    For me the best sound that I get from this mic is in USB and when it is set to Standard (Deep and Mid). After recording in that mode all I do is give it a slight 3dB Treble boost in Post and it sounds very nice. I have been in contact with the team at Maono and they are in the process of upgrading their Maono Link PreAmp software by adding more EQ fine tuning options which the software needs badly. All in all its a really nice mic and I do like how it also behaves in XLR mode and I think if I purchase an EQ software plugin I can make that mic sound amazing on the front end so I do not have to do any shaping "afterword". This mic is a keeper and has such potential. My workhorse for my XLR and Podcast is the EV RE20 but I wanted the PD400X for my USB option and the Maono PD400X Delivers! When that USB PreAmp Software gets the update this thing will be even better!

    XLR definitely sounds better, but USB-C sounds very usable and tolerable, more so than Shure's MV7's USB input.

    • @se7enap777
      @se7enap777 Год назад +2

      this is due to the interface's preamp and added warmth when used as XLR🥳

    HOLY CRAP THE XLR SOUNDS LIKE A SM7B I can definitely hear the sound being waaaaaaaay better. USB C sounds like SM7B with a thick filter on top that muffles the voice a little.

  • @sparketech
    @sparketech Год назад +5

    XLR is more bold. With the Shure MV7 the USB is wayyyy worse and it clips way too easy on that more expensive mic.

      very late response but once your voice reaches above the shown volume amount, it will compress your voice to keep you from sounding too quiet or too loud, essentially keeping you at the same volume level depending on your whispers and shouts

      Did you see my latest video of the K688 guessing you did, I did a little test comparing them side by side. The sound to be is nicer on the Maono and the build quality is a lot better plus it has a desk stand. Both are good just depends on your budget.

    Xlr has a hiss

    • @ToddDolce
      @ToddDolce Год назад +1

      If you get a hiss, it can be attributed to the USB cable still being connected while the XLR cable is hooked up. Remove the USB cable and the hiss will vanish. If it remains then it is something that needs to be attended to with Maono.

    • @MattRobb
