This taught me so many things on approaching my next tactic creation on #fm19, one word supa
I used this tactic for my latest career with a awful set of players to begin with. It was really a joy to finally get a better understanding of the different roles, attributes and how to replace and mold the team members one by one until i had a set that basically steamrolled almost any other team. Thank you so much for your tips and great videos!
Thank you, very insightful. I've never used inverted wing backs, love them now.
Slightly modified this with my Southampton title winning team and they have stepped up a level this year, the inverted wingbacks are something I have never really used before but they way they work on the pitch works very well.
This saved my career at Hereford. I got my team all the way into the premier league, survived relegation on the final day with a win at results going my way. Second year, dead last, miserable and unenjoyable. I was chopping and changing the team and tactics with no benefit. Kept my job just, and saw this video and got great intel into how to set up my tactics. I kept hold off a 20 year old wonderkid I am basing the team around and he is killing it. Scoring goals and winning has brought the enjoyment back. Thanks bust the net.
By the way I know this video has been out for over a year but I love fm19 and the save I have
just watching the video all sounds perfect to me as an admirer of pep style of football
Him: "If teams are gonna attack you then Hallelujah"
Me : Evil grin
Creating a similar tactic, with CM-S & DLF-S instead of RPM & F9
Attractive and effective play, been succeding at Salford for 6 season
I stayed and it was a nice surprise, thanks.
Great Video, thank you. I have a question regarding the training. I tried implementing the main keep ball regime and after a while my defensive block players start complaining about not being given enough attention. Is this something you just live with or do you alternate the regimes from time to time/for specific opponents to keep everyone happy. Thanks again
My first experience of this formation led me to 7-0 at half time, with two goals and two assists from each of my front three and I forced them to make 5 changes! RIP Barry Town
my style of play is like leicester , fast fast transitions , is a sinic football , and i like win games with 5 mnts of ball , iam you fan , recreat a killer counter attack , with the correts rolls for players , don t stop you are the best
great tactic thank you! just a quick question. the files you have in the dropbox link. what folder do they go into?
Hey man. Great tactic. Was wondering if we could have the link for the training schedule? Thanks in advance and keep up the great content you're coming up with
4123 is really good in this. I used your Man City replication as a basis for my own 4123 (I had Winger + IF and Mezzala + BBM) and I consistently create overloads on the flanks, which then create space in the middle for my midfielders which push up & consistently end up in space to shoot, dribble or pass. So many goals I scored from good shots from outside the box lol
Because of the movement you generate, you can potentially create tonnes of diagonal through balls and because your move players around near the edge of the box, those arriving late, if they have good long shots are even more dangerous.
@@BusttheNet I struggle to create many through balls actually! It's more long shots usually. It got better when I added more chance creation training and technical training but training generally is still arcane to me. But yes, I had Pogba (and Pereira) in midfield. One game Pogba scored a hat trick from outside the box lol
I have a 10 min quick training guide coming out which hopefully simplifies it for people by sticking to the basics that i follow
@@BusttheNet Great! I look forward to it
@@BusttheNet did you release the training guide yet ? id love your training setups if you wouldnt mind uploading them too please
very good tatic , i testing a deep ling in Dm ande a taker in CM and have good results
hi, been using this particular tactics of yours and i seem to have a lot of problem trying to get pass those teams that uses a 4141 system. any recommendations or advice?
Seems really nice, but how does it work using inverted wing backs with overlap TI? My first thought was that those options are mutually exclusive.
Is there any alternative to F9 so maybe using AF or Poacher? I like that my attacker scores a lot. I will try tactics later. Thanks
Hello Rahidi ;-)
Just started as a patreon. Thought i had to support your great work for the FM community. I have a few questions regarding this 4123 tactic for you.
1. Why do you use a roaming playmaker ? Is it because you want to build play from the back ? Is the other things that play a part ?
