100 tons is the maximum capacity of the fully configured machine, this one is a lot smaller. The ice is used for seafood preservation on fishing vessels etc. The explanation is on the manufacturer web site.
There appear to be 20 blocks of ice per "run". Each block appears to be about (SWAG) 200 gallons (US). 1 (US) gallon of water (@62 Deg F) weighs up to 8.34 pounds. 200 gallons * 20 blocks * 8.34 pounds = 32,960 pound of water or 16.48 tons per run. Ignoring loss of water due to slight thaw to remove blocks from molds, an unknown solution (yellow stuff at end) used to freeze the water in the molds, it could be presumed 100 tons of ice per 8 hour production shift (given 1 hr to freeze each run= 6 hrs plus 2 hrs per shift for maintenance, setup/reset and sanitation). It's all in the labeling/marketing.
If you saw how foamy white that ice was that means it's not pure. Clear ice that multiple days to produce. When the ice is approximately 1 to 2 inches a hole is punched in the top and the interior water is removed and filled with purified water and a salt tablet added to pull the remaining impurities out of the water. When the ice is crushed to make bagged ice the foamy center is discarded. The remaining clear ice is your bad guys. The production of this ice in my opinion is for commercial use such as in the fishing industry possibly shaved or chipped to be placed over captured fish. Just an observation on my part. I worked in a block ice house and we produced clarified ice for consumption.
I worked in an ice plant that made ice on a vertical sheet then it got broken up and used for shrimp boats. Then it had a seperate line that took ice chips and pressed them into block form as water flowed over it. Then it was bagged and palletized and stored.
is there any way i can sponsor someone to make this machine in Greenland and put some ice in the sea? like i think meby that help on the ice melting there and sole a big problem to let me know if this is possible thank you
Just so you know, that's actually less than 5 tons of ice. If you can't tell that from first glance then you really don't know much about the ice-weighing business... don't worry, you'll get there eventually.
sockpuppetbitme that's just one batch. If you knew anything about ice machines you would know that a thousand pound machine is rated for a thousand pounds a day. Douche bag learn your shit before flapping at the lips.
I cannot believe there are so many here doubting about 100 tons.. It's a 100 tons ice maker, not a 100 tons lifter.. Dont make innocence your weapons...
The machine is a modern Chinese copy (copy? Never from China..) of an original factory at Kingston upon Hull in the UK. The UK factory is now a museum but the ice was made for the massive fishing fleet they once had there. I expect this Chinese one is meant for keeping fish fresh too.
The crane was labelled 5 ton, so each batch couldn't be more than that. However, if they had 20 batches in process than yes "100 tons ice block machine"
100 tons is maximum process in batch every tank is 100kg max, 18 tanks in length so.. on video is 1,8 ton max. (probably less, i suppose half - with 50kg tanks)
J, clear ice needs to be made from flowing water, it has little to do with the purity of your water unless it is visibly contaminated. The white ice you see here is due to the way the molecules set up, for example; snow.
In India and Pakistan, the ice is sooooo cleaned and healthy that you will find mice, rate or frog! Never buy and drink any drinks with ice in those country!
These guys were barefoot on icy cold ground. That is pretty crazy. Or maybe it’s not cold, but then the process would be less efficient not to mention it seems unsanitary either way.
I hope that ice is not for human consumption... no real separation between the coolant mix and the ice chambers and then just dump them on the floor and drag them all over that facility... maybe they are dropping it off at the north pole to help combat global warming... lol
Budi Leksono Jajajaja, you know, even some Chinese would argue that those ice makers are even imported from some other country! Maybe the country you are living in
Seems like a pretty chill place to work.
Not Really the boss is always giving me the cold shoulder.

It is amazing to know that 100 years ago, we did not know how to make ice. We take many technology for granted today.

Bob Warren I don't think it's going to end up in a drink!
The ‘five second rule’ applies. It’s all good
That isn't food grade ice, exposed to the coolant in open containers like that.

Jesus Christ are non of you actual master ice crafters? That's quite clearly 100000 kilos of only second grade ice, first freezing most likely.
Ha ha .. you guys are arguing about ice..
Maybe in your backward country but not here in Swaziland where ice is life...
I cannot believe there are so many here doubting about 100 tons.. It's a 100 tons ice maker, not a 100 tons lifter.. Dont make innocence your weapons...
刘京倍 i think you mean ignorance
So is that 100T/hr, 100T/day, 100T and machine blows up, what ?

Good nice
it would be good to see where they get the water, and how they purify it... tap water in china is not for drinking...
What is the ice used for?
Breen Whitman to make stuff cold I would imagine, or maybe to make cold stuff...
That doesn't look very sanitized from my point of view...
