This is true. Our food is garbage. It's amazing all the people around me who struggle with issues that can be fixed with not eating shit and sleeping better.
@@Filthy_Rich_556 The definition of good food is problematic. Fructose, no matter how defined, is always a toxin but the abundance fruit has been artificially selected or manipulated to yield fructose that the fiber content can no longer buffer. All grain products of the world, especially in North America, are hybridized and promote insulin resistance no matter what type of grain product it is. This monologue really remind me of Rentons at the start of trainspotting. Outstanding. He is correct in every way. I allow myself 1800 calories a day, i track it using MFP. If i run or ride and burn 600kcal, then I see that as a target, to eat another 600 in chocolate or crips before bed because im allowed now ive ridden. Its fucking nonsense but thats what i do lol.
Probably this is indicative of some degree of neurosis inherent in calorie counting. I know you're joking, but it's all just weird and obsessive. When I needed to lose some pounds, I mainly ramped up cycling and cut back on rice. Before I lost two stone I ceased any restricting on food, then kept losing more pounds anyway! Now I eat more fats to keep on weight.
@derekjolly3680 nonsense, I'm not massively overweight but when I want to get rid of the extra little i occasionally put on I do it with the help of a calorie tacking app. When I see what in eating in black and white it helps me track what ls good and bad and triggers something inside me that helps ne stick to it. I hate bicycle riding... But you want to know what I hate even more??? My bicycle screaming at me all night long from the garage calling me an F'n loser because I didn't take it out riding that day. The only way to shut it up is to take it riding. I've left it out in the rain, still calls me an F'n loser. I've left it outside all night long in well below freezing temperatures... Still calls me horrible names all night long. So, to keep it quiet so I can get a good nights sleep... I just take it riding. I rode everyday for 1,905 consecutive days with an average ride over those days at 24.6 miles a day. So, if you want to get fit... Just stop with all the drugs and stuff and get a bicycle that will scream nasty words at you all night long.
I've got 2-5 down. I've actually reduced my alcohol intake down to a drink about once a week because it harms my revovery after a ride. I just need to really work harder on adding better food to my diet.
I stopped the road and mtb. Now I'm indoor riding 6 days per week for an hour each day. Big time saver and no broken bones or idiot car drivers. What do you think vs 4 days outdoor riding and 2 days running 5k's? I love the no excuse predictable indoor aspect. 54 years old.

Best damn video ever. If I was a pro cyclist I would have someone massage me for an hour after every ride. I ride 5x a week, which includes commuting to work by bike 3x, riding 165 miles per week. I am always fatigued, worst feeling is on Mondays after riding Sat and Sunday 100 miles.
I switched to an electric scooter and all the physical problems I had related to cycling disappeared. I think the standing position is more natural for the body. The only aches and pain I get are from standing in one position for a long time, but it's better the the shoulder wrist and ass pains.
I've been doing triathlons for 32 years. The 50s have been hitting hard. I literally just finished a run and ate some pizza. I feel called out. Time for change! 🤣

What Cycling Does To Your Body: 2 broken collarbones Broken Radius 2 broken fingers Many broken ribs Constant scrapes and bruises Twisted swollen ankle All separate times, not all at once 🤣 Still can't get enough.
What the fuck is this all about , I’m 72 and cycled all my life , still doing 2k miles a year and followed my own eating and drinking habits without any ill effects . Can’t say I’ve missed your recommendations on what to give up.
How should I do it? I'm a guy in his late 20's with bad knees (cartilage grinding over bone) 6'3" 235 somewhat muscular build. I do eat lots of meat but not to many veggies and not too much processed foods except dark chocolate and dark chocolate covered nuts. I love coffee with heavy cream and sometimes flavoring. I typically weight lift 2x a week but hate cardio and suck at it. The treadmill makes my knee collect fluid and swell so I was doing the stair machine till my knee hurt again. I like to bike around town to improve my cardio and burn some fat. Thing is I built more like running back (minus the cardio insurance) but most of these bikers are skinny thin guys with amazing stamina. I want to stay somewhat buff while I can but also like to bike more. How do I do both without hurting my body too much. I currently am strapped for cash so I have a free 26" mountain bike I ride on the roads only. It's also hard on my knees and I KNOW it's to small for my tall size but can't drop $500+ on a bike more my size. Can you buy cheap bike pipe extensions that push you back and cheap handlebar extenders that not only go higher but also farther forward than the ~5" stock has? I like to bike in a more upright position but am bent significantly farther forward now to reach my handle bars because my seat is lifted as high as possible.