2. Why is the IWB told to dribble less ? I thought they was suppose to move the ball forward in that way !!!
3. What will happen if you used a CM instead and gave him the same PI's as the playmaker. Would they act the same ?
4.I have used this tactic on my team but i must admit that i dont really have the players for it. No Mez and no RPL. So i changed the central roles to an AP and a BTB and it is working better than i expected. Would you say this was ok ? The tactical style is exactly the same. Im getting a hell a lot of chances but not that many goals. Probably because my shooting in general sucks.
Keep up the good work
Cheers All the way from Denmark !!!
I want to see a getting started with Man United and how you can use Paul Pogba as a Mezzala.
great video man, would’ve been great if you left a download link with training schedules.
I’m playing with a 4-3-3 wide and I have a DPL, mezzala, RPL. However my RPL doesn’t get many assists or goals and he’s also extremely vulnerable defensively. So I switched to a B2B but we didn’t create as many chances.
Is bad to have one winger in this tactic to be Inside forward ??? Because i have one beasty brazilian in team wich suits perfectly for this
Tried to recreate this in FM2016 (I own FM19 but still like FM16) in my Aue save, it was so funny seeing my mediocre FC Erzgebirge Aue in an away match against a very strong Hertha (just relegated from D1) dominating every area of the pitch producing some spectacular highlights. What I noticed is that the AI struggled hard against this high d-line double block pressing formation - no spaces to exploit so some funny moments of the AI getting embarassed. Seems like the match engine hasn't changed that much since then.
I've only just come across this video and been using practically the same tactic with my Paris Fc side and it's amazing. I was amazed to see how close it is to my tactic and I wouldnt call myself a tactical genius who knows maybe I am I've just lost in the euro cup semi final to Barcelona 6-5 on agg in my 3rd season with Paris DC so cant be bad.
Oh one big thing I noticed is you play very attacking whereas I play positive
Well, just trying this tactic out with Manchester United with FM20. In pre-season, we just beat Tottenham 3-0. 30 shots to 2, 61% possession. Have made a couple of transfers, but none of them are available, so just using the starting squad (less Ighalo, Bailly and Shaw, who are away/injured).
U are the one!
funky intro!
Thanks
It's strange to me that i've been making a lot of tactics lately ,that seem almost identical to this except i use a Half back in DM, but it has been super vulnerable to crosses defensively
That has to be down to player selection, in the IWB position and your screen in front of them.
Still a great video for FM20
Struggling to score in some games, got any tips? Thanks
Do you have any good players to sign for this system ?
Can anyone recommend a way of testing tactics for example in this video we see the shape of the team when in attack is there a way of seeing this when not in a game
What opposition instructions do you use ?
Why the IW on the left is set to defence and the IWB on the right is set to attack?
I just started to use this tactic and wow. 5 games in the EPL, drawn 1 won 4. My side finished in 17th last season
@@ivanmassimo4324 I just paused it at every position and setting as he went through it on the video. Make sure you watch the whole thing because he shows some of his training at the end.
BTW I now haven't lost in 8 games and just beat Manchester City 3-0
To be honest I have CR7 and Messi in the team but I'm playing on a database which has added 4000 all time greats and made current stars like Messi etc 16 with states that they would have had at that age.
Surprisingly I managed to purchase them for 40 million each. I blew my budget on them in my first 2 seasons. My team is up against Pele etc with almost perfect stat's lol.
Messi only scored 1 in 22 last season so I don't feel that Messi is OP.... Yet lol
sir please what about training Intensity to reduce injuries
If you don't have a mezzala who can you use
can i use Regista instead of DM Support?
Still viable in FM21? I remember this was excellent in fm19. I will probably put it together in 2 seasons time.
the problem with the split block is that a lot of times these guys will get booked, sometimes even from the start of the game, if the referee is in love with his whistle
Then don’t tackle hard. Just close down more and do a bielsa marking system
Where do we get the tactic from ?
