpful!

We use boiling water, and refrigerate at least 4-5 hours or overnight. I sure hope she likes it. Let us know.

Great dessert. 👍

I like this dessert wiith pistachios instead of pecans. Try it that way sometime!
Looks nice and yummy! 😍😋😋
Dream whip was a whipped topping mix you could make if you didn't have cool whip or homemade whipped cream back in the day.
I think making yourself even tastes better
Looks delicious 😋 😍
My mom used dream whip. Still think it tastes better than premade but extra work.....
Thank you for this recipe.... I'm going to make it using cottage cheese rather than cream cheese. 👍💜

We always add maraschino cherries, pecans or walnuts no marshmallows but I do like them
Uncooked lime jello, cottage cheese, crushed pineapple, marshmallows, crushed walnuts and coolwhip.
My neighbor used to make a green jello salad I LOVED. I think she put cottage cheese in hers?
Can you use use cold water instead of ice cubes and how much do I use I don’t have any ice cubes.
I know I'm a year late but I was scrolling through best Jello salads and this came up! This is the one I'm looking for but... ice? Why not cold water? Do I stir til the ice melts?
Thank You for this recipe, it looks so good, my sister makes this jello salad
Do you remember the 1-2-3 jello? I would love to know how to make that from scratch
When we moved to Florida from Washington state, we always said pecans The way you say it. But we were told by locals thats something Granny’s keep underneath the bed. The proper terminology is.Ba-cons! 😂

Maybe one day! It took forever to get her to do videos at all....now she is loving it...thank you for your kind words.
I grew up saying...pee cons!😂
Yes
Thanks for watching Ursula
Our family calls it green stuff. 😆
my Mom's family make this they always called green lung salad
What size jello?
Cool whip in while it’s hot??😮
Do I have to add the pineapple? I am not fond of it. Do I have to replace it with something else if I omit it?
You can definately omit it Mimi
Looks delicious. Was that a small box of jello ?
It was Lime Jello
Liz,
Yes
Oops, I stand corrected. The recipe is in the description. It looks like she doubled the recipe from the other videos.
I’ve been wishing I had this recipe for years. Every Thanksgiving at MawMaw’s house, she served this with dinner. She let it set up in a rectangular dish ( I think it went further). What joy to have found this recipe! Thank you!
Mom used cream cheese and walnuts 🍒 on top
Sounds great!
I think my Mom's recipe had a bit of Mayo in hers...son't know how much......
Cream cheese is to rich for me too so I have to substitute it for something else like cottage cheese or yogurt..
I looked and didn't find the recipe. I hope you put it on Herr. See my grammar made something like this. But I swear there was cottage cheese in it. I could be wrong.
Ingredients:
1 large package Lime Jello
1 1/2 cups water
2 1/2 cups crushed ice
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 small tub cool whip®
1 8 ounce package cream cheese at room temperature
1 cup crushed pecans
1 can of crushed pineapple drained.
Make jello according to instructions on box.
Once the jello is heated through, dump in the marshmallows and mix till dissolved.
Remove from heat and add in the cream cheese and stir till dissolved.
Add in the cool whip and pecans. Mix well to combine.
Add in the 2 1/2 cups crushed ice and the pineapple

Put in refrigerator until it is set up.

Get. Little. Faster. Wow.
Toooo slooooow!!
Too long drawn out and boring, just mix it
Too slow