i break my fast every day with highly processed food , usually it is a steak and kidney pie and a 2 liter soda for the day at work , not cutting out the pie as its a decently large portion of my calorie intake but the soda has taken the backseat as of this week , got a filter jug to filter the tap water (its drinkable without filtering but the filter does make it better) , there was a time where i had too little fat , do NOT reccomend it , now my diet is quite fatty and it helps me maintain my ideal weight range (68-72kg)as well as suplpementing with creatine actually really helping with cramping on long rides

I’m 63 and the last few years have noticed a marked decline in my abilities. I am worried that I am damaging my body by cycling with too much intensity or long rides at elevated heart rates. For this reason, I will be looking for information on cycling at ages over 50. Just subscribed, thanks.
@@classifiedinformation6353 im 60 and all my rides involve long steep climbs (i live on a volvano) which i ride at quite high intensity so i too wonder if its doing me good or not?
Good idea stay strong and healthy ❤as we age as I know we can not do what we did when 30 or even 40 years of age ! Listen to your body !!
Absolutely brilliant. I say this stuff to everyone that asks for training advice. No one does it though. Im just going to forward this video to every one now.
You’re absolutely right, I have to admit, I am using the workout as an excuse to continue with my bad habits! True
Absolutely brilliant advice and put across in a positive, comedic way, thank you for the uplifting advice!
I love your no nonsense, straight talking advice. More power to you and your Chanel. Recently lost 1stone as could afford carbon wheels. 🤣 Just trying to get fitter so I can go for longer rides and enjoy being out in the countryside on a bike. 👍🏻
Meant couldn't
This is true. Our food is garbage. It's amazing all the people around me who struggle with issues that can be fixed with not eating shit and sleeping better.
@@Filthy_Rich_556
The definition of good food is problematic. Fructose, no matter how defined, is always a toxin but the abundance fruit has been artificially selected or manipulated to yield fructose that the fiber content can no longer buffer. All grain products of the world, especially in North America, are hybridized and promote insulin resistance no matter what type of grain product it is. Once converted to fat/keto fuel you don't need any carbohydrates nor sugars that your liver doesn't already secrete for vital function.
Cycling helped me lose 40lbs
220lb to 180lb
6ft
Beef salt and eggs. 53 and lost 80 pounds in the last year. Been strict on diet from Jan 2024. Can ride 4 to 5 hours no problem no requirements to feed on the ride. Just some salt in my water for electrolytes. Recovery after a ride or run is so much quicker.
I cut salt out, upping my potassium to flush out water bloat, I’m losing a ton of weight and getting a lean face just doing that.
Better watch some fueling videos then. Coach would give you shite for not fueling on a 4 hour ride. It's not what you should do.
@@joerenner8334 I don't do carbs. Look up ketogenic athletes. Dr Anthony Chaffee discusses it in depth on his channel. Its an interesting concept and counter intuitive based on everything we have been taught. But also mind blowing in that you never bonk.
Second this! Started doing the same and couldn’t be happier! Grass fed beef, organic pasture raised eggs, organic bacon and bone broth for drinks 🎉
@@Meritumas I won't go back to the carbs again. Feel so much better and not having any kind of inflammation or pain even after heavy training is awesome. I wish I knew about this 30 years ago.
MAN , you are one of the MOST INSPIRING SPEAKERS I've heard in A LONG , LONG TIME ! I believeve in EVERYTHING YOU SAY and practice ALL OF IT whenever possible . By that I mean I live in the Norteast USA so the weather isn't always GOOD for biking but on the days it's not I get on my elliptical and do my VO2 workout that way 5 days a week . The diet is EASY - I cut out ALL processed foods long ago - they are ALL POISON ! IM 62 years old and most people think I'm 45 and I LOVE IT , LOL ❤❤ 😂 ! I'll be watching FROM NOW ON AND THANKS SO MUCH !
You my friend are absolutely brilliant !! Inspirational !! Just keep doing what you are doing !!
Thank you so much, Sir and bless you!
hahahaha, awesome video... I chuckled at the thermometer comment.
