    I've been playing guitar for 50 years. I have this model, the black 59, and it's the best guitar I've ever owned... without the modeling. The technology is just gravy!

    I have the first gen. variax and anyone would be lying if they said they could tell he difference between the variax's sounds and the real deal counterparts. One notable feature I'd say is the ability to have a strat in any environment and still be able to hear a pin drop due to absolutely no single cool him.

      I have used the JTV-69 for years. I gig 4-5 nights a week, and it's the only guitar I ever use. I play through the amazing Line 6 HD500X, which also controls the guitar. I just bought the Roadhouse Strat and the Fender Mustang III which I play at home. I just bought this JTV-59 tonight. The possibilities ARE endless!

    You're very knowledgeable, I love to see that. Players use conditioned power to quell AC Line noise caused by RF and various other airborne interference that can be picked up by wiring. Many insist on Isolated inputs to avoid ground loops caused by hooking 2+ pedals to the same source. My point is, that someone of vast knowledge such as EJ chooses ONLY Energizer batteries not only because they are both the cleanest and most isolated source........

    you guys MUST to play this before you make any judgments. line 6 rep came into my guitar center about 3 months back with this model and it was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had with a guitar. latency is nonexistent, the sounds are QUALITY. I am a huge strat guy and will never play a les paul probably but the strat sound on this guitar is crazy. I was fully expecting it to be horrendous like the old one but this is AWESOME. gibson firebird x is even more pathetic after playing this

    so how or why did the nice n dirty drop tone fall off at 9:52? Paul's hand was nowhere near the controls? Modeling switch or Alternate tunings switch glitch? Is it fixable?

    Tried the 59 and 69. The models are surprisingly good, although I found the piezo pickups on two of the four guitars seemed defective on the 1st and 2nd strings. In addition I found a defective pickup switch on one of the 59s. You should be aware that piezo and magnetic dynamics are much different, so you will find the dynamics of the models may seem exaggerated. The mag pickups seemed relatively lifeless compared to a few standard guitars I compared with. Tunings and models are cool.

    Does this model contain all the same editing capabilities as the Strat emulator, including creating your own custom tunings and using software to create models with any body style and pickup configuration? (If it’s possible with the workbench to program this model to simulate the sound/character of the Brian May Red Special, that’s definitely a plus for me.)

    yep you're right. When I first started all I wanted to do was just all out gain and max out all eq like EVH but unfortunately that only works good with some amps :/ Until I got more in depth with tone I learned you can't really solo with high distortion it just makes notes undefined and a jumbled mess.

    Well I hope one day you get an Axe-FX. It's awesome to see young guys into actual composed music, be it metal or punk, rather than the garbage rap most of your peers are into. When I first started, my goal was to get as fast as possible and get so much distortion that palm mutes shook the walls. Then I had a teacher who showed me the importance of slowing down and playing from the heart. This led me to Jazz and Blues. Tastes in music evolve and taste in gear goes with it. Keep playing!

    I would like to get a fractal if I had the money but I don't have a power amp either. My prefered tone isn't muddy in fact I prefer very high mid range I'm not a noob who scoops mids and dimes out gain. I'm going to upgrade to a Randall RG1503 once those amps come out Most people who've gotten the chance to try it said it's like a tube amp because it saturated and moves air like tubes also knowing that it's based of the original RG100 I wouldn't be surprised if it's a good amp.

    I own one; it is very handy; especially when you are using various tunings during live shows. The one issue I have is the battery. Make sure you have two fully charged batteries; they drain quickly. I don't use the different guitar sounds much; just the alternative tunings.

    • @LemmyKoopaVGA
      @LemmyKoopaVGA 10 лет назад

      Highly suggest picking up a power supply. Either a POD with a VDI jack or a Variax power supply box.
      You will need a stereo cable if you go with the latter since the stereo ring on the cable is used to transfer the power to the guitar.

    Also, don't forget Chappers is using the DT-25. Line 6 sells big, like Boss, to the younger crowd. There are also pros who use Boss pedals for varying reasons.
    Models vs. Tubes is a different argument. Over the computer, not many can differentiate the two. In person, plugged in, that's a different story. If you've never experienced voltage sag and even-order harmonics, you can't miss them. Eric Johnson can tell which brand of batteries are in his pedals. Some have better ears than others.

    As a relative beginner, I'm looking for a very good, versatile guitar. I've fallen in love with this one, the looks, the build, the sound and versatility, but love clearly doesn't come very cheap ;) It isn't available to try out around my area, only through online stores.
    I'd like to ask a few questions:
    Is the price good for the quality?
    Do the alternate settings work for you, more experienced players?
    I have no talent, but loads of heart. Should I ever play gigs, is it really as easily changeable as it seems? (a few mid-song drops in tuning have already passed the repertoire, not playable now)
    Many thanks for your help!

    Is there any pedal out there can custom the guitar tuning like this without actually tuning it?

