The canal is my nemesis, and I've never done well there.
But you make it look so inviting again.
Under match situation though surely those fish beyond next peg wouldn't count?
Or is it half way to next angler.

So long as your not past halfway between the next angler, a lot of the time you’ll get a 3 peg gap there

That allows me to accurately mark the depth on my topkit and give me a reference point if I want to change depth

What I like to do is plumb full depth then work from that

Start deep and you’ll get indications then work your way up
