    Kody, found your video to be very helpful, I believe it has served its purpose very well. Simple, straight forward, no rushing, laymans "lingo", and, you didnt let your level of professionalism over ride the basics for the novices. Job well done.

    By far this is the best DIY lesson. My wife and I are about to start on our garage project, i've always wonder if its necessary to mud the middle part of the dry wall not only the connecting pieces?

    Hey Kody you've helped me out with the bathroom i'm doing, thanks
    when your doing the angles why do you do one side at a time? why not load all sides and use a corner trowel?
    Thanks

    • @brock8993
      @brock8993 7 лет назад +2

      There are a few problems with using the corner trowel:
      A) It is hard get the amount of control you would like in a corner trowel, especially if inexperienced. so a lot of times mudd is either left on too thick which requires more dry time or too thin which requires an additional coat... more often than not a bit of both if less experianced with that tool.
      * keep in mind a heavy mudded inside corner will show that much more when baseboard is installed
      B) the 3 way corner (6inches where wall meets ceiling) is always left a mess with heavy gouges that require a "fill" or "leveling" coat which will shrink and need to be topped up again
      C) you will still need to recoat and attempt to "feather out" the work done by the corner trowel
      Out of all the videos I've seen on youtube, Chad most resembles the efficient way I've learnt to hand tape and the 30 year guys that taught me.
      Coat one side at a time... get it right the first time and it's done..... only 1 coat is needed on each side if done right. And with a fan it is usually ready for the other side the next day.
      For my corners I use a 4in black handle Richard knife. it's sold as a scraper with a super stiff blade that tapers to a point. I always sand or grind off the taper so it's just flat with no pointed edge. that makes it better for laying tapes (doesnt catch or pull with the edge) and it's stiffness is great for coating

    I'm remodeling my first 100-year-old house, mine. I ran into the problem of not being able to run my sheetrock horizontal (which seems to make it easier to mud), the support 2 x 4's were 16 inches apart behind the mud walls, sometimes, sometimes less and sometimes more. I wonder how many times you have run into this or do you just do new construction?

    • @uptokode
      @uptokode  6 лет назад

      Sounds like you will have an issue running vertical OR horizontal If the stud layout is off like you said. I would still run horizontal and just cut the sheets to fit. Ya it’s more cutting but You don’t have much choice.
      If you try to run vertical and still have the rip it in width then that messes up the factory bevel so you’re hooped that way too.
