For all of the dudes "bored" by Kareem, youre right, he wasnt flashy, just like Duncan, Russell, etc, but hes one of the best, and its cool some attention gets paid to the legends. A lot of the absolute greats, did their job, helped their teams, and won, without flare, and showmanship. I personally love those guys.

Kareem is one the greatest centers of all time. When I think of kareem I, envision his trade mark sky hook. Kareem shooting skills were extraordinary. He broke the NBA's career scoring record in 1984 and held it until 2023 when it was broken by Lebron James. Kareem along with the great centers of yesterday, Wilt the Stilt and Bill Russel left their footprints on the game of basketball while paving the way for great centers of today.
Kareem isn’t just one of best. He is without a doubt one of the goats. No one is going to “prefer” Kareem to mj but that’s a different topic than who was the best. When we get out of our feelings, no one is definitively greater than Kareem.
Man I dont know. There aren't many people out there who would leave Kareem out of an all time all star team. Meanwhile there are others you could choose over MJ like Kobe. Maybe you could pick a prime Wilt over a prime Kareem but I doubt it.
Skyhook from 5, 10, 20 feet. Over 7'-4" Mark Eaton. Went around Parrish. Dunked on Wilt. I never got to see Kareem in his prime. Didn't start watching bball until '83ish. He was already old by then.
Insane that he’s not ever mentioned as the GOAT. I don’t recall the NCAA or NBA needing to change the rules because Jordan or LeBron were too dominant. But they did for Kareem.

I say #9 would actually be the only 3 pointer he made in his entire NBA career. He was behind the 3point line and not 1 defender was on him and he just said the heck with it and tried it and he got it!!
Even if you know exactly when and how it will happen, there is zero chance of stopping the Sky Hook. Young players will never understand the beauty of this unstoppable shot.
My Dad says Kareem doesn't work hard enough on defense and lots of times he doesn't even run hard down court and he doesn't really try until the playoffs.
the hell i dont. listen kid i've been hearing that crap ever since i was at ucla. i'm out there busting my buns every nite. tell your old man to drag walton and lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes
Amazing that his name is sometimes not brought up in lists of all-time greats. He's actually underrated. I guess because he made everything look so smooth and easy.
When KAJ played against Chamberlain in the NBA, Chamberlain knew after that first game he was going to need some help with the brutha. He wasnt Bill Russell. He was a big time scorer.
Once you learn sky hook, you won't do fade aways or any other style of shot. It is very easy and unstoppable once you perfected it. If Jordan had a hook shot he would have scored over 40,000 instead of that fade away.
THANK YOU!! I've been saying for years, that I'm surprised more bigs haven't attempted to master it, and these young kids(hoop experts) reply with, "it's a stupid shot, now bigs shoot 3s", and my response is,"That's the problem!"
Growing up in New England in the 80s, watching the Celitcs play the Lakers was great. I was a Celtic fan, but I repected the Lakers. Magic and Kareem were two of the best.
I stole Kareem's Sky Hook. It served me well for many years. I don't know why no one uses it today. It's unblockable. Anyway, Kareem was one of a kind.
You could arguably place him over Jordan and LeBron. ROY, 6 MVP's, 6 Championships, 2 Finals MVP's, 2 scoring titles, 1 rebound title, 4 block titles, 11 All Defensive, 19 All Star and 15 All NBA teams.
How many other players have you seen in your lifetime who mastered the skyhook? I believe it was Eddie Doucette, radio announcer for the Milwaukee Bucks, who coined the term "skyhook."
Overall no. But some on occasion did. Wilt Chamberlain did it a few times, and if you really want to see something you won't believe, check out Artis Gilmore blocking Kareem's skyhook.
Korean Abdul-Jabbar wasn’t marketable enough to have a shoe modeled after him. He didn’t fly from the free-throw line to slam dunk the ball. But what he did do was pave the way for all the guys who came after him by fighting for civil rights in a very ugly time. Not to mention his collegiate accomplishments, and all he accomplished in the NBA. The man was a All-Star at 38 and 40 years old for crying out loud.🤷🏽♂️

The skyhook was perfection.
Yes!!! Indeed umm... he's like 7'2 he can pull up a hook shot on any opponent by his own will.
You've gotta appreaciate the way Kareem perfected and mastered such a counter-intuitive shot like the Sky Hook.
Jew
Most of us remember Kareem as an older player. He was a really athletic 7'2" center as a younger player.
That's what I'm saying dude. He's like a shaq but skinnier with more athleticism. Dominated in the post and also perfected the hook shot!!!
He played in an era with alot of great centers too. It’s amazing what he accomplished
Look at the number 10 highlight no center is getting low on you like that in the league today…
That's why he is the greatest of all timed period!!
38,000,000 career points 6 regular season MVP 5 finals MVP, 6 championship!! Come on man he is the greatest of all times!! Period!!!

Nah
The Sky Hook of Kareem is the best thing that ever happened to basketball
Yooo I didn’t know how serious the sky hook was
Great Video!
Never been a huge fan of the big man play style, but the sky hook sure is impressive. Such a hard angle to shoot that well
Basketball was more exciting to watch during those times.
Offcourse, I was born 1973 and always watched the lakers and Michael Jordan play. 80s 90s the best

Wow, really legendary,

I wish he would do a interview with a basketball podcast and break down his game from beginning to end.

I think Kareem would love the 1985 Finals one, he really hated the Celtics after 84.
And after 1974
And the Jokic does this on a nightly basis.