Its funny I tried this with Chelsea and the first game we lost to Crystal Palace 6-1. I sincerely dun believe that a team like Chelsea with its players can lose by that much? I checked your roles and the attributes etc and I'm pretty sure the player selections are sound. What in the world can go so wrong that we are broken apart this humiliatingly with this tactic? I really want to learn and know why.
I have download it, but i can't load it? can someone tell me why? I download another tactics and load it easly.
I started season with Villarreal, they have many good dmf/cmf/amf and 2 great strikers...i sold wingers and played romb 4-4-2. This gave me oportunity to use all best players
I started tactic from nothing, watched lot of comprehensive highlights and was writing down on paper whats wrong...i had great tactic at the end of season. I finished 7th
Then i started game again with Villarreal, employed same tactic from beggining...almost ended up 1st. If i had more depht and slightly better players first place would be mine
This way i know my tactic is very good
I want to go to Barcelona style of football this next season...i am just doing something wrong and i cant figure out exactly what is happening. Even in real life i watch all Barca games... i should know how to play it...
With 4-4-2 romb my team gets 20+ shots per game, we dominate constantly and end up attacks with clear one on one situations
I just dont get how to play 4-3-3 thats why i am on yt videos about tactics. I want to have also 4-2-3-1 Real Madrid tactic
Is it just me that in the game not showing for close down more instruction?
How do I download this tactic?
I guess I'm just bad at this game. Been trying to implement this system to my 2030 Bayern side with little success. Aside from having world class players, I was very optimistic about it because they fit the required roles pretty well too. The result is just ugly football with a bunch of 1-0 wins from set pieces and an occasional long shot. Just played Mainz 05 and they went down to 10 men in 29th minute so I switched to full match to see how it would play out. Won 1-0 from a corner, the rest was physically painful to watch. I can see the potential in transitions but it's just not happening for me in the final third. From watching this match alone I would never have guessed they were a man down.
I'm giving up and going back to my old approach. I found myself turning off the Pass into space instruction more and more. Sometimes I would even get dominated by poor sides which at least didn't happen with my own old tactics. I just don't get this game sometimes.
Maybe it was the player traits that was pulling you back.
I need some advice, when trying to replicate the tactics I can't reduce the tempo lower than 'standard' how can I change that?
Hmm it depends on your starting mentality. Setting a mentality automatically sets tempo, so you need to lower or increase mentality, i will try and show it in one of the shows later. Probably next two episodes of Staly cos i havent' recorded them yet.
I'm also trying to find out how you achieved this.
wonderfull tactic you made. A question though. Would it be possible to replace the DM with a DPL ? Im thinking i could also change the RPL to a box to box instead, to prevent to playmakers.
No if you change the DM to a DLP you affect transitions, I wanted the ball to go simple from defence to the two in the middle. With Stalybridge i even use an Anchorman. And i don't really like how the BBM move in FM19, plus I need the RPM there to dictate the play and switch the focus to other sides plus be a magnet. So i wouldn't use a BBM, between BBM and CM(S) I would prob go CM(S)
@@BusttheNet Just to get you 100% right. Is it because the DPL is having "hold position" as not removeble, while the DM is free to move forward ?
No because he is too deep, i want fast simple passes to the central midfielders, not someone occasionally looking for the glorious pass, its purely a role. It was either Anchor or DM. i wont' use any other role
Can we not just call this tactic a 4-3-3 like we do IRL? The 4-3-3 with 3 cm's and 3 st's is 4-3-3 narrow so it's not like there's any confusion.
or can we download your tactics svp
What skin are you using?
Hi BusttheNet. I love the tactic, it's working great for my team. I have some questions about game management. How would you adapt the tactic when winning and looking to close out/control the remainder of the match, e.g 70 mins onward if we have a comfortable lead? Since we are on very attacking, can we reduce the mentality? if so what to. Conversely, what would you change when losing/drawing and looking to get a goal? I know you mentioned that you would change 'passing into space', but I'm not completely sure regarding the scenario.
