This is running on my Samsung Galaxy S21+, running Android 12. This would not be possible without the RSDKv5 and Sonic Mania decompilation projects!

You have absolutely no idea how happy I am that this is finally out. We can access the programming from the inside and now we can port this game to practically everything. Plus, since we have access to the source code, I expect this fandom to accomplish incredible things with it. I have done it exactly as you said, but i keep getting a black screen with audio, however it kicked me out of the app after hearing the title screen theme.
I dont know wether its because my phone's old, or if its because its an early build and there may be some issues with older phones that do not have a strong snapdragon processor.
That could be a wrong Data.rsdk as well. Where did you get yours?

...I mean that, because you have *NO IDEA* what version you're getting when randomly downloading one off the internet, or if the rsdk is even real and not tampered with

Its just me that after flying battery (i think that's how you say it) act 1 cutscene the level doesn't start and the controls dissapears?
You could just use debug menu from the top left corner by tapping it and press reset.

Yes, it's just zooming in the screen for the game until it's just the game on the screen

I am using it with touch controls, however they are invisible. I have not tested controller, but also have no reason to doubt it works

Do you mean blackscreen with audio, or just a blackscreen? Blackscreen with no audio means you likely don't have your Data.rsdk in the right location
I got black screen with audio (+ crashes when i touch the screen) but i have Data.rsdk in the right place (RSDK/V5 folder). I don't know what i did wrong.

I don't think you need root anyways
Check one of my other replies; root is not needed for Mania on Android to work. My S21 isn't rooted

You'll need a copy of Sonic Mania for PC, version v1.06.0503. Other versions may work, haven't tested.
1. Grab the Android.rar from the RSDKv5 Repo's "releases" page
2. Extract it to your storage. You should have a .apk file, and a mods folder
3. Make a new folder at the root of your *primary* storage (/sdcard) called "RSDK", and within that, a folder called "V5"
4. Place the mods folder, as well as your Data.rsdk from your *legally obtained* Sonic Mania copy into the "V5" folder
5. Install the .apk file, and launch the new "RSDKV5" app, then close it.
6. Edit "Settings.ini", and right below "language=0", add "devMenu=y". Save and close the file, and launch the game again
7. Tap the upper left corner, and you should see the Retro Engine Dev Menu.
8. Tap on the upper and lower left sides of your screen to navigate this menu, and go into "Mods". Tap the lower right side to enter the menu, and enable "Mania Touch Controls" as well as "Ultrawide Mania" if your phone is an ultrawide. Tap the lower right to enable each option
9. Tap the upper right to leave this menu, navigate to "Resume", and tap the lower right again. This will reload the game.
10. Navigate the menus with the touchscreen, and enjoy.
Some caveats:
- The touchscreen controls are invisible. If you've played Sonic 1/2/CD on Android, the default positions from that game apply here.
- Navigating the menus is a little iffy, and can crash the game entirely.
- Other crashes may be present in the game, although it seems generally pretty stable
- The Plus DLC is not available in the pre-built APK file. Someone may have fixed this already, but I don't know.
Overall, it may be better to wait until some more polished builds come out, but if you want to give this awesome project a try already, this should get you started.

@@acwbit2368 actually you can do the entire process on your phone, you just need some gigs of storage and a relatively strong phone to install it (although i think you can only pirate it, steam doesn't work on exagear)

they would have to recode the whole rsdk android app, and somehow make a rsdk file into a obb file that it can read
