Yeah, I was just gonna say, Mancow went right at him and Howard didn’t do much. And that’s the thing, most people Howard went after never fought back. They figured if they ignored, he’d just go away and by the time they “tried” to oppose him it was too late.
I’m not gonna get into whose best between here but at least he fought back. And you could truly see the REAL Howard once his XM radio failed huge. Opie & Anthony took over and exposed him for who his true self; especially NOT the innovator he claimed to be at all. Not even close.

Howard didn't get to where he is now by being a nice guy. So should we even be surprised he said all that. Using that metric it looks they both "won." Seriously though Stern was obviously the bigger success. Searching RUclips and you're usually able to find clips of classic bits from his show that still kind of hold up. For Mancow most of the videos you'll find of him from his Morning Madhouse Days are him getting dissed by Stern or Opie and Anthony.

@Upson Pratt true the first " Shock jock " was a guy named steve dahl who was syndicated in detroit chicago & I think new mexico. A guy I know who lived in Detroit said howard took some of Dahl's bits when Howard was early on in Detroit listened to dahl. Callers in the area started saying to dahl their Is a DJ taking ur bits. I wasn't around or a baby at that time so thats what a few people said . It might be true howard was like 24 at the time & dahl did a disco demolition with a ton of people at some ball park. He came before howard. Im sure howard did his own thing but its possible he was influenced by dahl. Also for sure I know casey casem had that top 40 countdown from coast to coast. He probably pre taped it from california & I was in ny. I also think soupy sales was syndicated. So ur right others were syndicated b4. If it's TRUE Howard was influenced by dahl that letter he sent was really gracious. What happened to mancow . I know ivee seen him like 10 years ago as a fox news contributor . So I guess radio for mancow ended or I'd think he would have still done it but I dont know where or what happened. All these guys who were on radio shows are doing podcasts, it's over saturated. O& a do podcasts john grillo artie as well. Now that guy brent or brett is gone & will do a show. I think too many podcasts from ex radio shows covering the same ground.

Howard went into Chicago fired out of a Cannon and ripped on every local DJ and even some Chicago Landmarks. He ended up never coming close to the success he had in other markets. He Fuked up! He went the wrong route and couldn’t fix it, so he went full throttle with ripping on Mancow to the point it was wayyyy over the line!
I’m from Chicago and I don’t know a single person who knows that Mancow exists.

I remember when Howard left LA market for satellite within 4 months Mancow came here and was promoted to be the next big thing. I remember somewhat enjoying it but feeling it was Howardish but ok. THEN he played the “my turban is dirty” that Sal/Richard made as his own. I knew there he was a hack. Got satellite and enjoyed the prime Artie mess there. At 2021 it died and I quit Stern too. Few years later found the old O&A beef videos with Mancow and he was doing fake car crash bits. He is outright crap.

You know in all fairness Mancow started this feud and feuded with others like Johnny B, Kevin Matthews, Steve Dahl, Gary Meier when they never gave a thought about him. I get it...Mancow was trying to get ratings. I listened to him on both Rock 103.5 and Q101.1. Howard was right Cow stole a lot of material from him and the others I mentioned and called his show original which was b.s. The one thing I will give Mancow was that he had some nice live shows. I was a live event he did at Buddy Guys back in 1997 and I saw Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Johnny Lang right up close and I met Buddy Guy that day and he autographed a dollar bill for me...I still have it framed in my house. But Cow based his show on lies also..he said he had the last ever interview with Brandon Lee which was a lie...he did interview Brandon Lee when he was filming Rapid Fire here in Chicago but it wasn't the last one he did! He said he mic'd up and isolated Linda McCartney's voice during Paul's performance of Hey Jude while Linda was clowning around during the refrain but that audio existed for years...Steve Dahl played it on his show years before Mancow was around...that was a lie. He said that was in the church when U2 recorded the version of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and recorded it..which was a lie...everybody plays that!! I used to listen to Mancow's show but it was recycled crap from previous shows. I guess the one big thing that turned me off was when he and I were in a well known restaurant near Greektown and I was like, "wow, there's Mancow". I believe Turd was with him and Irma. I went up to him..totally turned his back toward me. I was like Ok...Mr. "I'm just an average guy like the next guy". I stopped listening to his "schtick", the black helicopters following him, the FBI bugging his apartment just got old. By the way, the guy on the show that was really cool whom I met a couple times and was always gracious and cool and had THE most talent on that show was Freak!! Freak was awesome!!
If I recall correctly, Howard was on 103.5 then Mancow's show came on at 8. I don't remember Jonathan Brandmore, Gary Meier or Steve Dahl feuding with him. I thought they'd shifted down the dial by the time Manure... er, Mancow emerged.

Stern was on Rock 103.5 in the slot prior to Mancow. Mancow's contract was not renewed. A few months later, Stern asked the affiliate station for more money. The now-defunct station couldn't afford him. But now, Stern's on satellite and Mancow ain't even in Chicago; not even on AM radio.
And with in four years Eric was off the air
I guess mancow wasnt setting the world on fire with that radio show. Last time I saw him years ago as a fox news contributor. This was such a great time for thss. 92 to 96 were amazing. After the movie came out things changed fast . Jackie & Billy leaving was a hit. Also Howard getting divorced changed things so much.

I don’t think I’ve heard a single entertaining radio show besides Howard’s. I really can’t even comprehend how people don’t like Howard’s show during the peak years unless they are just confused. I’ve tried Bubba, Mancow, O&A etc. and they ALL just seem so all over the place and unfunny trying hard to be like Howard. It’s like comparing Pong to monday night football in terms of entertainment.
@@PlutoTheGod im from Mass and we always had way better regional radio than any of the national syndicated shows out there, there was this one show out of southern NH that was really big in New England called Greg and the morning buzz that I always thought was great, but when I moved to NY and Florida I realized how shit regional radio typically is.
