This song is prophetic: they WERE going to be OK. Life for Band-Maid was a struggle at first -- the first two years. But once the international fans heard them, their future was secure. Band-Maid did not write this song, but you can still see their musical talent and their promise shining through. They ARE okay. My two favourite songs from the first album are this song ("Be OK") and "Forward" -- the latter of which they still sing today.
K-Ross, good luck with your rankings. I have found out for myself that it's almost impossible, with their discography of over 130 songs to rank them. Half way through your list you go "Wait a minute, how about . . .!" Every Maidiac does that. The Maids music is so much fun that you tell yourself, "Why in the hell am I doing this?" Don't worry about the feedback from the fans saying," Why in the hell did you rate this song over this other song." Don't say this publicly, but it's okay to think "Fuck off, this is my list and when I hear a new song that I really like, I'll rank it!"
Super nice intro collage of Band-Maid awesomeness. This song is so pop punk and it's so much fun! I seldom listen to this album but I think once in a while I'd really enjoy listening to this bouncy fun vibe. Yet more proof that they can not only play any style, but blow everyone out of the freaking water in every stinking genre!
@@K-RossReacts PinD collages are still photo collages of Band Maid loosely geared to one of their songs. Put out by Shreddawg on his youtube page. Many off stage photos used.
You are gonna find they were really pop-punk in their early days! "Be Ok" is still one of my favourite songs by them! - there is a glorious live of this in a tiny club back in the day - Miku isn't even 'wearing' her guitar and the energy is off the scale!
First time here. First off, that intro was BADASS! You must do this professionally. Second, this is the first time I've seen anyone do Be OK. I love that whole album, but for it to be the FIRST song you hear from them on recording is just SO GOOD! Subbed. :)
Band-Maid's older, somewhat overlooked songs are going to be rediscovered for years to come. This will bring a continuous flow of new fans into their fold. Some of these tunes are heavy, hard punk rock adding a new depth of artistry to the Maids many fans didn't know they had. Of course, for Maidiacs, they always knew about these bitchin tunes long ago and still listen to them all the time. Thx, Ross!
Early Band-Maid is just as relevant today as their current songs. They Just ROCK!!!! You could actually take some of your donated $$ and purchase their CD's, like Chan Fry does, instead of supporting Spotify, no? Support The Maids!!! P in D is a GREAT source for non-Band-Maid official video songs. Though they were not writing their songs back then but they show how Freaking TIGHT they are.....very impressive.
Very early on they were searching for "their" sound and this style was largely being directed by their management/label. It's one reason why this material is harder to find. Kanami mentioned recently that she was not convinced by the early style and Miku, Saiki, and the others at various times have made similar comments. Misa almost left the band mainly because of musical style. They were right. Maid In Japan barely made a ripple. That said, there are some well written/performed songs and a couple that the band is still fond of. After Made In Japan, they recorded the "Love, Passion, Matador" single, which was even farther away from where they would eventually land. 'Thrill" was first song presented to them that all five of them really liked and it was the chosen to be the B-side of "LPM." They pushed for their first music video to be the B-side "Thrill" and not the A-side. At this point, they still were not recording their own music but they pushed for a significant change in musical direction which would evolve far more once they started recording their own music beginning in 2016.
Ohhhh, I'm gonna enjoy this journey. You're gonna see A LOT of growth from Band-Maid and enjoy nearly every song in doing so. A tip/hint - with these early songs, whenever you feel that Saiki's vocals have changed a weee bit in..... idk.... cadence/pitch.... , then it is Miku singing. Band-Maids' first 3 "mini" albums have a lot of duel vocals between Saiki and Miku, and at times. I literally mean from verse to verse. This is gonna be fun.
Truly amazing- the energy and passion from the get go- first song, first album . This band is just consistently brilliant. Definitely a punk drum pattern.
It is obvious that in the first three albums the authors of the songs they chose to perform had a clear influence in the writing of their own music thereafter. Bon voyage K-Ross. Gonna be Ok.
I actually really love these first couple albums from them. Because of the fact that miku was just learning how to play guitar. There was more of the duet/harmonies between Miku and psyche. I always consider to be there. A sixth weapon is there alice in chains style, harmonies and vocals
The live version of Be OK from the May 2015 Club Crawl Tokyo is a pure pop punk fun, they look like the young girls they were in 2015. Be sure to have a watch of that once you do this official recorded version. They had the massive fun energy from the get go.
Brother I still can't comprehend why you're putting yourself through this whole ranking process but gobhard my son as we Maidiacs are the very lucky beneficiaries, haven't heard this song in so long,, should have been a big hit outside of Japan, thank you and what a fcken band Po, Kanpai 👍🍻
The Ladies Pop-Punk roots. Honestly, I wish they would work out the issues so they can put Maid in Japan on their YT page with their other releases. I enjoy MIJ as much as I do all of their other releases.
Thank you ahead time for this fine project ! This album contains a song that prefigures, imo, what later Band Maid will sound like... It's hard to say why but it became a go to song from my FIRST listen ! We'll see what you think of the unforgettable KEY ! ❤️🗝️
Very Avril Levine, very pop-punk. Reminds me of Friends, The Rembrandts, The Producers. I see this in my minds eye as the backing to a 90s romcom montage.
I think this is the perfect opener for their debut album. Love it! btw maybe you should consider the Mission Impossible theme as your intro?🤣No, your intro is awesome.
I've always had problems with "Top 10" kind of lists, myself. There are simply too many factors to account for, like mood, circumstance, time of day/night, etc. Plus, I often run into that eternal conundrum of how I can absolutely LOVE a song, but I only want to hear it in context of the whole album, and not just added randomly into a mix. Then, if an album has 8 or 9 or whatever of my favourite songs on it, it feels bizarre to essentially put the entire album into a list, which would deny me the ability to listen to it on shuffle, because I'd be anticipating what the "next song should be" and get thrown off when it didn't, lol. In years past with most artists, I would be annoyed about there only being one or two songs on an album that I liked, but at least it made for an easier "Miscellaneous Singles Mix", but with Band-Maid's earlier albums, I'm hard pressed not to want to put every song in the mix. Not quite so much with their latest stuff, sadly, but that's just my personal preference. I can still be in awe of their skill and genius and ongoing exploration of their craft, but that doesn't automatically translate to me loving a song simply to enjoy it. Studio track Thrill is close to a number 1, but Hate? will never be on one of my playlists, despite the obvious epic performance and talent. I just don't care for it as a "I love that song" kinda thing.
Sweet intro. Looking forward to the series. Incidentally, it’s a little tough to make out your commentary during the song. Might want to adjust the levels a bit for the next time you’re using Spotify.
Enjoy the ride, journey, quest, through the ladies music,a lot of the early stuff was written by outsiders, but the bones are there of what we have now,,From ,Alone, onwards its all BM composisions.

