MK8 better add it because if a mobile game can perfectly pull off a 2d character in a 3D world then MK8 definitely can

I love how people are complaining the abundance of clones in this game. Come on people, its a mobile game which keeps on updating and adding new characters. If they kept adding original characters in they are gonna run out eventually, if they used alternate costumes, there's an infinite amount of possibilities to put the Mario characters in different clothing and styles
They should at this point have a Mario category where when you tap Mario you get to pick the skins cause there’s too many to keep adding them as their own drivers
Do this with every character also
Like camos in a shooter game
Pick the default driver (gun), then pick your skin (camo)

I think the whole driver system as a whole needs an overhaul
Yeah keep the leveling up system
The skins getting certain powers system
But they should remove certain skins getting favored
I think if it’s a Mario level then all the Mario’s get it
If it’s a bowser level all turtle characters are favored
If it’s a wario level then wario and Waluigi are favored
You know, keep it linear
Or just remove the feature all together so people can use whoever they want

The fact that for SNES Mario they change to the original sounds of Super Mario Kart really tells something
All of the Mario outfits are in super mario odyssey except for the Halloween mario and SNES mario
Out of all special Mario variants, I sadly only have the Classic Mario variant. And the story of how I got him was really special: I returned to playing during the tour where the character appeared, but I was simply too poor back then (well, I'm still a bit poor but I have a lot of coins, which I remember were lacking back then). When I was going to pull the 1st Tour Pipe for the last time, I got that special variant. Very lucky, indeed! 😀

Mario (Swimwear) and Mario (Sunshine) are aesthetically my favorites, but my favorite alt overall is Mario (Chef) because ... well I really like chefs, first of all, And he's Lucky Seven! The new Mario (Tuxedo) is really trying to climb up there for me too.
If Mario kart ultimate comes out and they make all of these separate characters I will die
Why not? I mean, if they appear as various costumes instead of actual different characters, and only one Mario can spawn per race, well, the more the better.

Yeah but it would take up WAY more character slots. Also costume or not only one Mario on the track at the time as I think Nintendo would treat costumes like color variants

They should have used the Ice Mario from New Super Mario Bros Wii
The New Super Mario Bros. series' Ice Mario is much less original than Ice Mario from Super Mario Galaxy. Ice Mario from the New Super Mario Bros. series is just a recolour of Fire Mario visually, and by extent, a recolour of Super Mario.