I started cycling for commuting, I live in a very hilly area. I do a few short trips about 5 times a week, and I can tell my fitness is improving each week.
This video just made me suscribe. I bike and live healthy, but still learned new things. Thank you🎉❤
Thank you so much I just found your channel subbed ❤I needed that kick in the rump 😂 taking charge now no more procrastination …😊
Probably the best health video I have seen 😆
Well done, appreciated 👍
Thank you!!!! Saving this video and sending it to some people.
Just over a week into quiting smoking and riding my bike after work.. i hour to get in shape and just enjoy my time outside
No, you don’t need SUGAR in your diet! All glucose what you need is produced by your body! Apart from that great video! Ditching processed food, alcohol and sugar is the way to go! As long as you protect your liver all goes well! Now it’s time for my morning rowing and cycling daily retreat 🙂
Guilty as charged, thank you for the enlightening video, time for a change.
Cyclist in LA who just discovered your channel and love it! Just subscribed!
"Keep smiling, keep spending." Haha, love it.
I didn’t know I’d come across Malcolm Tucker’s new career😂. Lots to digest here. Good info. Subscribed
Great video. Made everything really easy to understand. I’m on it!!👍🏻
Excellent advice but the title of your video is wrong. The title of the video should be “What bad diet does to your body”
65 here, lifelong cyclist, regular runner, and Vegan for almost 33-years.
I still feel like I am in my 20s, except I am more laid-back now; and I am also a blood donor and have made 115 donations so far....
We aren't all you
@@FarOut-n6b Why not do the same thing but replace the junk food with something better like fruit, or at least not quite as bad like some homemade bread or sprouted bread with some cheese?
I used to cycle through the Gorbals in Glasgow 🏴on my way to work, when I was an apprentice It was the best work out on the bike, it was great for speed 🚴🏿♀️ I’m now 79 and still fast
Your so spot on! Of course You know that! Thxs for sharing we are our own worse enemy! I'm back too the grind good sir!
Hey coach. Great advice. Got to love RUclips though, immediately after this video, a Subways advert.!
I’m 26 been road cycling for about 3 years now just in small “social” group rides, I want to get into the sport a lot more hopefully next year I can do Seattle to Portland as I live close to the area
Brilliant 👏 Sir! I researching joining Bulletproof Cycling, currently reading 📚 the book "Training and Racing with a Power Meter". I am trying to find the right Coach-path to become a better cyclist. I cycle almost every day but I am a relatively slow cyclist.
100% agree with you!!!
Cycling made me go from 255 to 185 since 2020!! I love it and never felt better at the age of 45!!😊
was it the cycling or the diet? cos i started cycling quite a few years ago ive gone from 250 to 250 ish. basically just not changed. im stronger n faster and can ride huge distances. i dont eat processed food or drink alcohol very much( once a year). i stopped eating late night breakfast snacks and lost a small amountof weight. but other than that i still feel fat.
Was just told yesterday that my heart is damaged and I will need a pacemaker. The part that really hit me was that I have to be careful for three months after surgery for the body to fully heal around the implant then I can get back to exercising as normal.
speedy recovery do the dieting b4 back to cycling
Great advise for the majority I just need to ride my bike fast everything else just falls into place good habits encourage other good habits😊
I love your videos. I'm allergic to eggs, is there an alternative please
Done cycling, now doing indoor rowing, feel way more tired when I do half an hour on the rower, full body work out, fittest I've ever been at 64yrs old, trouble with cycling is it only does your legs,
You have a new sub here! I’m 43, struggling with responsibilities with family and training to make gains riding MTB! I agree with you 100% on big pharma, it is a huge scam.
6:41 can we have examples of what food contains what? vitamin types are confusing to remember.
Love the videos, i think bookmarks and chapters would help much for us to revisit these tips!
really enjoyed this vid, made me join the 5 day challenge.
This video makes me want to go home and watch trainspotting again Love that movie
I am 50 and got back into riding. Health is wealth
Superb video ,keep up the great work.
I am 50 years old. 6 months ago I was 220 lbs at 5 ft 9 inches. I was obese. I have lost 45 lbs since then. Am I doomed to being out of shape because I was obese for so long?