Thanks again for your tactics and videos. You've taught me a lot about FM!
I usually don't change much, perhaps the only thing i would do is watch what the AI is doing, If it goes into an attacking 424 or 433 i may turn both IWB on defend and remove the overlap. If i face a team that is very defensive I will increase the duties of the two IWBs. to support and attack
You think this could work on fm20?
First of all I want to say I love this tactic! Realy magnificent play.
I only seem to struggle to convert the chances into goals. There are lots of games my team dominates, but we barely score more than one goal..
Do you have any advice on that
The strength of this system is the number of different players who can score. You get long shots from central midfielders, set piece goals and cutbacks.
When I play against very defensive sides I sometimes tell my IWB to go on attack duty, this also makes them goal scorers. It’s especially evident in my Galileo system. IWB are just fullbacks with more movement freedom, so asking them to go attacking is one option especially against systems that are narrow ie. playing without wingers.
The left winger should also be a very good goal scorer as the movement of the right winger and the F9 release him into space. Here the right winger will generate a lot of assists. If it’s less than 10 a season it’s actually a low number. So I would look at improving assists from the winger on the right, making sure the winger on the left is a good goal scorer and putting the IWBs on a higher duty against weaker sides
@@BusttheNet Thx, will give it a try.

I know you're not plug and play and want to teach us, but any chance there will be a download link?
Seems an odd decision.. 🤔
Where can we download this tactic buddy?
any advice on how to break down ultra defensive teams? im managing Ajax and my players are struggling to break teams down and quite often only manage to scrape a 1-0 or draw 0-0
Increase the duties of both IWB
BusttheNet will give it a try, thanks for the response
Brilliant video. Are you able to do a video analysis of how to counter certain formations?
I don't really counter them, i just play to our strengths, and understand the weaknesses of my own system, then when i face certain systems i know what to expect. So if i face a narrow system i might tell my IWBs to go attack. If i face a flat 433 they may both go on defend
Just noticed - IWB's but overlap on both sides?
Read the bio of the IWB.
Great vid! Music at the beginning?
Is there anywhere i can download training schedules ?
I think you have to join his patreon to get the downloads 😕
Why to use a dm (s) instead of a Dlp (d) in the mc strata? I know it's old, but if someone could answer...
I'm interested in the think process. Both options seems conceptually similar. Both supports the building offering an outlet playing from the back along with a safe passing option behind the ball; both are some kind of sitters. Maybe the dm (s) is safest with the ball, giving the burden of creation to the more creative cms? What is the difference in transition att-def or in the defensive phase?
A DM is a generic role that won’t be the focus of passes. He won’t dictate play like a playmaker. So I will expect simple link up play cos we have IWB who are the main focus. Otherwise the ball will get played through before we are ready.
@@BusttheNet simple question about mentality. I want your opinion on this subject. What mentality would you choose to overload one side and switch the ball to a wide, fast, striker aiming to make him the main scorer?
I need supportive movement for most of the players and the Dli or RMD poaching and making disruptive runs, getting less involved in the build up
Let's say:
DliA. F9. IwS
BwmD. Rpm
DlpD
CwbA. Cbs. Cbd. Fbs
SkA
Possessive game, high pressing, high line
Maybe switching wing backs, but i dont know how to achieve balance then. The role of the dm aims to put on sometimes passes in transitions to the wide poacher
Is dliA the best role for this purpose or a rmd would do better. I've tried witt SS in amcl strata and ge gets involved a lot
How did you get "recent match analysis" tab below the tactic?
It appeared?
@@BusttheNet Its not showing in my game

Any advice when using a mid table team and the false 9 gets bad ratings and never scores. Tried three different types. False nine striker, target man playing false nine, fast strikers playing false nine and none seam to work effectively.
What’s his OTB decisions vision and passing?
