Even in Japan, many professional baseball players buy expensive cars, clothes, foods and watches and live extravagant lives after joining the team. However, at the time, most of Shohei's receipts were for food from convenience stores. His parents said at the time that he was only saving money. He doesn't care about extravagance, he just loves playing baseball and is focused. When he came to Japan for World Baseball, he didn't do anything other than attend his classmates' reunions and refused even his teammates' invitations to go out for drinks. He is trully concentrating with all his heart on how much he can extend his baseball best career and the best time. Because he just loves baseball.

She has their financial information and they trust her implicitly. Many times translators do many other duties.

I had been a interpreter/translator for many years in the past based in San Francisco.
I feel this interpreter has missed / left out some important words in his translations.
Although they were not egregious mistakes but there will be naysayers always who'll
misinterpret what was said and nitpick.
The details of how Ippei was able to sign off on so much money from Ohtani's account
will eventually be disclosed from further investigation by Dodgers mang as well as MLB.
But it's clearly out of Shohei's hand as far as criminal activities are concerned.

I agree. He wasn’t the best translator for this occasion. Dodgers should have found a more professional/technical translator for this particular setting, especially since they’re in Los Angeles. I’m sure the new translator is fantastic with the day to day and baseball related conversations though.
Dodgers should have brought in a Japanese and English speaking attorney based in Los Angeles to translate for this.

The translator just translated everything at site -I was expecting that he would prepare English to Japanese words that Shohei speaks beforehand. I just felt they are not yet in “team” and two different persons speaking. Ippei has vocally and verbally represented Shohei in his character in interviews. Shohei trusted and relied on Ippei and is too late to notice what Ippei has been involved, which is I think his fault in his life in MLB.

Great interpreting, but you missed the part where Ohtani said at 9:39 , "Since this is all I can talk today, we're not going to have Q and A. . . ."

I’m sure this new guy is all Shohei needs from a translator 99% of the time, but the Dodgers should have retained a formally trained interpreter for this particular press conference.
He was able to convey the gist of things, but I would have liked for him to translate more specifically.
