I suggest repositioning the puck's orientation so it places the load on the beam that supports the shear panel. As you have it, the load is mostly just going to be on the panel.
I want to buy and install this pucks. Is it not better to install them more to the side of the car? I mean twist 180 degrees, or don't they fit than? I tought for more stability.....
Bob, I think you may have confused the lift points. I too use hockey pucks on the "A" points when changing tires, brake pads, etc. But you can not use a lift or a Quick Jack from the "A" and "B" points ... the car could easily topple off backwards. Yes, I have tested this warning from others, the front is in balance by about 15 lbs, remove the front suspension and very bad things will happen. This after market part closes/fills the space between the bottom cover and the frame. Being able to lift the car without having to pull the panel is a huge time saver. Now, I just need to see if my Quick Jack is long enough for the span... I've always hatted the jack the car, slide ramps under the rear wheels, pull the tray, re-jack the car and then get to work on the things that didn't require any of this... You have an S1, had to be different.... I'd suggest doing one on a rear clamshell removal kit (Iridium or BOE's kit), makes working on the car a breeze. If you have to remove the clamshell, I'd consider it a mandatory upgrade. Step one of removing the clamshell: remove driver's seat. Yeah, it is a complete PITA. Great video, Thank You!
@@davidtimberlake4995 you are probably correct. However I should have written ‘I use hockey pucks to lift my M3.’ They can be easily cut to fit in the rectangular jack points. And a quick jack is very stable using the pucks…