- I used Lucas paqueta for a while first. He has decisions 15, passing and vision 16.
- my in game management is not the best. How do you adjust when opponents park the bus? I think this may be linked to my false nine not performing.
I also forgot to praise the tactic in my first comment. The tactic did work amazing well with Atalanta when using a tall strong striker for the first season. The passing is amazing and the two centre midfielders are my favourite roles.
How can u make adjustment like cut inside to wingers. I can't make the adjustment!
It's player trait, not instruction.
it's still working FM20?
Do u think the pre set gegen pressing tactic is a true replica of kloops version
It is decent, though it's not accurate. It gives you some of the starting Tis but you need to tweak them slightly. None of the presets are perfect out of the box.
@@BusttheNet thank you
The only sad thing u pushed away Kloppo 😉
Every system depends on players lol
I cant get the winger (support) to cut in. Does anyone know how to fix this?
He needs cut inside as a player trait
I am Wolves and Jota can already cut inside from the left wing. But it is in conflict with the Winger (support) traits. Wont allow me to change anything, it is still 'red'. Thanks for your help by the way, much appreciated.
i am not able to drop the tactics into FM2019. Anyone else having issue?
i got all the views, i thought there was also a 4321LiquidTactic also
Download link available?
Which is the tactical style? (tiki taka, gegenpress, etc)
It’s my own tactical style
it doesnt show up on game when i put those tactics into /tactics folder
Did you figure it out yet?
Yep i did! Thanks tho.. nice tactic
when i try to put **pass it shorter** to my centre backs it dosnt give me that option? anyone know why ?? thanks.
Set team mentality to attacking, then set passing to direct using team. Now go to the defenders PI and click on the player passing instructions first notch. You will then see the "OK" button light up. Now save. You get "pass it shorter"
@@BusttheNet thanks man, ill try that when i get home from work :), so far this tactic is insane!
I started using this tactic but close down more was nowhere to be seen.
You just have to up the pressing importance
There is something that I don't get. Why your wingers should "stay widen" and "run wide with ball" when they like to "cut inside" at the same time?
A player trait is a tendency to do something, so by choosing them to be wingers i can get them to sometimes go down the wing and sometimes cut inside. If they didnt have the trait i would set them as IF
@@BusttheNet Thank you for your comprehensive answer! :)
So i get best of both worlds. Since a player trait is an inclination and a role tends to be one too. So now there is a 50-50 chance that he will either go down the wing or cut inside which gives my system a bit of unpredictability
This tactic work with underdogs or only the top team?
With Stalybridge I had to change two roles.
@@BusttheNet witchi rols and wath are the changes?
yea, Torino second in the league.. seems legit and real. this game really has no realism in it when you play against middle or low clubs.. you pick Burnley and end up in champions league ...
At the end of the day its only a game. If you leave the computer to play by itself then perhaps in that world without humans we could get more realistic outcomes.
Leicester winning the Premier League was very unrealistic too
you dont understand. leicester wint repeat that in real life, but obviously this guy can playfm 19 year in year out with torino in champions league... believe or not but if i was playing for lets say watford,i would not enjoy i would beat top 6 teams on regular basis and playing CL every year. i plaay for chelsea and its absolutely fine for me to sometimes lose againts man city ,pool or even bottom teams.i just like realism.i know that torino wouldnt in top 6 if managed by AI and thats the difference between Ai and managong by hikan player.
@@premier_leaks erm atalanta who have a tiny budget compared to other teams in Italy just beat out inter and milan to get 3rd place in Seria A. their football was pretty straight forward. they will if they are clever now be able to make a few better decisions in transfers and may now become a contender for champions league each season. how do you think the teams became contenders in the first place they just made the right decisions at the time. heck Chelsea not that long ago was a mid table side yet after 2 seasons became a league winning and champions league nearly every season side.
