Jonathan McCormick OK, I will check that out and assume that no one makes a habit of performing in Alaska. I realize that it is american soil, I'm not american but I know my geography. Alaskan concert hall - I plead ignorance or are they playing in a bar and being genius like Golden Earring's acoustic album?
As an Alaskan, most of the bigger groups that come here perform at the Alaska State Fair. Sometimes smaller groups though perform at coffee shops or bars.
Elsa Biddle - I am diving in, if I get too personal let me know. Were you born there? I picture Alaska as the 'the frozen white wasteland, although I realize than civilization does exist :-) out there. I'm accustomed to the idea that if a popular 'big band' shows up anywhere they need a venue. In his latter days I saw Johnny Winter in a bar holding 250 people, and it blew me away. I'm thinking there must be places, or maybe just one, that is like an arena where one could play to a crowd and covers all the cost of making the trip. My curiosity also goes with my tripping through the north on a few oil exploration expeditions and never considering any major bands making that trip. I've been to the border of the NWT, on 2 provinces and I never considered concerts that far north.
Brian K Lewis Yes, I was born there. It is sort of that "frozen wasteland" but only in the winter. Generally winter lasts like 9 months, but summer is still warm--like low 60s generally. I haven't been to any other concerts outside the fair, but I have had friends who have seen people perform in bars.

I'd love to believe that this song is so meaningful, but after learning that Iris was basically just written for a film and meant nothing, I'm not sure it's about anything at all.
It's about his mom. She passed away when he was a teenager.
