Cheers. 390 other subscribers may agree with you. It may be some time though before I can give up my day job. 🤣

agreed, there are a lot of kids that just want power and do bad mods. but this is racing team level stuff and experimentation

True. I could help Alpha Romeo go a bit better in F1 if they just let me at it. Or not. 😉

@@rcoltlyf i mean...you track your car, do mods that actually help your car perform better on the track, experiment new mods, discard the useless mods, quote papers written on the subject.. you know...racing team level stuff. not like other guys * slap a bigger turbo, foot down until engine goes boom *

Guilty as charged, though I have also boomed my engine once. Still pretty sure it's not racing team level stuff - just stuff that I find interesting. Thanks for watching though!

I was thinking of making it aero shaped a long time ago too. :)

I think the height of the detectors matters on the car, so the tire air exposure varies.

Personally i just use PET bottle that 1 cut in half to do this job. The original ABS one get broken easely but PET bottle are bullet prof and cost 0

Would tuft testing show a flow improvement at the wheel arches? Might be neat to mount a go pro and test the effect at the under plate.

Dunno but good thought. Part of the issue is the challenge in mounting the camera in a way that does not affect the air flow. Really need a wind tunnel!

I read somewhere that wheel deflectors can create lift on the front of the car due to the pressure difference they create?

    • @rcoltlyf

Yep. In the Sebben (2004) study there was slight increase or decrease in lift front and rear depending on the deflector. I have pasted that table here but dunno what it will look like with formatting.

Another study (Dimitriou, I., & Klussmann, S, 2006) also concluded that "The main effect of the wheel spoiler (35mm in this case) is to decrease the total pressure in the wheelhouse. This results in less drag - the smaller value recorded throughout the experimental study - and slightly decreased downforce." So depending on the deflector the lift created is low.
