- After two years of talking about it we finally get back to Europe on what turned out to be one of the wettest summers on record. This means making the most of our time in the sun. So just hours after touching down, and 24 sleepless hours since leaving home, we suit up for a run to the Guggi Hut on the flank of the fabled Eiger mountain in Switzerland. I can’t think of a better way to start our Europe adventure than in the shadow of the Eiger and Jungfrau. We’ve got big plans for our time in Switzerland and France but the weather might require some adjusting. Luckily there are unlimited mountain opportunities in the Alps.
Our trip starts here in Wengen which is in the Lauterbrunnen valley two hours from Zurich and just south of Interlaken.

Hilarious how impressed you are by Switzerland. Living in Switzerland I am always impressed by the raw wilderness in your videos!
That was the thing I noticed about Switzerland. The Alps are beautiful and raw, but you are never far from civilization. Even in the densely populated east coast states of the US, most trails have fewer amenities than the Alps. Even the extremely popular Appalachian Trail has the 100 mile wilderness (160 kilometers with no amenities).
Another start to an adventure from Danny "We're not on vacation" Bryson and Matt "Cheese that comes from Cows" Galland! Can't wait to see the mountaineering videos!

Always feel so much better knowing that the smart, handsome, foodie adventurer (Mr. Big C) is involved in the nutritional end of things. Danny supplies the wit and wisdom and safety awareness while I Mr. Matt brings shiny red toys and cool hair. Not sure whether to call you Larry, Moe and Curly or Snap, Crackle and Pop.

Loving all your Swiss trips. The Eiger has been on my list for 25 years. Done monch. I recommend the Wetterhorn via the ridge from Gelckstien hut. And the Finsteraarhorn 👍. Thanks for your films, love them all

And yes, everyone in the european alps is trustworthy, we often have huts that only have a "Drop money here" slot and everything including the kitchen is self-service, same with the cheese fridge, its common see a "Help yourself" kind of setup like this glad you guys like it :)

This is my vacation! Its an old timey "travelogue". Back in the 60's before there were videos, etc. We would go to "ovens auditorium" and list to people talk through their videos of far away places. Thats what TV served when you watched James Bond and other movies of that era that showed exotic destinations. For people like us, we visited those places and saw the sights via the movies, personal 8mm videos and other peoples trips. To this day, This show is taking me where I'll never go and do things I could never do. Thanks the these Monster Amateurs- and Cheers!

I was born in Switzerland and in high school we used to go skiing in Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg, it makes me so nostalgic seeing this. We only ever went there in the winter months, I feel like that's when there are more people. Many of these small mountain towns are filled with vacation homes and become kind of dead during the warmer seasons, at least that's how it used to be 20 to 25 years ago.

Spectacular part of the world. Wish I could experience it in person. Austria, Germany, Switzerland etc. Just spectacular. I might want to do a bit more sitting and viewing that running and walking.
Welcome to Europe! Actually it is common on the countryside that local farmers put their products out for sale without supervision. It requires trust for sure, but seems to be working.

It's nice to see that area again. I've been skiing in Grindelwald several times. The train ride up through the Eiger is amazing. They have Gallery windows they used to dump the rock out. Total vertigo.
