Great Tuth cards! Love it! Thanks Rick for sharing your knowledge! Never ever realized the backgrounds on these cards! They are great. Thanks ks for sharing the lesson!
Rick, love that you are always providing some great educational moments! I can now share some fun facts to people at the shows I will be setting up at this weekend! I believe I have a few 69 TSN AS's for sale. Make great conversation!
Very cool cards/photo of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. You forgot to mention on the back of the cards there are two players that can be formed. Pete Rose and Carl Yastrzemski. I’m a Pete Rose Super Collector. This was something fun to put together and not many people know about these. Interesting notes on the players in the background. Thanks for sharing the tidbits on these cards. Great information.
You're one of those collectors Rick who has so much knowledge and information of the cards It makes me look at the cards completely differently, players and seasons in a different way. I like you am a vintage collector , and thoroughly enjoy the stories behind the cards. Hope to meet someday... I'm going to be in Cleveland this year for the national and will be at the RUclips meet and greet. once again great research, knowledge and information. health and happiness to you.... Jonathan
GOOD NIGHT EL GRANDE BAMBINO!! such nice cards... DUDE, set building the 1969 topps set many, many times over and over through out the years of collecting.. i never noticed those arent the actualy all star players in the back.. hilarious!! learned something new today!
Same here Mikey. I never really payed attention to the background. I thought it was a given the player in the background would be the same as the Allstar
Hey Rick, nice Ruth cards. I saw that article an was amazed Topps used other players got the backgrounds. I also love the 69 AS cards, my first year I collected.
A fun and informative video. Always cool finding players or different things in backgrounds of cards. I am partial to advertisements. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Hey Rick feel free to show those beautiful Ruth’s anytime! 😁 I saw that article about the 69 Sporting News All Stars, pretty cool, gives a whole new perspective on those cards!
I did not know this, Rick. I still need to add a bunch of these to my 1969 set, I still have to go with 1958 then 1960 as my favorites but these are in my top 5.
Great video and info, Rick! I too love those 69 all star cards but never paid close attention to the background...just always assumed they were of the featured player. I'll never look at those cards quite the same. LOL.
First of all the Ruth cards are amazing Rick thanks for sharing them one more time before they go back to a safe place! I love the 69 set and especially the Allstar cards but never realized the pictures did not match. I know Topps had issues with the players union in 69 and a lot of their cards are old photos. I wonder if that played into these cards also.
Wish that curt flood card came with his wife in the background, L😅L. She was gorgeous. I was 11 years old in 69 and had the whole set, along with 66, 67, 68, 70, 71. Im 66 now and still collect. Just subbed you, and thanks for sharing, bro.
I just read that article the other day. I guess it was easier and cheaper for Topps to alter photos that they had already used instead of finding and paying for action photos of the actual players.
Thanks Rick for the tip on the 68 All Star cards with all the additional players added in the background, kinda like a bonus. I need to go thru my garage storage & see if I still have mine. November 68 would have put me in my senior year of high school, graduating in June 69. I had definitely slowed down buying cards, as my girlfriend & my car became way more important. Still I played ball, so hopefully I kept these cards you just shared with us. Thanks again for bringing up some old memories & have a great weekend.
Wow, Love those Ruth's! That was a great read. I had never thought about it either. The Brooks yep, that was cool to see the actual photo that they showed and it being Hank. Sweet Lou Gehrig photo. Take care.
Great video Rick! I enjoyed learning about the Sporting News photos. Always love to see your American Caramel Ruths! Awesome Gehrig photo! Thanks for sharing!
I don't recall weather it was 68 or 69, but topps lost the rights to many players when the union told them that topps was ripping them off. Topps used old photo & airbrushed players on new teams to put together a set. I wonder if that has anything to do with the odd background photo selection?
Funny how a lot of them are similar looking hitters/ fielders in the background, but just not the same guy. I always thought that was Lou Brock on the Carew card-- my 2 favorite players growing up!
Cool video. Reminds me of the 62 Topps football set where a lot of the action inserts also don't match the player featured on the card. Strange decision by Topps. I think there may still be some 62T football cards where the player in the action shot is unknown.
@@vintageoddballcards6103 Yep. For example, Jurgenson is on Tarkenton's card. Of course they only had 1961 to get an action shot of Fran so it's a bit understandable they had trouble finding a good photo for him, but there are a bunch of mismatched photos in the set. In a number of them Topps doctored the uniform numbers to make them match.
Haha, never knew about the 69T AS cards after all these years. One of my favorite sets which i have. So, are they considered error cards?? Great video.
I had subscribed to that for years then during the boom they started focusing on high selling auctions for memorabilia like Jordan jerseys and got away from cards so I unsubscribed.
Great Tuth cards! Love it! Thanks Rick for sharing your knowledge! Never ever realized the backgrounds on these cards! They are great. Thanks ks for sharing the lesson!
Great information Rick! Never knew that about the background of those All-Star cards.
Crazy I didn’t know either. Always learning
Rick, love that you are always providing some great educational moments! I can now share some fun facts to people at the shows I will be setting up at this weekend! I believe I have a few 69 TSN AS's for sale. Make great conversation!
Maybe you can get a few bucks more if you tell them who’s in the background. lol
Awesome Ruth cards, your collection is incredible. Thank you for sharing
Thanks Orlando! I sure you agree with me on the love for the montage Ruth cards.
Very cool cards/photo of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

