- I was really scared when the pilot made these low landing curves. What a great flight and the pilot made a perfect landing. I´m just not used to make turns onle 10 m above the ground.
A huge thanks to the pilot and HPH Sailplanes for this amazing flight!

Should I fly more vintage gliders?
Yes!
trying to make cross contry fight with it would be interesting
You should! A private owner at Gilze Rijen NL has a beautiful Grunau Baby
yes 500 km in K6
Yes
Really need to strong balls to fly like this one. Old men were extremely brave for sure.
We where young then. Brave spelt with an S. :-)
How did they find the hot ascendant currents back then?
@Benghali In Platforms only birds?
@Benghali In Platforms you feel them with your bum. And long flights were rare back then.
Hearing the bip sound in the background? Despite being old in conception it appears they put some modern instruments in that glider. This bip comes from a variometer that tells you when you climb ;)
@@MisteurCraft I know the instrumets of nowadays. I mean the ways of knowing that back on 1930s XD
@@Charly_5V oh well now I feel kind of stupid xD

Hi Stefan. Just make you sure. This glider wasn't built in HpH company but by Jiří Leník from aeroklub Raná. But still you lucky man who get chance to fly with this beauty 😁👍
Now instead of cleaning bugs out of your wings, you'll clean bugs out of your teeth xD. Brilliant work on the construction...
Hahaa xD Therefor the glider has a windshield. Thank you!
@@SteFly from afar it looks pretty small I have to admit ;). What sort of gliding ratio does it have ?
Late turn on final
I would have been nervous too. That approach was way too "interesting".... Traffic patterns were invented for a reason.
Without airbrakes this might be a normal approach but I didn't expect this 😅
Reminded me a bit of how you'd land a paraglider. Although the proper way is to go high into downwind, base, then do figure of eights (or "S") until you're ready to commit to final/land.
Lol and then suddenly I hear Czech...
5:24 love how that semi-worried look turns into a smile :D great video!
RIP ears 17/09/2020
Sorry Harald :D
Reminds me of the Sedberghs and Kirby cadets I flew as a cadet in the ATC doing the BGA A&B 50 years ago. I was astounded to see a Sedbergh still flying recently. I've never been in a modern glider and imagine it's a bit different.
Flying a modern glider is also very joyful 👌
I soloed a T31 in 1974 at 16 - now I fly a Discus. I’d love to fly a T31 again.
I thought the same, brought back memories of Old Sarum, unfortunately after going solo I joined the Army and couldn't carry on gliding.
Wonderful! I thought at first you were going to get a tow from one of the biplanes!
now that would have been cool!
And i thought the Bergfalke II is old lmao
Coincidence. "Flying Simon" published video of a flight with a 1943 vintage Kranich a few days ago. What a fun experience.
Great videos!
Great flight. Today we had a visitor on our field coming for 3 instruction flights who mentioned your channel! I wouldn't be surprised to hear that more often in the coming years.
Great, thank you! ✌
What is the glide ratio? Can you use thermals?
Sehr gutes Video 👍🏼
Wo hat der Flug denn stattgefunden?
Vielen Dank!
Beim nächsten Mal weiß ich was mich erwartet 😅
Imagine flying the Schulgleiter or besenstiel , aka " broomstick " open air glider, just a chair with wings!
Not only a glider but "une œuvre d'art". Thanks for sharing again your Amazing life.👍👍👍
Merci beaucoup! :)
That landing was super sketchy.
Wow! That approach and non-circuit had me shouting "I have control"
Oh, I am sorry ,but I couldn't watch the rest. The noise from the wind was just ear piercing!
Well, wings mounted high up, so as long as you have speed of course, you can turn low, without ground looping.
But.. yeah I wouldn't do it :-)
Was definately interesting to see!
As Woody said "That's not flying, it's just falling with style", but still fun ;-)
Nice Vintage Glider, I had see 'em in my club too, different approach Technique
Now make that an ultralightweight engines so you can take off at your own
Great!
@ruclips.net/video/9l7jYU0uERE/видео.html according to the legend, if you grip the stick too tight, the knob will turn blue
I started gliding in a Slingsby T21b, fairly similar to this, but side-by-side seats instead of tandem. Open top gliding was a joy.
Love these open top flight 👌
- This "thing" has no performance, but I imagine it to be beautiful and "crazy" to fly so "openly". A bit like riding a scooter or a motorcycle ... (linke in the old days, without helmet)
Very good excellent i enjoyed !!
Thank you!
Awesome video! I feel like we're both feeling the vintage 'tick' ;)
It's fun to fly these old gliders!
Thank you 🤙🏼
It seems so strange to see an open cockpit, but this plane goes back to when it was still common. I wonder what the wings are covered with in order to be so taught.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_fabric_covering
Now that was an interesting landing pattern. I've never seen one like. You should give it a name.
