Imagine how many eyes have been lost from flying metal shrapnel coming out of these over the years.
My dad has one of these in our garage. He lets me use it to shred up logs and any leftover house stuff we don't use. But he always makes me take a few steps back, and safety goggles when using it. I never understood why. until a shred of glass was shot like a bullet through the garage window, which cracked. grinders are dangerous if you're careless.
When the guy threw in that shock with the spring on it made me think of someone throwing a grenade in the machine. Would've definitely hid under some protection for that one.

Yeah, I'll bet these machines would make one hell of a smoothie.
Asteroids are one thing.
But this invention frightens me to the core.
Simply because a single lifeform came up with it and can will others to build such a machine
I'm hoping someone here may be familiar with these machines and have the answer to this question, not sure where else I could ask. Logistics of getting the items to the machine aside, could a machine such as this be used to destroy explosives the size of anti-personel landmines or IEDs? Even if they exploded, would it be enough to damage the crusher?
Explosions will definitely damage the alignment of the claws which will cause heavy damage as the machine claws would destroy each other, unless the motor is not strong enough or has a safety measure, then the whole thing would just stop

I did find a video where they put a hammer in it and it jammed up. Tool steel is one of the hardest steels