Good work!
no dude! I know a woman who lost 80 pounds and just rode 50 miles plus i think she is like 56 years old! Never give up! me, I am 60 and just did a century!
Nope, not at all.
But how tall are you now?
@@JessieWiggls 6 foot three.
Thank you
I’m pretty healthy, but lack energy. Thanks for the advice. Never thought about magnesium!
Love it .great video.
Can you please post your experience, or profession 🙏good stuff
I need sweetness in my diet. Am I better off with sugar or equal and sweet and low? Looking for opinions. I need sweet coffee for instance. Thank you.
Top advice again. Im subscribed I think.
This is quite the accent :) I appreciate you.
Great advice.
So few want it bad enough. Great vid.
I switched to an electric scooter and all the physical problems I had related to cycling disappeared. I think the standing position is more natural for the body. The only aches and pain I get are from standing in one position for a long time, but it's better the the shoulder wrist and ass pains.
"Life is filling you up with inflammation all over the place." Yep!
I've been doing triathlons for 32 years. The 50s have been hitting hard. I literally just finished a run and ate some pizza. I feel called out. Time for change! 🤣
I was in until you said no pizza, donuts and bacon… lol! Great video! Very motivating!
Yep cycling pumps up your prostate and bends your spine
You missed one other very important strategy to increase your healthspan..... Resistance training. The older you get, the more important it becomes if you want to slow down muscle wasting, known as sarcopenia.
It's not just the muscles but bones, joints and tendons too. Resistance training is a key factor to increase streght and density of the bones.
What Cycling Does To Your Body:
2 broken collarbones
Broken Radius
2 broken fingers
Many broken ribs
Constant scrapes and bruises
Twisted swollen ankle
All separate times, not all at once 🤣
Still can't get enough.
What the fuck is this all about , I’m 72 and cycled all my life , still doing 2k miles a year and followed my own eating and drinking habits without any ill effects . Can’t say I’ve missed your recommendations on what to give up.
A doctors mantra is a patient cured is a customer lost.
Is your doctor telling you to eat more sweets and start smoking and drinking or what?
not always. some dr. care about health. not the pharma industry though. they just need us to not die prematurely
@@cdofm are you one, those dont take a pils for schyzofrenia ?
Never been treated by a Dr who was not genuinely interested in improving my health.
In the UK most doctors would think less patients is pretty awesome.
Good info !!
i break my fast every day with highly processed food , usually it is a steak and kidney pie and a 2 liter soda for the day at work , not cutting out the pie as its a decently large portion of my calorie intake but the soda has taken the backseat as of this week , got a filter jug to filter the tap water (its drinkable without filtering but the filter does make it better) , there was a time where i had too little fat , do NOT reccomend it , now my diet is quite fatty and it helps me maintain my ideal weight range (68-72kg)as well as suplpementing with creatine actually really helping with cramping on long rides
Types of Foods and their types of ingredients; important to improve human health. I had a Counselor that shared this advice to me; "Don't OVER DO IT". Too much of a good thing is not necessarily a good result.
I'm 67 and want to get into cycling..I'm fairly fit and go to the gym. 5 9 165 lbs.
How to start without getting taken at a bick shop.
Just 1 thing.... You DONT need sugars.... You need healthy fats....
17 years of age. Got a road bike last year around this time which is October. I’ve put 2,200 miles on it before my 10 month mark with just weekend rides. Love cycling to death. Monster legs🤙
Im 54, Ive been in love with riding for nearly 50 years, but have been stagnating/backsliding for the past 5-6 years. I've heard VO2 max before but know nothing of it. With the billions of information on the web, can you point me to a good starting point for VO2 max for a 54 yr old 190lb 5-11 man, thats trying to right his ship?
Im 967 years old and i eat, sleep everyday and im healthy.
bruh i had fatty liver and high bp after 6months of cycling steep hills nonstop everyday my fatty liver resolved and bp 160/90 down to 110/66 in 6 months. even my doctor got mad told him i stopped taking meds but after checking my results he was shocked 😅
This is the real shit right here, pay attention.
Literally every doctor says eat healthier and exercise that's the number one thing they prescribe for every patient they have that's overweight or obese
Very true.
Ohh yeah had a few weeks no road cycling. Still had a few commuter rides ☹️
What about if you have an active job how do you quantify the energy you’ve used working and what you’ve got left with the train?
