I'm glad I'm not the only one with this take that the nightcap should replace a bump entirely (especially in these days of super lightweight ballistics)
Ops core h harnesses can easily replace the subpar harness it comes with. Totally worth the money. It really comes into its own with a light set of anvis and a battery pack
Couldn’t agree more. I live in the desert SW, and it’s BY FAR better than a bump in hot weather. Also, being able to easily wear with normal ear pro is nice. I’ve been running one for a couple years now. I’ve got a giant head, and with the adjustments maxed out, it fits perfectly, which is a little surprising.
Whats it like with dual tubes? Is it too heavy to wear after an hour or 2? And if your using dedicated duals, do you think the weight of dual pvs14s in a bridge mount is too heavy for the nightcap?
I put my 14 in an issued canteen insert then put that inside the night cap. Aka2 mount gets put in the rear and the whole package can fit in a 200rd saw pouch like you said.
To your point on weight being a factor in the ballistic versus bump debate, every time someone holds my Opscore maritime ballistic with strobe, G24, and peltors mounted to it, they're blown away by how light it is. Same with my buddies crye airframe. To me, if you're going to protect yourself from impacts, just get a modern ballistic helmet from a reputable manufacturer (provided you can afford it). If you just need something to mount nods to, crye nightcap or the ops core skull crusher are the way to go. They have surface for mounting IFF devices, counterweights/battery packs, and can interface with communications headsets without causing significant discomfort on the part of the end user. I think too many people look at these and think of the old USGI skull crusher systems that came with the PVS-7's and PVS-14's and refuse to give systems like the nightcap a try. Good overview video
Absolutely, the bump helmet still has a use but with the advances we see in ballistic materials, its waning. For stuff on the water or caving or something, or real dense terrain, the bump is better than a nightcap but idk how many regular guys are caving in full kit.
If its stupid but it works, its not stupid. I have one myself and I always carry it in my EDC bag it helps with the weight and a lot better than carrying a bump or ballistic helmet here in the Caribbean.
The nightcap is great. I modded mine with an OpsCore H-Nape chinstrap and it made a world of difference. It requires an absurd amount of counterweight though.
All I know is I'm saving up for something 3rd gen and I have no clue how I'm going to hang it in front of my face. Lightweight, low-pro, low barrier-to-entry sounds good to me. Thank You
Can confirm will make you look like a dork mom said it looked like I was wearing a jock strap and was shocked I paid for it... love it more then a bump though
Been using these for years and wonder why it doesn't get more attention, like yourself. First heard about them from Chuck Pressburg doing low vis AWG shenanigans with a briefcase MP7.
2 questions. 1: do you think the norotos shroud with build in headlamp would be too bulky for it? 2: is dual tube nods, particularly dual 14s in a bridge mount, too heavy??
If you are getting one of these, also get the crye nightcap counterweight. Which is stupidly sold separately. Its pretty much a requirement. Other counterweight holders will sit way too high with how the velcro is on it
Get a sponge brush, or if youre on a budget an old Tshirt. Spray paint the Tshirt, dab the paint on the NVG housing. Not as scary as blasting rattle can at it.
Base plate cost more than the nightcap. The norotos universal shroud is $150. Add the nightcap for let's say $75. You are at $225 all in. A Team Wendy bump helmet isn't that much more and comes with the shroud. I have to get a setup soon. Trying to figure best way to go.

Seems perfect for bringing NVGs on backpacking

The improved with headloc clamps or the original ach strap?

Awesome
YOOOOO YANKEE WITH NO BRIM⁉️
😂
Well now I need more info to jump into night vision gear! Thanks for piquing the interest!
Of course!
Been loving all the content man!
Thanks homie! Glad to be putting it out in a new medium

Great information, thank you sir!

Its definitely a great tool for low vis, Ive had mine for at least two years but since I've only made videos recently, I figured it deserved attention
Bout to sew one into a boonie so I can reenact "Bravo six going dark."
looking at one of these for women and children (much lighter weight, less strain on their smaller necks).
What screws are this three? I have an extra mount just like that but it’s just the single center screw

I bought a team Wendy bump for my night vision but this is definitely on the list of kit to get
Its so cheap theres no reason not to get one
@@opfor8r ever think about using it with a Wilcox g30 or something similar? I think an integrated mount might help keep it slim
@@tophergauruder3647 havent thought of that, seems sound
How does this balance on your head. Do you need a lot of counterweight???
I didnt feel the need for it but I tightened the chinstrap down well and use over the ear earpro with this that keeps it in place.

How did you find the courage to paint your nods?
Id spraypaint a multimillion dollar jet if they would let me, I simply tape off what shouldnt be painted and go to work
@@opfor8r maybe after ive had them a bit longer... i wrapped them in koban. Def an improvement.

Norotos shroud is 50-60…
I've seen a couple people talk about it being too small for their heads. Think my head is about 7 and a 1/4"
Do you it would fit my head?
Not sure sorry
Why would I get this if I can’t take pictures with it lol
Lol
I fucking called it!
My fiancé bought me a nightcap to replace the airsoft bump helmet that my ex got me.
Nice! Its def a quality piece of kit
Stealth 😎 no heavy helmet if going in fast and quiet
YANKEE CAP NO BRIM!!!
I just purchased one ,and now completely baffled why anyone uses a bump helmet….. that’s pretty stupid considering weight