    • @thomaskoelewijn2425
      @thomaskoelewijn2425 9 лет назад +2

      You need to process the signal of each string separately for this to be possible. The output of a normal guitar gives you a mix of all six strings, which makes this more or less impossible.

    • @wiziek
      @wiziek 9 лет назад

      Floydandsome It is "big pedal" with additional piezo pickup for each string. You can set custom tunings even very strange but you are limited to sounds inside pedal, because you don't change tuning of your strings but signal inside pedal.

    Great playing- my big complaint is 30 seconds of playing and then 6 1/2 minutes of dude blathering on and on before we hear another note!. Sure wish more folks did promo videos like Prymaxe - the guy starts playing immediately while all the pertinent info scrolls across the screen while you are hearing examples of that very thing. Plus they write out the same information when you click on "Show More" in case you miss something while watching/hearing at the same time. Watching a guy sitting in a chair just droning on and on and on is tough to watch- just hoping the sounds will actually FINALLY begin! Rant over.

    You're not getting the extra string looseness ( main purpose for 1/2 step full step down tuning) by doing it virtually.

      @tizzmenic 8 лет назад +4

      +slingoking Are you for real? The main reason is to help the vocalist. use lighter strings for more " looseness" as you call it

    It is disgusting, that despite years of pleading, Line6 have refused to address the wishes of left-handed players as regards the JTV series. It is THE guitar for any left-handed player (I know, because I have both a lefty and a righty Line6), but their refusal to even meet lef-handed players even half way has earned them hundreds of minus points, in my opinion

    Dave Mustaine of Megadeth used line 6 amps in early 2000s until 2009 or 10. Many experienced youtube users such as CSguitar89, era1004, and many more use line 6 products. I can guarantee you 70% of the time when you listen to a guitar track on youtube with a monstrous tone the person will be using a line 6 product of some sort. You can do a blind fold test with line 6 models compared to the actual amps and can hardly tell the difference.

    Because there are no more people that don't use analog effects exclusively, or that record on tape, or learn songs by ear or actual sheet music found in stores.
    There's a video made by some company (I think it was Andertons) that has samples of the simulations and the actual guitars alongside. I didn't miss one when I had to say which was the original guitar, so there's your answer. I don't need/want/like this, because it'll never be the real deal.

    The idea is a great one, but it just doesn't cut it sonically. It sounds ok, but it does not sound like a (your favourite guitar here), which I believe is the point of the exercise. All the playability is great; I'd probably seek out an instrument designed by James Tyler that didn't have Line 6's guts.

  • @Wildchildinc

    Really some younger guys aren't there yet to know what they like and what sounds good? Or Johnson ears are just deteriorating and getting old... Then how is it that amp modeling help me and many others find the tones we like for our guitar sound in a shorter amount of time Elder more experienced players have. Many are satisfied with the new digital age amps because it gives them the tones they want without all the hassle of having a lot of pedals or spending a lot of money.

    If they included Autotune & intonation correction like the Peavey AT200 or Antares ATG1 had I would definitely be interested.
    I have the other 2 forementioned, and love them .... but the product support for them is gone. Antares no longer offers support on those products. The Peavey AT200 was unfortunately kind of a cheap quality guitar. The Antares ATG-1 requires a whole pedalboard style interface to operate its functions which could mean lots more gear.
    So if I could get 2 great guitars with something like the line 6 Helix that could offer Antares pitch correction it would be a complete dream rig for me.
    *** I have the Roland VG-99 too, it’s sounds lacked the IR cabs and modern quality of the line 6 helix family..... and same the same problem as the Variax guitars ..... if the intonation or tunings off on the actual instrument.... the digital alternate tunings would be out too.
    The pitch correction if done as well as the Antares gear would have me ready to rock!!!
    That would be the ultimate for cover songs or experimenting with altered tunings.
    *** I am addicted to my Antares products abilities.... I can’t believe they abandoned what they had. This is technology us guitarists should have as stock in my opinion.
    Thanks for Sharing Paul, love your reviews on products .... always concise and informative 😁👋

    SixStringHarmonies Honestly I think BOSS is pushing obsolete technology. Yes some of their pedals are unique and great, but most of it is overpriced garbage.
    All of their modeling technology is horrendous compared to Line 6, VOX or any other company that actually knows how to program digital modeling amps.
    Look at a POD HD500 and whatever BOSS' multi FX is. BOSS sounds tinny and fake while the HD500 has life, sounds warm and real.
    BOSS was innovative back in the 90's and early 00's, but now they're lagging behind and are too stubborn to update their technology. They need to fire everyone who keeps pushing that COSM garbage and start properly working on new hardware for this generation.

    ........but they impart a tone that other 9V battery brands do not. A lot of people think he is "insane" or picky because of this. To him, however, he will accept nothing less than what makes the best sound to his ears. Some guys swear by brands of tubes, we all have our idiosyncrasies. The longer one plays, the more amps, and guitars, and pedals one plays, the more refined your tastes become. That is to say "the pickier you get about everything". Young guys aren't there yet.
