Hi, ex-samsung engineer here - when heating the device, place it on its front rather than the back.
The reason for this is that the heat is not being applied directly to the battery or NFC/wireless charging coil, and removing the back glass is a lot easier.
The heat will also evenly distribute throughout the body, and will allow you to remove the back glass.
I repaired s8 s7 note9 and now an s10. At 100 degrees for 2 minutes max I haven't had a problem. Isn't it damaging for the screen thou
@@daniellantos26 It won't damage the displays, no, but you wouldn't use 100°, that's for sure. In three years working for them, I've never had a display damage this way at all.
Will the phone still be water resistant?
Hi sir, i've got a question. If i replace my battery from samsung authorized service, will my s10 plus still be water and dust proof?
@@umutmckk Hi Umut, provided it's done through a SAMSUNG authorised partner, they must pass water resistance tests before the device is given back to you.
We were unable to book a phone out and return it to a customer unless it passed this test.
In short, yes, the handset will be water and dust resistant again. New tape kits are applied when repairing the handset.
As an edit to my original answer, remember that batteries have a 1 year warranty and the remainder of the handset has 2. If the battery has failed within a year, and you provide proof of purchase, it will be done free of charge, provided this shows on tests and the device is free of physical or liquid damage.
Remember that water resistant is for FRESH water, not for salt water, chlorine (swimming pools) etc.

Enter galaxy meme
Yeah, my main phone is galaxy note 9 I've had it since April 2019 and its amazing!
No I dont have a channel on my phones but I do want to start one when I have more phones.
All the phones I do have as of may 2020 are:
Samsung galaxy note 9 (daily driver)
Samsung galaxy s8 ( cracked on front, still works, backup phone)
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 ( does not work)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (daily tablet, cracked on front, still works)
Motorola droid razr (cracked on front line on the screen, still works)
I kinda want to restorate the phones that are cracked, but I don't think I'm ready cause removing glass from Samsung's is really difficult based on the Samsung restorations this guy does.
So as you may have seen by this comment ,I don't exactly see eye to eye on apple, especially with iphone se 2020
Finally! Done with this comment! I've been waiting for someone to ask me that.
I mean , Its okay , it's just it's more mid range than flagship to me . Im just used more flagship/android devices than iOS
As well as me being used to having a stylus , but I've also heard that iphone 12 will have little to no notch and might have 4 camera design like s20 . iPhone 12 series might be be competing with note 20 series. Also what phone is your daily driver? Just wondering

Being a Phone technician and having my first Samsung repair the other day outside of practice devices I was pleasantly surprised with how serviceable it was. Screen replacement on a Samsung A20 which requires parts to be moved to another device would have liked pull tabs of some sort on the battery but lots of heat solves that. All for Right to Repair as many devices can stay out of the landfill with a bit of TLC and a small amount of money on parts of eBay.
Also, thanks for the inspiration from your channel. During the Pandemic I began my own local Mobile Device Repair Business which has been a profound success in my local community repairing iPhones and Samsung's alike. Currently working on an iPhone 7 Screen Replacement, found that investment in tools such as the iFixit ones have worked a treat unlike cheap tools, found out the hard way on my own old iPhone SE. Keep doing what you are doing!

As a person that works at a Samsung certified repair center that was a good repair. And recommend using plastic spudger to remove the battery and to remove the water resistant tape on the back glass, take it off when the back is still warm for best removal and at a 45° angle so it doesn't leave residue

When you pulled up the battery at 5:45 it looked as if it had been damaged somewhat as the battery had a slight curve down the middle.
When trying to separate the back cover or the lcd you can dip the prying tool in 96%-98% alcohol or put a drop of it on the prying tool while is stuck inside to make the glue separate fast. Just don't go too fast so you don't break or tear something. And don't use too much of alcohol as it can damage the lcd in some cases.

Interesting thought: If you sold phones in 2 versions, 1 being very easy to repair but had no waterproofing and the 2nd being totally waterproof but not user repairable, I'd bet the general public would go for the latter because they like the thought of a waterproofed phone. Here's the interesting part: I bet if you asked the general public how many had broken their phones screen or needed a battery replaced due to capacity loss vs how many had lost a phone solely due to water damage, the vast majority would belong to the former group.
We tacitly agree to harder and harder to repair phones for reasons like better waterproofing, but we end up needing the ability to easily repair a phone far more often than we need one that's able to take a dunk under water. Humans are dumb sometimes.
that's why I recommend using a temperature gun to make sure you don't pass the one eighty Fahrenheit you can definitely melt components going to 200

Little secret - if you're removing a Samsung back glass and need to clean up the old adhesive residue to apply new adhesive and reuse the glass, use heat + the original adhesive. Put that back glass on 70-80C heat mat, peel off the adhesive strip by hand, then press it against the residue and pull away. Do this repeatedly and when combined with heat it cleans up the residue better than any solvent and scraping/rubbing, and much more quickly.
