  • Rush hour traffic from I-635 near Coit Rd, through the old interchange (left onto North Central Expressway) then east on Belt Line Rd through Richardson and Garland. Fifteen minutes of old-time traffic for your viewing pleasure.

    Awesome video, definitely brought back some memories. I graduated from Allen HS in 90. Between 90 until 95 when I joined the Army I used to fight the Dallas rush hour traffic daily and I can't even begin to count the times I used to drive back to Allen Friday and Saturday nights/early mornings after spending hours country dancing in Dallas at Chances or Cowboys lol Good times. Thanks for posting this

    very , very cool. thank you for posting it. my old stomping grounds.. Pizza Villa no longer there: when the owner died his two sons disputed over the bussiness- so they closed it down completely, it was my favorite pizza! one of the RR tracks you crossed is now a DART rail overhead crossing. that Kroger is ling gone.( just as you stopped at the Glennville red light, i was in the exact same lane in 2000 , but i didnt stop- i went right thru and totaled 2 vehicles . DWI. never drink and drive)

    Thanks for posting! I drove that route (basically from TI on Forest Lane) up 75 to Plano every day and it was brutal on day shift ! 75 and 635 looks like California now with all the sweeping overpasses... I moved out in 93 and sure don't miss all that traffic. There was always construction going on for the 13 years I lived there!

      I remember when the High 5 interchange was being built from 2002 to 2005. It replaced the antiquated loops from the 60s, but didn't completely solve the traffic issues. My family lived in Farmers Branch at the time and frequently visited the Valley View mall and some relatives who lived in richardson at that time. Eventually 635 was updated again in the 2010s with an express lane. (I was born in 1999)

      The high 5 interchange is supposedly the tallest in the world, at 120 feet high.

    I couldn't watch too much, as it made me a bit motion sick. However, it was cool to see the roads back at that time. I lived in Dallas from 1991 to 2002.

    I was 12 when this was filmed. Now in Hurst but I take that ramp all the time when driving for Uber. Now there’s a HUGE ramp from 635 west to 75 n. Beltline is about the same.

    I think Jet Word Travel is a company that sets people up with temporary English teaching jobs in Japan. I don't know if that's what they did back then, but it's what they do now, I think. Were there any hospitals in this video? If so, it's probably the hospital I was born at. I was born in Garland.

    635 and Central (especially 635) looked so much nicer then. With the greenery between east and west bound 635, much easier on the eye. 635 and Central really look ugly as hell now. And the traffic isn't any better for all the new roads.

    • @ForecastLab
      @ForecastLab  5 лет назад +1

      Agreed... interestingly you can see a bit of 635 near the Tollway in the opening clip of Office Space, probably taken around 1998, but I don't know if that was the same as 635 in the 1980s.

    • @magictransistorradio4933
      @magictransistorradio4933 5 лет назад

      Personally, I think 635 does move better than it did before. Though the over pass going 75 north to 635 west is always bad now! The hov/toll road is cool though.
