My kid wouldn't stop walking backwards, even though I warned her of the dangers with this. I knew that if I stopped interveining that she was going to get hurt. I hated to just leave my kid to get hurt. A side note if my thoughts were my kid could get hurt I wouldn't have had the feelings that I did bc it was an uncertainty what the consequences would be but in this case I knew bc where we walk there's a lot of old pay phones and that is what I warned my kid about getting hurt on. BUT I did leave her to suffer with her consequences AND she did get hurt just like I warned. She had a nice mark and guide on her shoulder blade and she hasn't walked backwards sense.
Although she has suffered the consequences of not being mindful of cars and the street and yet the behavior continues. She has been hit by a car. Thankfully it was nothing. She also almost got hit by a car, with the driver slamming on his brakes and stopping inches in front of her. I don't know how to get her to mindful of the street and the cars. I'm afraid that I'm going to see her seriously injured bc of it. Currently she didn't get to participate in her Christmas program bc yesterday she wasn't mindful of the street and passing cars and proceeded to walk next to me in stead of in a single line. Walking next to me put her close enough to get hit in the leg. It would have been on someone's passenger side and her leftside. This is a dangerous position and I'm very scared and worried about my child. My child is plenty old enough to understand the danger, she is 13 years old, this has been going on sense she was 3 years old. I'm glad that I haven't lost her yet due to this behavior. She and I need help. I don't know who or where to see help. Like I pointed out she understands the consequences of other behaviors just not this. Idk what to do. Please help!
