My time has come to write my literature review for my undergraduate dissertation. 6 years later, you're still helping people. God bless! After watching thousands of explanations, this was by far superior. The examples are brilliant. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I cannot even begin to thank you, Dr. Hastings. This has been the best explanation I've seen since I've started my Ph.d! Thank you Texas A&M writing center for providing such an amazing lesson for all of us, around the globe.
Dr. Hastings, this is by far the best explanation I have ever heard about putting a literature review together. I'm on my third listen and will probably listen a few times more before I get started on my article. I also plan to listen to your video on proposal development. You should seriously consider your own channel. You are really good at making the complicated, clear. Thank you for this.
This presentation is certainly going to make my Ph.D. journey a lot easier!! Think now I m really gonna dance through my Ph.D. I assert this is by far the best session that comprehensively explains a lit.review process. Many thanks Dr. God bless you !!
I am glad that INASP made this video available to us during the last online course on Research Writing in Social Sciences. Watching this video has removed the fear I had about writing literature review. Thanks a million to International Next Work for Availability of Scientific Publication. ( INASP).

Many thanks for taking the time to explain this so thoroughly, the example you gave on a novel topic is what I am grappling with, all other tutorials try to give a prescription for how to organize the literature review which sometimes needs a combination of approaches.
"You don't have to write the lit review in one day. If you try to do that.. I don't know what you will do .." I know what I will do. Because I have one day left for submission. :' - )
Thank you very much. You are amazing. Your presentation give the very clear direction and you are so understanding the struggles new hands researcher are facing.
I just don't even know how to thank you enough. You are an amazing human being. I can now go back and begin working on my thesis with a roadmap. Thank you!
This is such an engaging lecture on the topic. Every other lecture I've watched has been a struggle to pay attention, but this one is easy, and even makes me laugh at parts. My favourite bit was at 34:08 when she physically demonstrated the roadmapping of words.
I found out this video at the beginning of my masters journey; I must admit that it is helpful as I wasn't given enough exposure during my degree years. Thank you!
Mama! you're good at what you're doing, I had challenges in Research Methods, having come from a background of Professional Programme where I didn't do this Research Methods, Your presentation is simply the best! I am finding a lot of help! My tutor recommended me to your presentations!
Madam, Very motivating and inspiring presentation on Lit. Review...Could you please share any one review written by you? It would be of immense help. thanks
thanks, Doc I was nearly dying with the two first topics in the dissertation, thanks a lot now I say I understand 50%YET I only understood 0% .this is one of the lectures I wish I was present in person
okay, so a problem in research (social sciences) is lack of replication. replication is not bad. second, using research "big players" and ignoring the "little guys" is so damaging to research. a large cited by number does not always translate to great research with sound methods, it translates to a sensationalist topic, surprising results, big players being so well-known others gravitate to them. but little guys can do good research so dont encourage people to ignore certain articles: read the abstracts, skim the methods and results, etc
You don't understand the lit review process, or its place in SS research. Your lit review has to cover major works on your narrow topic. You're correct - that in itself does not ensure validity. However, you're also required to a) be critical of your sources, citing holes and problems in their research; and b) be critical of your sources by choosing them carefully, eg sources that have passed peer review. The issue of replication is irrelevant to the lit review section. It properly belongs in the methodology section, and the ability to replicate and/or verify should be built in. For example, if you're using Contextual Content Analysis as your methodology then you would use and inter-coder for verification, and include in your results the coefficient of choice that represents intercoder-reliability.
