Wow what an amazing mid power launch Ron. So sorry for the few of you peeps that had those catos's. How long was that thermally transfered mean machine! I have never seen one up there for so long and really, the mean machine is a somewhat heavy rocket too and should have came down quickly?, it did look like a fun day for you folks. Thanks for sharing and great fun to say the least. So glad to see some young rocketeers as well.

Thanks. For all I know, it's still heading to Japan.

Been building and flying since the mid 70's.
Used to launch over at kapiolani park back in the day when it was allowed.
Had to start launching at Blaisdell park, but there are too many rocket eating trees.
Would love to join you guys someday.

Cool. You probably know Helen from back in the day when she went by a different name. She tells us about Kapiolani Park all the time. We usually launch from Waipahu park. Our FB page is facebook.com/groups/330116532176675.

@@RonzRocketz, I used to part of the HONOROCS model rocket club.
Pete, from Pete's Modelcraft used to be our sponsor back then when he was still in business with his shop being located at Ala Moana shopping center back then.
Michael H. Okuda, Michael J. Lim, Alan Kobayashi, Gerald (I forget his last name), and a whole bunch of other people. Terri Ann Izumo and her younger brother were also some of the founding members.
Mike Okuda is married and living on the mainland in California, and Darren is in H.P.D. Don't know what happened to the rest of the club members, as we pretty much went our own way.

Wow, quite a CATO. I was bummed that the live stream missed it. Lots of great flights - that Mean Machine duration was pretty amazing. Too bad about the lawn darts, but they happen. The Dumb Bell reminded me of the Doorknob that barely cleared the launch rod earlier this month. As always, thanks for the entertainment.

It may have not landed for all we know and is making its way to Japan.

Looking at the video, I'm wondering if the Graduator's motor had a delay grain between the ejection charge and the propellant. That would explain the ejection right at ignition and the propellant thrusting out the front instead of through the nozzle. Normally the delay grain keeps the propellant pressure sealed from the front end.

@@garysaito8681 Indeed. Helen wrote down E26-4W so probably not a reloadable. Do you think it was a manufacturing error?

I bring helium balloons and kite string. Run a couple balloons out to 60 to 80 ft and use wind direction to gage the tilt on the launch rod.

You visit the party store before the launch? I guess I would need to buy it the day before.

Cameraman Chris always does an excellent job of tracking the rockets, keeping them in frame, and zooming in. I look up and nearly always just lose track of them. Where'd it go??

He's better at it than me because he watches the screen instead of the rocket in the sky.

That field looks good at the first minute and then we find out it's full of traps. Do you have a link to that stand that clamps to the rail? I'm in the market for something like that and it looks to be simple and useful.

I'm sure that after I read your "updates", most of my questions/concerns will be answered, but I'm watching the video first..........
From the base camera, the Aloun Fad actually tilted the camera back, with perfect timing, as if it were a tracking camera! Chris did a very good job tracking and following the descents! Like I mentioned in the Livestream, it wouldn't hurt to all pitch in and buy a golf cart! Save yourselves some marathon walking! LOL
That poor Mean Machine has good reason for being mean................... I would be too!
That Dumb Bell lived up to it's name. It wasn't smart enough to go UP! Don't understand how an "old" motor with a nozzle doesn't produce thrust..........??????? (Just read "Updates". The nozzle blew out, well, that'll do it!)
Was the Custom 2-stager recovered beyond the palm trees?
I can't help but wonder if the Unicorn rocket was found at the base of a rainbow.............................
Verne's Mercury was impressive. Kudos to him for that one!
Mike made up for the first Mean Machine "incident" with that AWESOME Thermalling!!!! He put birds and glider pilots to shame!
The Graduator was just bizarre.............. in a cool way!
Such a great grouping of various styles of rockets and flights! And you topped it off with a great time of fellowship at the table! Cheers!

Yeah, he easily found it past the palm trees. I was easily able to find mine because of the orange chute. I forgot to use the screamer again.

If those were really Estes E15's, you were lucky they were not dynamite sticks LOL. They had a reputation of blowing up.

    • @RonzRocketz

Indeed, it was the E26 that turned into a roman candle.

@@RonzRocketz I saw the E26 cato, I was referring to the Mean Machine where it said it was flying on an Estes E15. Then it said the Door Knob that blew the nozzle was an E15 too. If it wasn't an E15, it could of been an E12 (24mm) or E16 (29mm).

    • @RonzRocketz
      @RonzRocketz  2 года назад

Sorry, by indeed, I was trying to agree with you. It's ironic to me that it was the E26 that cato'd and not the E15s.

Great video. Really too bad on the Mean Machine. When he rebuilds it, change it up such that it separates between the 3rd and 4th tube. When I built mine the upper section is a payload bay. The Super Big Bertha made me cringe. I really hate seeing rockets meet their fate.
