What a great bunch of cards! All rare to me. ... wish I would have taken your advice about not getting old before I got old...lol. Love chip stains! The Babe Ruth info was awesome. Hope you are feeling better! Peace
Sorry that you can't seep. Always rough. Enjoyed the video! Great cards! I agree that not only fewer production creates rarity, but also higher grades. Thanks for sharing!
That Briggs Meats Irvin is fantastic! and that Lake to Lake Aaron is one I was not aware of! And that '50 Bowman Jackie looks like the best 1 anyone could ask for! Super showcase, Rick!
Rick, love hearing your thoughts on rarity. With modern, I sometimes run into problems finding a common parallel because it’s deep in someone’s collection. But that’s different than what you describe for prewar
@@vintageoddballcards6103; very true. I also think there are different types of rare based on how you collect. For example, building a complete set for a prewar set can be considered rare once complete, although the individual cards might not be that scarce. So many of these sets have been broken up throughout the years, so completing one can be somewhat unique.
Great video Rick. Defining what is a rare card is is subjective because what I might think is rare, may not be rare to you. However, I think if we compare two cards of the same player, we'd probably come closer to agreeing which one is rarer. A good example is the Tom Seaver 1967 Postcard versus a Topps 1967 Tom Seaver. Nevertheless, I enjoy these sort of discussions and also enjoy the cards you've shown.
Such incredible cards! My favorite is that Williams Caramel 3 Finger Brown. Also love that Johnny Evers. All of these are so incredible. I hope the headaches stay away. Take care 👊🏻⚾️
Nice cards. Ive learnt that there is a difference between unique and rare. Its safe to say that most cards are not rare, but many are unique. Photos and newspapers? Yes, definitely rare!!
Oh damn, sorry about the migraine, Rick. I had a spell with one recently and know what you're going through. But turning that into an enjoyable video is a rare gift to us! My cutoff for "rare" in vintage is less than 10 graded across all platforms. I just recently acquired 1928 York Caramels Type 2 of Gaby Hartnett and there are only 2 graded by SGC. 1927 York isn't particularly rare, but 1928 (Type 2) definitely is. The card is at SGC now. Lake to Lake Spahn is one of the top cards on my want list and I agree, not particularly rare, but hard to find because they're sitting in collections.
The ACC has F-154 BB, Washington, Briggs Franks PD (Package Design) (9 Seen) 1953-54 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 valued at .10 each in 1960 May be a different meat package. There are 18 different meat issues listed. Probably many more not cataloged.
I’ve always perceived rarity as how often a card pops up and scarcity as print run. How many of a card were produced. Just a perspective. Love the video sir!
😮. Rick please you need to post more rummage videos. I've told you this before you have an unbelievable collection buddy. That Aaron Evers and on and on crazy. YOU are my favorite Giants fan.
@@vintageoddballcards6103 Appreciate it. I used to have a whole lot more T206 cards back 15 years ago, but sold a lot of them to help pay for college. I still have a bunch though.
First of all, I certainly understand your sleeping issues. Sorry about that. I hope you feel better soon. // This is a nice video. I like looking at cards I don't see often. Thanks for the display. // That Ruth movie card is neat. I have a Red Grange card from a movie in which he was the star. I think it was a silent film too. I think it's a Shotwell card. I probably should dig it out and make a video about it.
Fun video Rick! Tons of great cards showed. I also enjoy making videos late at night, don't have to worry about anyone calling your phone or texting to interrupt the video feed haha
Hey serious question for you. If all the Lake to Lake cards were stapled then how do their exist near perfect ones without staples marks? Were there some not circulated or did Kurt fill those in? Or does PSA grade fake ones?
Great showcase. A rare card to me is something you can’t just go find on ebay any day of the week. That’s why I don’t call many of the popular vintage cards “rare” cause even though they may be expensive, you can definitely find many of them any time you want. There are some cards I’ve been looking for that only pop up once every handful of years. To me that’s rare.
Great cards, Rick! Rarity is tough, because it can include how many were printed, how many people want them, rarity by condition etc. It's rare that anyone knows what rare is. LOL
Love that Willard’s Chocolate Home Run Baker! What a great image, I’ve got a few of the Willard’s Chocolate Boxing cards, really cool stuff Rick. Hope you shake off that migraine, hopefully checking out the cards and making the vid helped you focus on it less
Sorry about your headache. Wait until you hit 76 which I did in February. Anyway I guess if you see the cards often in auctions probably not rare but many desirable. My rarest are the 1928 Tabacalera La Morena St. Louis Cardinals team and Washington Nationals team cards. I think they are beauties but not sure how much team cards are desirable. Feel better!
Well I sure hope you feel better soon! I sure did enjoy seeing that rummage and the description of all those cards! By the way, are you going to the Cow Palace show this weakened?
I consider a card rare when I want it and cant see it go for sale in over a year… not being able to get a card to me means rare.. not just the pop count… I have 2 cards I’ve been looking for about 3 years…. they r RARE ! One of them did come up for sale but it was such in bad condition and a WAY over price I just could not buy it… 3 years later and still looking maybe I should have :)
I store my expensive cards in a bank safety deposit box. Some at my brothers house. Singles in three row boxes. Sets in binders. I don’t have a wall display with cards.
Love these videos! Always learning about new sets and unique items. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Rick. Awesome showing of amazing cards. Thanks for your thoughts, I always enjoy them. Talk soon my friend
Thanks! Never a bad time to show cards.
Beautiful cards Rick! Thanks for showing them. Love the 50 Bowman Jackie.
Beautiful cards. I really enjoyed seeing them and hearing you talk about what you consider rare. Great stuff!!
Thanks!
Thank you for your knowledge Rick! I learned a ton today! Thank you
Really like that Monte Irvin such a nice looking card. Thanks for sharing Rick!

Yep they would hole punch them too.

Rick, love hearing your thoughts on rarity. With modern, I sometimes run into problems finding a common parallel because it’s deep in someone’s collection. But that’s different than what you describe for prewar
I think it comes down to each collector what they think is rare. We have no guidelines for pre-war
@@vintageoddballcards6103; very true. I also think there are different types of rare based on how you collect. All of these were so beautiful, but my faves are that Irvin and Cobb. Sorry you had a headache, I've been there before.
Thanks Jayson!
Get better with the headache. Our gain. Thanks for your approach on rarity. Too often, people come across as "my cards are rare, yours aren't."

A 1912 T227 without creasing is rare
Yep. Almost impossible to find in a mid to high grade.
I thought the Babe comes home was about a baby pig.
The movie Babe the pig was probably a better film than Babe the tobacco spitting slob.
