First I'll give an overview of what Pursuit is and why I love it to bits. Then I'll bring you to the table and explain exactly what goes on in each and every expansion giving my HONEST review of how good or bad the individual expansion element is.

Perfectly timed video. I just got the base game based on your enthusiasm and thoughts about it. Played once solo and hoping to play with the family this weekend. So knowing where to go next (if we have as much fun as I think we will) is going to be very helpful. Thanks Luke!

I just did a late pledge for this - I'd been on the fence a bit but this looks right up my alley. I love worker placement and if the theme is right my group will play with me (and my daughter) and definitely my daughter will love this. The explanations really helped me decide on the Big Box. Still I have to have this. I've been listening to your praises for a while, so this is a must have now :) Nah, not really. I've eyed this since the first kickstarter, and seen great reviews on BGG also.
28:40 rules snafu. I just started playing this game again so rules are fresh in my mind, my understanding of the rules is that for stand-alone jobs, you only have the option to work harderx2 right after you take the card, then during each upkeep you have the different option to pay the additional upkeep of 'work harder' x2 to get the upkeep reward.
Thanks so much for the thorough review. Am trying to convince myself NOT to spend the money, but it's tough! This game is very enticing. I think the late pledge manager closes on 10/31.

@@TheBrokenMeeple I was actually impressed how they packed it but because I went for the all in Kickstarter it’s going to be a lot of work putting so many of the cards in their sleeves… the play mat is the star of the show… in my opinion okay mat is 100% needed I can’t wait for you to get your version and see your review
Well, I was a late backer via Hive, and unfortunately the game didn't make it's Dec 2021 release date.
Looking at 4-6 more months minimum.
Doubt I'll back them again, but still looking forward to playing this. Love games that think of the solo players too.
Yeah they aren't the best on KS, but the game is so worth it!

38:25 I can’t find anything in the consolidated rulebook that says you can promote from a Security & Safety job to a different job?
Was in the normal rulebook for that expansion I think - not sure what the new consolidated one says or whether they changed it.
Thanks Luke. Did you find that adding the expansions just made game baggier/unnecessarily longer? Found the game just right with 6 actions but 7/8 it... dragged.
It does make the game longer hence I would unlikely play it with 4 players with expansions but I can deal with 3.
I got my big box with everything, but couldn´t find the Thug life expansion on it, they have the ks promo 4, but didn´t saw any cards show in here in that one. Any idea?

Luke, my man, thanks to you I am backing this KS. Now, my question is, I am buying the Big Box but not the all-in. Which expansion should I get? I selected the Thug Life, but considering best to get the Community or Experience expansion... First time playing it and in Mexico (which means, getting anything like this is most likely impossible).
Hi Enrique, please be aware that the big box tier doesn't contain the base game, just the box and the nostalgia expansion (plus anything unlocked in this ks campaign) and you need to order the all-in tier to get the game itself. Apologies if I've misunderstood your comment.
@@jamescrennie You saved me... I was not aware at all. I do not even own the base game, so the box would certainly be useless for me. I will try to contact them to cancel said order and then just order the base game using their retail store, although I am not sure, theirs is the worst service I have ever seen... THANKS A LOT, MAN
Like the series but how they handled this last Kickstarter makes me hesitant to back this latest expansion
I never received the Community expansion so my "all-in" pledge was more like an 80% pledge. They also sent me the wrong size sleeves, so yeah, I'm pretty skeptical as well.
I haven't had this issue before, all I can say is speak again to Artipia or raise your concerns in their new one.
@@TheBrokenMeeple I have emailed them several times but I'm largely ignored. They stated they would send the correct sleeves (which they never did) and that the Community expansion was "in the mail" although they had promised tracking they did not ship anything with tracking so no one knew when/where anything was being delivered. I have commented on the new campaign but I expect to be ignored there as well. It's a shame really because I do love the game but my desire to play it has been severely hampered by their total disregard for doing what is right and just. I have major reservations giving them any more money unfortunately.
What i dont understand is i have now the thug life Expansion. And like in your Video there cards like the corrupt polician with no number in the top right corner l1,l2... And the money numbers are not identic. Is it a printmistake i have more job cards like this?
Does the card say "work harder"

@@tfg301 right those ones don't have levels, you take the job and then you can work harder as an action. They don't upgrade to other jobs

@@tfg301 the one on right if you work harder. There should be separate rules for single jobs
It there a game mechanic where you could end up getting arrested/going to prison due to life of crime?