Man United when Ferguson took over were a top 8 side. they had a lot of history but was rarely a real contender for the title, look how that ended up turning out so you complaining about realism is stupid as if it was realistic you would of been sacked at Chelsea after 1 season.
Do u keep the same mentality for all games even away to a top team ?
No sometimes i change mentality. Depends on the game itself, there have been times with LFC where i think the AI is being too aggressive and I actually drop it down to Balanced to feel the game out. Or i remove the overlap shouts
Thank you, would explain why I’m getting battered by top 6 teams away from home 🤣also can you give a player the dives into tackles trait as a substitute for low bravery
@@willfarmer3729 tbh I have never thought of giving that trait to a player myself. I must try it to find out
BusttheNet I’m going to try as I have a very good cm with only 8 bravery, thanks for the help top man
why overlap in both sizes? anyone could explain me?
I used it for positioning to get them higher up the pitch. Cos overlap affects mentality + there are times when the IWB will overlap as well.
@@BusttheNet thanks
Hahah made the exact same system with Utd ages ago, namely the two wingers and inverted fullbacks, I had midfielders playing the IWB roles and they scored shit loads and had very hjigh avg ratings
So... what actually happens if you don't play Wingers/IWB? And you play IF/WB? Playing Messi as a Winger is a sacrilege
@@Arienette69 Then you are just using the same boring 433 system eveyone else has been using for the past how many years since 1 up top became popular
on higher mentality encourages lower possession football , because the players mentality is higher therefore they play higher risk passes while lower mentality encourages ball retention and shorter passes because the mentality is lower.
No it doesnt.
Sickboy 666 well it does , look at mentality and look how changes tempo from higher to a lower mentality , and lower mentality’s change risk , so a player with a lower mentality will choose a lower risk pass than one with higher mentality .
@@Coconutbob137 in general theory, yes. But not every player has the same mentality. For example, using attack does increase the defenders passing range, but it shortens the attacking players range. Vice versa, a more defensive mentality yeilds lower passing for defenders, and more direct for attackers. Hence if you really want a good possession tactic, balanced is the way to go (as they are all on the same mentality). However you may lack penetration.
@ViệtCộng i didnt say they were. Just advising that he wasnt fully correct
Not necessarily, that can always be changed with TIs, PIs, and duties and conversely a lower mentality might lead to a lot of toothless possession. It's all about balance.
Hi Daljit! Firstly, thank you for all the stuff you have shared with the community during all these years! I enjoy it a lot. I wanted to give a go to your "best tactic" :). So far I have lost all the games and got two draws with it. Apart of massive scoring problems (despite generating a fair share of changes), the worst thing was this equalizer in the 91 min in a friendly match ruclips.net/video/i2FrTSBx6QE/видео.html Maybe the SK in attacking mode of your Liquid 4123 is quite suicidal...
Then adapt it to your own, when I use it with Stalybridge, he is on support and the DM is actually an anchorman. You also need to be careful with player traits as this leverages off it a lot. So if you your IWB has traits like runs ball down flank then that too will be an issue.
would you say this is still your favourite/best tactic?
Yeah still is without a doubt
it is amazing. Would you change anything about it now that you’ve had several months to try it?
is it possible to download this tactic? i wanna test it so much

I bet it wont work with my Sheffield fc team. Inconsistency is their raison d'etre.
With Stalybridge we have inconsistent players as well, but i do a blog series as well identifying what i do to get some consistency with one player specifically, there though we do tend to move between firefox and liquid
Loads of long shots but not really scoring, would shoot less often ruin the tactic?
Maybe, but i think, it could be down to your players OTB

@@Danimal_Media If you want them to cross same foot with flank, if you want inside running or cutting inside then opposite foot. If they have the ability to cut inside and score then opp foot. If you look at my Liquid system it specifically uses players who cut inside and score playing as wingers.
my f9 never scores
Buy Messi.
F9 will either be a completely support or his a god who does it all. Depends on the player
