    I stayed at the same resort as a kid with my family, and I can say that a lot had changed since the early 90s. I don't remember seeing so many motorbikes and cars at all. It was more simple and wholesome back then.

    A lot of times the mini bus drivers are maniacs. Years ago they introduced me to Red Bull and that explained everything

      Not a big fan of minibuses either, but this was luckily a very nice and responsible driver.

    I went to that island many times when I was a teenager. Everything has changed now, But.. it looks like its reputation will remain the same.

    Hi, I really enjoyed your video and the thoughtful and methodical way you presented it! Wish others were as good as this! I'm a distance swimmer and wanting to go to Koh Samet in about the first week of April. Can you advice if the sea is really calm early mornings around April. Thanks in advance!

    Good. I was there during 2 weeks at 2019. Ekkamai to Ban Phe was 200 THB, Ban phe to Ekkamai 166 THB. Transfer to island and back was 120 THB. Entrance to Koh Samet was free.Best regards to ever travelers!

    Really good video. You seem to enjoy all aspects of Thailand. Happy for you. If I could give you a small advice, I would suggest that you don't say "Thank You" so often. In South East Asia, "Thank You" is reserved for occasions when you are showing great gratitude. It's like saying "I deeply appreciate this kind act you have bestowed upon me" or something like that.
    When you buy a bus ticket, no need to say anything. When you get a delicious looking meal, a simple nod of the head is enough. Of course, these days you see it more often from Thais to foreigners but if you observe how the locals react you would never hear "Thank You" when they buy a bus ticket. It would be completely bizarre for them.

      I had a talk with some of my close Thai friends about saying Thank You all the time and they love it. I know its not standard, but I keep doing it on purpose :-)

    at Sanam Luang National Museum, Phra Kaew Temple, Pho Temple, Santi Chai Prakan Park There is a celebration of Bangkok's 240th anniversary. It's very worthwhile to visit. Especially the museum, free entry. There are many ancient sites. I haven't finished walking the whole temple yet. If you look at the map, Sunday is the last day

    Koh Samet has changed a lot since the last time I was there in 2006. We used to take a speed boat if there were 4 or more of us. They would take us right to our place. The speed boat is much quicker and back then it bypassed paying the park entrance fee. Not sure if that has changed or not.

    • @globaltravelmate
      @globaltravelmate  2 года назад

      Not paying the park entrance fee is a thing of the past. We used to get around that as well 10 years ago, but now all speed boats go through the port.

  • @joachimguth6226
    @joachimguth6226 Год назад +1

    Try to be there before 5 pm. Later it is difficult to get regular boats. It is getting expensive then to get a small speed boat at night.

    I'm hoping to take a bus from Bangkok to Chanthaburi to go to the durian festival on June 1. However, now I am doubtful I can pull it off. I also prefer big buses. Those vans scare me! 😱

    • @globaltravelmate
      @globaltravelmate  2 года назад +1

      Hmm, I am not sure about Chantaburi, they might have the semi big buses or big buses. Koh Samet off course is a very touristic destination, Chantaburi is more regular, so not so much affected by the pandemic.

    What a nice info for us who are planning to go to koh samet. One quick question, we are planning to go to Ban phe pier with a motorcycle from bangkok, is there any parking for rent near by, where we can leave the motorcycle for 2 days? and how much would be the cost? Thank you and more power.