Hauptsache Dimona Schlepp!
Flieg mal bitte Grunau Baby Cabrio
Awesome Video!
Thanks Tom!
Really wonderful craftsmanship in that glider. If you ever do competitions at EGHL (Lasham) take a look at their glider museum, they have some really interesting airworthy craft there................................
What are the wings made of? Is that canvas? I know absolutely nothing about flying or gliding but I’m really curious about that vehicle construction.
The guy in the back seat picked out the mic.
G, day Stefan from Sydney, Australia.
* fantastic plywood historical glider.
* I can see why, as a minimum, an aircraft must have an altimeter and airspeed indicator.
🌏🇭🇲
I learned to fly in the UK design off a winch 1000ft. Three minutes each flight five if the thermals where strong. Wearing the leather helmet was a mistake as its the best way to judge side slip, no wool to guide you? Air brakes are on the side look to the right when using them best air brake fun you can ever have. Penetration into the wind is important and saved my neck flying glass knowing you have to get the nose down when low heading into the wind, in order to reach the field.
Was watching this glider last two weeks in vintage gliders meet in Celje and it is so beutifull plane... i was lucky to take one winch lunch wity Slingsby two seater and open cockpit rally gives a pilot a smile on his face :)
I enjoy watching every vidéos you make, gliding is awesome
Thank you! 🤙🏼
Fantastic video Stefan! what a beautiful old Glider! I love it do more of this!
Thank you!
What a beautiful old glider. I once got to fly a Gurnau Baby when I was in England back in the 80s. It was pure joy to expereience how things were done years ago. Thank you for showing this.
Those early days the love for aviation was wroth the risk of your life. Today we know what they felt first time looking down at the ground like a bird. I'm not a pilot but even in a glider they don't make base to final turn right above the ground .
I just started watching your videos and all are very beautiful. Would love to try one day if I'll get chance in my life. Keep flying high and stay safe.
I wish I could have been up there with you in that vintage glider, there's just something wonderful about vintage aircraft.
Would have been a better video if we got to see the actual approach and touchdown, instead keeping the camera on your face.
Yeah. It's all about you.
❤❤❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Flew my first solo in a glider just like that. A T31
Wunderschönes Flugzeug 😮
War wirklich super gebaut :)
soo beautiful
Wow, that circuit was..let's say, unconventional!
nice plane
Sonst tolles video
I so glad to see a classic glider! Finally and long overdue. I actually really thing old fashioned gliders just look better
They look different. I like modern technology but from time to time flying older glider is a lot of fun.
Next time dampen the wind noise please it's nearly unbearable lol
Like si vienes de updt
Great footage! It would have been nice to use one of these Tiger Moths to tow it!
Wonderful
Hello
Hi
der Oldtimer hat keine Bremsklappen?
cool
glider is sedy vlk
this is czech legend glide
An awesome vintage plane! What´s the name of the plane? I have never seen it before, even at the big vintage glider meeting some years ago in Norther Germany.
Its was at the vintage glider meet at stendal 2018, i was lucky enough to fly it. Its a replica goppingen go1
Was the aircraft equipped with an audio vario or was that a hang glider style clip on one? Beautiful plane, our club has an SG-38 in our hangar that I'd love to see restored and flying again.
It was a hang glider style clip on vario. I flew a SG-38 with 15 years, was great fun!
Nice video! What beautiful aircraft!
Imagine how 12 yo or even younger boys back then in the 30s learned flying on similar aircrafts. Crazy
Imagine a 12-17 years old flying this thing today :D
Beautiful machine! I would love to fly it.
It couldn't be better! #thumbsup
yeah beautiful , I like it .
RIP to my ears ...
😍😍😁😁 It is my Dreams 😍😍😁😁😁
Just beautiful!
You looked so happy!
Beautiful aircraft !
lovely!
Was ist bei der Landeeinteilung schief gelaufen?
👍👍👍
What type of glider is that, if I may ask?
Replica goppingen go1
Einfach nur nice
Whats the glide ratio of a glider like that?
Similar design T31, "The best glide ratio of a T31 is barely 18:1, and this is achieved at only 37 knots"
Érico Schmitt something around the level of a badly streamlined brick. I used to glide a few years ago, and had the opportunity to try out a few interesting vintage machines, and, being used to flying a discus or an ASW something, I have to say I found them all a handful. Gliding is now a beautiful dream to me, but the really vintage jobs were more of a nightmare!
moc pěkný =)
Some solution very similar to Rubik 11b, and it some sense it looks like Rubik 11b. What is that?
Yes. It looks like a squared-off Cimbora. Loved the craftmanship put into it.