You mentioned never play five player. How does the game play it two player?
My personal opinion: my fiance and I play it all the time and it's just as great with 2 player. You see less cards (we have all expansions as well, so this isn't saying much lol) but there's way less nervousness about a card you want being taken away... but with the experiences expansion that's not that big of an issue anyway
Plays great at two. 1-3 players is definitely the preferred range.
Does it ever happen to you there isnt enough money for everyone? This happens often in our 4/5 player games.
Is that one of the reasons you wouldnt recommend 4-5 players?
Never had that issue in the 4P games so far and I just refuse to play 5P because the time length of the game and downtime reaches insane levels at that point.
Is money a finite resource or can you use counters? Just act like the federal reserve and print money til a loaf of bread costs a hundred bucks.

I got it on a major sale recently ! It looks fun but I would never have gotten it because I find the artwork so bad!
I got the base game played it solo, 2p and 4p.
Rules are terrible
games take forever
game choices are so innocent/good. Life choices which were more shady would improve the last argument. At least take that evil expansion.
Games only take forever with expansions and 4P, otherwise I chalk it down to player AP. Solo and two player they are quick games.
Also rules terrible? I've had no major issue learning them.

Maybe they have improved, but the base rules were absolute garbage, rule tidbits all over the place. No definitions, no index, bad font.
At one time I was fed up and compiled a QRC and posted it on bgg. I believe it's still there.
I'm not sure it's due to AP, the first ages up to adulthood went very quickly but once mature the rounds took for-e-ver. It was overall very tiring.
As a personal minor ocd gripe, I don't like double-sided cards where you have to draw the bottom card off a stack. Plus the fact that it felt like a jumble of stuff thrown together.
It might be your fav game, there are plenty to choose from nowadays.

The more I watch this the more question I have I can't imagine two people in different house holds would learn to play this game identically I'm sure everyone has some form of rule different.
Why? Just play by the rules as deigned.
@@pimentoloaf1509 you clearly haven't played monopoly or even black jack with other people. Everyone has their own crazy rules and no matter how much you read instruction they are always those that take something different from it, Even when you watch these pursuit video and I've watched all of them on RUclips some are unsure or are like I think thats how it goes with many people sending comments telling them thats not right and there doing something wrong. These people are trying to play with the designed rules but it never turns out like that in the end. Some people get taught these games so it's not black and white as you make it out to be mate... Popular games like monopoly have had people make up rules so much that when the PC/playstation version came out they allowed people to have option to add the rules in the game. If only we lived in this imaginary world of your where people read rules like robots and everyone understands it... There be no crime and we would live happily in this fantasy dream reality you have your head concocted in your head.
@@venomgold This is a HOBBYIST board game, brother. People who play designer games get rules clarification by speaking to the designer on forums, sometimes companies put out FAQ and things. This is not Monopoly or black jack. Yes, sometimes house rules are made up, but typically when large swaths of the community agree that things are unbalanced. When someone pays this mich for a game, every effort is made to play it the way it was intended, not spice things up by putting a ton of cash on free parking because the game sucks otherwise.
@@pimentoloaf1509 and yet here we are with people uploading video on pursuit of happiness getting it wrong. Yes I mention black jack and monopoly but I also mention pursuit of happiness too.. You can't say this isn't pursuit of happiness too lol. People are human I don't know where you are finding these magically elves that are playing it how its intended without making mistakes. Then there the matter of even now they have adjusted the rules. All I'm saying is things are not as clear cut as you think. Monopoly and black jack are even more easy to understand and people get it wrong how do you think people are going to manage with this complex game that has people uploading video then days later apologizing for doing something wrong in the game so far every video has got someone doin one thing wrong or the other. And what with so much rules and some vague explanation that had to be later on adjusted its got nothing to do with how much someone spent if your interpretation of the rules is different from others then outcome will be different. Unlike you I'm speaking from experience. I might goto someone house who has the 2016 version which has different rules you can't purchase multiple items in cards that version. Not everyone purchasing the game will know their multiple rules. Unless now your gonna tell me if they spend that much they must learn all the rules old and new. It's the forgetting why different version have updated rules that lead to future problems. Then stubborn people like you might want to keep playing the old rule. Your be like "I didn't spend blah blah in 2016 for you to tell me I'm playing it wrong"