Well I'm going to go on this journey with you. There are some songs that I haven't heard yet. And a few of them are off this first album. But damn they were really great right from the start.
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! one minor shall we say nitpick MISA is in all CAPS and in your opening you only have her first initial capitalized other than that excellent job

I don't use apple music for the videos, I just mean that it needs to be on Official Releases, like hosted on Spotify, Apple Music etc, to qualify. I usually use RUclips for the audio to capture :)
going to be a tough task. As others have said they weren't writing their own stuff until 3rd album (as you know from the documentaries) and I'm led to believe that they quite often just took whatever was offered to them (that was rejected from other bands). Quite remarkable what they did with them, nevertheless. There are common critisisms with some of the mixes on their studio stuff (Miku's harmonies too low, overly compressed, etc) and they really elevate some of these tracks live ... you may be disappointed with the studio version. There's certainly a good dozen or so that I wasn't too fussed about, but seeing the live version completely changed my mind. Also some song complexity does sometimes require several listens to fully appreciate (that happens a lot to me though anyway!) Happy Journey! 😃
Gotta remember their songs were written for them up until "Alone". Just a suggestion... either pause to comment or turn the music down or your mic up, lol. Couldn"t understand what you were saying while the song was playing. Other than that, I'm looking forward to this journey.
Haha thanks dude! Will never EVER pause, but will have a look at the volume, this was the first time I've taken audio from something not on RUclips (spotify), which is probably why it was very loud
BAND-MAID had all the talent in the world even then & it's fantastic to see them in full bloom 10yrs later.🤗

I can't do a ranking. My most listened to songs are always changing.
Band-Maid's first album "Made in Japan" was essentially a pop-punk album.
The best live rock band on the planet...maybe ever.
They have gathered up all the loose ends of rock to weave their magic, but there's a pretty strong strand of punk DNA running through most of it.
👍🍻
Mate, if you see a photo collage video from P and D, that's usually the studio (audio) version so I think it won't be unfair.
Don`t worry Ross, in the end it`ll all Be OK !!!
