Depending on the manufacturer that may be more than just excessive TBH that looks beyond the service limit! you may need a new piston w/ rings, and honed cylinder.
Well…… actually the rings were bad. This was a trashed unit and the clearances were way off. The engine smoked and after testing, we found the rings and cylinder were very worn. A lot of piston slap.

Piston is always smaller on the. Pin line, tighter fit cross wise,,,, that is, thrust side, across block

No, that movement is correct because the engine you're touching is cold. When it heats up, rings expand.
