It’s still like that today in Korea where you don’t take the husband’s family name. My friend and his two kids are Kim. His wife still has her family name. The only big difference he said that isn’t traditional is of course, she’s still in touch with her family. But when they were living in Korea (they moved to America recently), her mother played a key role in helping raise their children. Traditionally, it’s the male’s family. They’re very nice people. ❤
