More than any other family sitcom I can think of, the actors here all truly looked like they could have been related. Not just in that “tv” way where it works fine but they don’t truly resemble each other when you look closely. You could pick almost any combination of two actors here and they look enough alike that they seem believable as relatives. As a group they looked very natural as a family.
Alan Thicke was such an amazing, genuinely funny actor. IMO opinion one of the all time greats. They still had the one little girl and Leo's character, but it just wasn't the same, so I get why it ended. Still if I'd had it my way the show would have gone on indefinitely.

A classic song for a classic long lost era of sitcom television! RIP Alan Thicke! We miss you dearly! 🙏 😁❤
just them mentioning the scene when the drunk driving incident occurs makes me tear up. Her reaction and acting in that scene was really remarkable. It hit us all hard.
I remember watching this show when I was little in 1990s in China. It is one of the two US shows on TV there. Jeremy is right. The show was huge in China. But I never heard anything about his cooking show. I hope it went well.
I wanted to point out that I think this show was so successful is because back in the 1980's more and more divorce was taking place and myself included was raised by a single adult and I think more and more homes became this way and to Growing Pains was a dream to have two parents and a normal upbringing. The attraction was the family bond that us kids during that time yearned for. Not that I didn't have love growing up but it was a way to see and feel the experience that I could not have.

Roger Hendrix Honestly I always found her to be a little annoying. It's such a cliche for family sitcoms to decide to add a surprise baby. Family Ties did it, so did Step by Step. I actually think a lot of the time it's unnecessary. Also how in one season the kid will be in diapers then all of a sudden he or she is 5 years old.

@@jedijones Yeah funny, seems as if they never had one storyline involving anyone that lived next to them, no one at all, kind of strange for a sitcom from the 80s.
they said that she wasn't in the first season and at the time of the interview, they were promoting the first season of Growing Pains being released on DVD.
This particular show was celebrating the release of the Season 1 DVD way before Chrissy came onto the show. Plus, as with most shows, the main cast is primarily remembered and Chrissy was a later addition to the cast at the tail end of the show.
I loved Alan Thicke and I know first hand although a really long road if his doctors knew what they were doing and they didn’t and I’m sure they killed him! My husband had a very severe aortic dissection which is what Alan had and they let his burst! My husbands EMT immediately knew sent his bp as low as they could and brought in their heart doctor who only does dissections all day long and I remember he came in ER at a run and said get him on ice now! It’s go time! He told me we are behind the eight ball but I’m very good and I know what I’m doing! I know Jesus and he knows me! It was a very long ordeal I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. My husband was on life support six months and Jesus healed him. He’s one of the less than ten percent that live.
Wasn’t born yet but enjoy the show. Mr. Cameron seems a bit off, I don’t think the cast likes him may be wrong though. Also Larry king is very annoying he keeps cutting them off and he was a bit rude to Mr. Cameron
The rest of the cast (and crew. And writers. And producers. And basically everyone involved) were a bit pissed off when he Found Jesus and became a massive diva.
They were promoting the Growing Pains season 1 DVD which came out in 2006, and which Larry brings up at 06:56 in the video. Ashley doesn't show up until season 6 and the season 6 DVD wasn't even released until 2015. But for all the other interviews without her it's probably the producers who schedule the appearances to blame for not thinking of her. Or she may have been busy because outside of Leonardo, she's the most active in her career. I don't think it's the Growing Pains showrunners because remember, she was in both Growing Pains reunion movies, and the last one came out in 2004, just 2 years before this Larry King appearance.
Larry King telling Kirk Cameron that he is very religious. You can feel the tension in the room when Kirk Cameron started talking about heaven and hell.. it got pretty silent and uncomfortable in that interview. Larry King hates Cristian people. You can see it when Larry Interviewed Pastor John McArthur from Grace to You.
He wasn’t telling him, he was asking him. “You’re very religious, right?” There was tension but I don’t think it had anything to do with Larry King other than it’s his show and the topic came up, and it had to because there was no way to avoid it. These stories were already public knowledge. The tension mostly comes from the fact that things didn’t go well between Kirk and the rest of the cast when he got heavily into his belief system and brought it to the set and developed an attitude over the scripts and such, and he probably got more personal too. By his own admission he was a pain in the ass about it. You heard Joanna, she was being very gracious and tactful about a 17 year old thinking they’re always right. Sounds like Kirk was immature and got overzealous did a lot of lecturing to them and that could get annoying really fast. Then he alienated himself from them and didn’t invite any of them to his wedding and they were hurt. His wife was on the show as well so that was doubly weird. That’s where the tension was from, as it’s being discussed openly on live national television, but they do all seem to have worked through it mostly. Larry could be frustrating in his interviews sometimes the way he talks over people and sounds a bit cold but that’s with everyone about almost anything. There’s no real sign of him being specifically and blatantly disrespectful about Kirk’s beliefs here.
The entire cast looked absolutely stunning, especially Tracey Gold. I miss this show a lot. Rest in peace, Alan Thicke.
I couldn’t imagine growing up without Growing Pains and Family Ties

They are all very close. Kirk apologized to the cast many years later during the reunion movie and they are all close now.
Joanna was my Hs crush
Joanna, I bet you anything your daughter Ashley is as pretty as you are.
The cast was great, but Larry King always sounds like he's reading from a teleprompter.
Once again in these interviews they forget Crissy Seaver played by Ashley Johnson. They must not like her or something.
Kirk not religious really?
Larry King is sickening.
Sorry no reading c.c. Bue