Wow; I never noticed that before! That’s amazing.
I didn’t either! Darn topps tricked me
I think it’s cool when Brooks Robinson cards are graded as a “5”
Thanks for watching!
Those Babe Ruth cards.....they are worth showing over and over again Rick!
I agree! Lol
Great to see the Ruth cards ! Thanks for the sleuthing out the background fun ! Great work sir
That's something I might have never known, thanks for the trivia tid-bit!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It means alot
great cards rick. I never knew about the players in the background. great video.
Crazy Ray! After all these years I finally find out that’s not McCovey in the background of his card
Hey Rick, nice Ruth cards. I saw that article an was amazed Topps used other players got the backgrounds. I also love the 69 AS cards, my first year I collected.
I’m amazed too!
The 1969 set was the first I collected. I noticed that they had done that and it didn't make any sense to a 6 year old boy!!! That's for sharing
I’d had no idea they messed with the background. I should have noticed it.
Great stuff as always Rick! Thanks for sharing the Ruth's one last time!!
A fun and informative video. Always cool finding players or different things in backgrounds of cards. I am partial to advertisements. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Thanks! Always fun talking and showing cards
Hey Rick feel free to show those beautiful Ruth’s anytime! 😁
I saw that article about the 69 Sporting News All Stars, pretty cool, gives a whole new perspective on those cards!
Thanks Jim!
Always great to watch your videos, Rick. And learn more about vintage baseball cards.
Thanks for the kind words. Always fun talking cards
I never noticed the background before. That is so cool. Thanks for sharing
Crazy! never thought to research the players in the background. Topps trying to pull a fast one
I did not know this, Rick. I still need to add a bunch of these to my 1969 set, I still have to go with 1958 then 1960 as my favorites but these are in my top 5.
I agree the 1958 and 1960 cards are sweet. As a kid, I always favored collecting the all-star cards
Great video and info, Rick! I too love those 69 all star cards but never paid close attention to the background...just always assumed they were of the featured player. I'll never look at those cards quite the same. LOL.
lol I agree!

Many of the photos were used before on Topps cards. I guess they were lazy not to match the player with the background
Thanks for the great information on the 69 All Stars Rick. I didn't know this and am also a big fan of those All Stars.
Thanks for the education and beautiful card showing, thx for sharing with us!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It means a lot. Hope you have a great weekend
Thanks for the info, very interesting indeed!
Crazy after all these years I find out the truth of the 1969 cards. Hope you have a great weekend
Wow, that’s so cool! Gotta get a Flood card now! Thanks!
I was thinking of you when I showed that card.
Wish that curt flood card came with his wife in the background, L😅L. She was gorgeous. I was 11 years old in 69 and had the whole set, along with 66, 67, 68, 70, 71. Im 66 now and still collect. Just subbed you, and thanks for sharing, bro.
I picked up the Rose / Mantle after seeing this video. Thanks for the education!
@@Valuevintagecards-Aaron nice!
I just read that article the other day. I guess it was easier and cheaper for Topps to alter photos that they had already used instead of finding and paying for action photos of the actual players.
I agree! But come on Topps! lol

Those Ruth always put a smile on my face when I look at them. Hope you have a great weekend Darrin
The Ruth cards are cool. I never noticed the backgrounds didn’t match. That’s something new I just learned. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment
Loved this video. I've never bothered to look at the back of my 69 all stars. I'm going to do that tonight. Thanks for sharing!
Always learning. I’m glad somebody did the research. Even 50 years ago Topps was trying to pull a fast one on the kids
Great cards. I never thought about the players in the background. New sub. I know, took me long enough.
I need the Pete for my Mantle PC!
You sure do!

Great cards! Topps put one over on the collector
Well that's interesting! I never paid attention. 😮
Very cool Rick! I had no idea!
Love that insight! I had no idea that some or most of these had different players in the background. Great stuff, Rick!
Thanks! Crazy after all these years you find out the truth.
Hi Rick. Those are awesome Ruth cards. Great story on those Sporting News All Star Cards. That Gehrig photo is pretty nice. Talk soon pal.
I just had to show those Ruth’s one more time. Lol Darn Topps tricked me on the 69 all-star cards.
New sub. New to ripping. This video was interesting. Thanks for sharing
Awesome Rick !! I have always loved these and now I find out I have another Mickey Mantle in my collection 🤯😜🤙🤙
Lol
Thanks for showing the Babes again! That is crazy about the all star background pictures. I never knew that
It is crazy! Thanks for watching Joe
I had no idea Rick. Thanks for pointing those guys out in the background.
I had no idea either. always learning
Those Ruth cards are just so incredible and crazy stuff about the mismatched photos on the all star cards. Take care Rick 👊🏻⚾️
It is crazy after all these years finding out about the those 69 allstar cards
Nice Sporting News All Star cards....two Gibsons; you only need one, send me the other one! Nice action photos in the background. Those Ruths 🔥

I am about 75% finished with the 1969 Topps set (Have most of the sporting news cards) I actually just did a video on the set 2 days ago
The 1969 cards were the first set I remember collecting. My mom would find the cards at garage sales. It was a fun set to build.
Great info Rick! Taking the boys for a drive to the bank.
I dont believe the American Caramel company went bankrupt in 1928. They simply moved manufacturing facilities out of York Pa
I was never aware of this until now…. I think I like my 69 all stars cards more than ever 😂
Haha, never knew about the 69T AS cards after all these years. One of my favorite sets which i have. So, are they considered error cards?? Great video.
Yep they are like this always thought it was a daily news paper report extra bang for the buck
GodIsGreat sent me here!
Pick runs seamed to put time limits on what cards made it with stock pictures

I read an article on those backgrounds a while back. Very interesting.
