    There you go! Nice mid-power action. Flirting with the 1000' altitude apogee. The range looks big until a rocket descends into the substation 😭. As always, great videos. Love the dirt flying into the camera lens, Gerry Anderson would have been proud.

      Does kinda look like another Eagle crashing into the moon.

    Other than a couple mishaps with engines, that looked like a great launch day!! The video tracking was excellent!! That zipper was something else!

      Like Jake says, if I can get the wreckage back, I can fix it.

      I must admit, that's the longest zippered rocket tube I've ever seen.

    Words no rocketeer ever wants to hear: "So, is that supposed to be a tumble recovery?"

    Nice! Lot numbers of the CATOed motors reported to MESS Reports? On the flight at 16:40, if you didn't have fin issues it could be that the coning in high winds was due to a three fin design which is more prone to that. That's one of the reasons why three finned sounding rockets are rare. On the WISE E9-6 motor test, it's always the ones from the pack that you put in a rocket that CATO it seems and not the ones you test afterwards.

      In the first launch of the brand new Initiator, it pulled the controller wire and veered toward the festival grounds causing damage to the fin. Jake duct taped it back on which mostly worked.

    Do you remember what engine was in that white rocket? There was no smoke. That was pretty cool

    • @RonzRocketz
      @RonzRocketz  10 месяцев назад +1

      It's Aerotech's classic motor. Not as powerful as the modern propulsion and no smoke, just flame. www.thrustcurve.org/motors/AeroTech/F52C/

      The rocket name, motor, and altitude if known are shown in the timeline.

    @1:58... Was this a vintage Estes Shadow kit, a build made with only plans or a bad boy rocketry clone of the Optima painted and decorated like the shadow?

      Actually, I'm not sure. Belongs to Dr. Hudson who is the NASA advisor at Windward CC. This was the student practice before we headed to ARLISS last September.

    I understand all of the descriptions in the timeline for each rocket, except for the last “6 pts”, 7pts, etc. What does that mean? ?

    • @RonzRocketz
      @RonzRocketz  3 месяца назад

      Point system: 1 for ignition, 1 for going up, 1 for ejection, 1 for recovery, bonus pts for payload, ie, altimeter, cam, LED, RaceRender, etc.

    That’s the worst zipper I’ve ever seen! I wondered as I watched the on board camera video: WHY am I seeing the shock cord in that position?!? Hope it can be repaired. That is a beautiful rocket… but, aren’t they all 😬🚀

    • @RonzRocketz
      @RonzRocketz  Год назад +2

      The baffle stopped the zippering. My plan is to cut off 2in from the baffle and replace with a new tube that I need to order. It works out because I originally messed up the black paint job.

    • @mobrockets
      @mobrockets Год назад +1

      @@RonzRocketz Awesome. I'll be on the lookout for video of the repaired rocket flight. I of course did not notice the black paint job mess up. ALWAYS enjoy your videos, Ron. Thank you for posting them!

    • @RonzRocketz
      @RonzRocketz  Год назад +1

      @@mobrockets The cord went right through the two layers of black electrical tape I used to cover up the mess. If it wasn't for the baffle, it probably woulda gone to the motor mount. I shoulda added a ball of tape to the cord at the tube entrance to make it harder to zipper. Overall an easy fix since I did get it all back.

      Anymore videos planned with 321?

      @@RonzRocketz YES! We are going to each build another So Long and try that mess again… Hopefully this Fall when it’s not 321 degrees around here….
