I know I'm super late to this party, but just found a good used copy of the base to jump in. I've played Altar Quest and Brook City, so lots of similarities for mechanics. Excited to play, and as always, thanks for your great videos for following along to learn. Much appreciated!
@@OneStopCoopShop which of their games do you guys consider the best also including hour of need? i read they are most likely the same and are more or lesser dumped down / missed opportunities here and there and some say street masters is the best?!
@xXN0cturnXx for me it would be Street masters or Hour of Need. Hour of Need is a little cleaner a design, but SM has the most excitement and tension. Altar Quest has the most interesting card play and tactics, but is also kind of bloated and imbalanced. We didn’t enjoy Brook city much, unfortunately
This is a fun game. Love how each of the fighters feels and plays differently. Gameplay is on the lighter side but there are lots of decisions to make with the opportunity to combo cards. Has nice depth to the game. Looking forward to seeing what else comes out next month.
Great 1st round! Glad to see a playthrough of this one. Played alot of streets of rage as a kid, but didn't pull the trigger to get this because I wasn't sure if I will like it.
Guocai Pan I’m right with you, so this game is right in my wheelhouse. Played Double Dragon, Streets of Rage, Final Fight, and watched every dumb martial arts movie I could get my hand on.
Thanks for picking up for Colin! This game looks cool. I am excited for the rest of the play through. I am curious if the price of $109 Kickstarter bundle that is for sale is worth it.
ShadowXao The base game already has a ton of stuff in it, but the bundle is a good deal. Between the Kickstarter extras and Oni expansion you get two extra enemy/boss groups, 6 extra stages, and 3 extra fighters with decks. But there is a new Kickstarter coming in October, so there will be more to get.
Interesting that you are covering this game. I owned a copy of this. Enjoyed it much, although you must set the expectations that this is a less-brainy tactical combat board-game, but not down to the CMON level. Good for family enjoyment too.
Rodinov Claw I’ve been having a ton of fun with it, and usually have at least a few really excellent tactical moments per game. Can’t wait to teach it to my son when he’s a bit older!
Nice video!! Just one mistake I think in your exemple: you already play an action on card with your main fighter, Kyoryu, his attack. You cannot play another action during this turn on card but you play the exhaust ability of the tactical card Ora.
I THINK that’s the errata in the new version. Brady Sadler mentioned it, but that was months ago. We will see for sure in a few weeks when Aftershock delivers!!! 😱
@@OneStopCoopShop annnnnndddd......now I've found the updated rulebook on BGG 🙄. Glad I watched this. I would've been under defended in all my fights! Thanks for the great video!
Rodrigo, I’d love to help you, but I didn’t get your second sentence. The “sad”? Allies and Rivals are optional cards you can include in a stage to make the game harder or easier.
@@OneStopCoopShop , hi there. Sorry, my cellphone changed auto correct :) I watched again your video and found the card. BOSS. I couln´t find it here! Now I can play it again! Love your videos!
Joel Martinez honestly, you are best off waiting a month or two. The Aftershock KS should be delivering then, including the second edition of the game. Second edition will have better balanced cards, some upgrades elements, etc. And I think Asmodee is doing US distribution, so it should be easy to find a copy for a good price.
So I found the one and only copy at my local game shop today 100 bucks. And then a new fear kicked in as the shop had no idea if any of the add ons or expansions were coming 😰😰😰
Something bothers me about this review. This is a 27 minute video and you only touched the hero mini once. You explained very well, don’t get me wrong, but how long does one game last with one player and do you spend more time reading cards than rolling dice? I’m really interested in this game but I’m not sure.
Sergio Hernandez Castro this is the setup and teaching video. I’d recommend watching part 2 or 3 if you want to really get a feeling for the pact of the game. When playing with a single hero, I tend to finish my plays in about 30-40 minutes.
One of my favorite games. This hits the table every few weeks.
writerguy911 Agreed!
Awesome overview! Excited to see part 2! :D Thanks again for taking the time to check this one out!!!!
Brady Sadler Thanks for designing a fun game!

@@OneStopCoopShopok cool thanks for the info
Coming back to watch again in preparation for the digital beta. Interesting to see how much Mike's technique has evolved since this early episode.
Yeah, it’s funny watching the old plays and reviews.
Like what!? This game had 3 parts!? And now I do COIN games and SpaceCorp in an hour ;)

David M Couldn’t have said it better myself!
This actually seems pretty fun! Glad to see content on this channel continuing. Thanks!
B. C. Eckhoff It was a very different recording experience from the reviews, but it was still fun to do.
Excellent video 🏆👏 very clear and concise, with your visuals and speaking. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! We have some new SM videos coming soon, using Aftershock content.
Amazing video. An essential watch for any new player! Thanks for doing this - now to watch part two!
Thank you, and hope you enjoy the rest!
@@OneStopCoopShop I sure did! Fantastic play through :D
So far so good Mike. Good presentation
Jonathan Williams If I can reach like 75% of Colin’s awesome level, I’m satisfied!
Great job, Mike! Colin gets a well deserved break, but the OSCS goodness continues.
joxer96 Aw, thank you so much!
Seems straightforward, and with relatively easy variable rules for different scenarios.
David Ko One or two scenarios in the base game are definitely more complex (it comes with 8), but I’ve never had major issues figuring them out.
One Stop Co-op Shop Hopefully they are different enough, but also in keeping with the theme.

Exhaust abilities can be used freely during your turn. They don’t require an action. Same with Feint abilities, where you discard the tactic card.
@@OneStopCoopShop thank you for this info!
Enjoyed the video, but had one question. Shouldn't the Cull the Weak have been in the Enemy Play Area, not the Stage Area?
You're absolutely right, and that definitely has important effects on the order things would have happened.
I don't see anywhere on RUclips or BGG that says "gain one random defense token" is erata and should actually be two. Is that accurate?
I THINK that’s the errata in the new version. Brady Sadler mentioned it, but that was months ago. We will see for sure in a few weeks when Aftershock delivers!!! 😱
