another masterful interpretation by Barenboim. this sonata is one of the most underrated pieces in all classical music... it is absolutely geniusly written.
All of his 32 piano sonatas are incredible masterpieces! In my opinion, his piano sonatas, along with his symphonies and string quartets are the greatest works of art ever created!
[WIKIPEDIA]

this prove you can compose marvellous things in F sharp major. But i wonder, why is this tonality the less played in classical music ? if any one has the answer please tell me !
Because the classical movement was about how it differs from the dense and complicated baroque music, it was considered really odd to write in a key with more than three accidentals and Beethoven kinda broke that tradition and became a bridge to the romantic era
Also, the more flats and sharps you have the more difficult it is to perform for string instruments and other non keyboard instruments, so they tend to write everything for strings in g maj or d maj etc etc.. but after my contributions to well temperament people started writing in every key especially on keyboard instruments :D
Before the XIXth and the equal temperament, C major was the most "in tune" tonality on a keyboard instrument (Eb major and F#M being one of the most out of tune)
Perhaps expectation, a little more intense than the similar previus passage, which also precedes the main theme. The contrast it's very significant in this way because, for me, brokes the expectation and make last one too.
Its an even more absurd and more hilarious cadenza than the previous. The silly hand crossing and all of the comedy(by harmonic means) should point to the 2nd movement being mostly humorous
This sonata is one of my favourites!
i could listen to this all daaaaay non stop

Yeah. There is too much good music out there so every written piece doesn't get a chance to shine.

A unusual composition. One of my favorite performances of this piece.
素敵な演奏!
For me, this Sonata is the sister of Sonata No.22.
Yes! Exactly what I thought
Such a joyful and underrated masterpiece.

I was wondering the same. Is this key used in Romanticism, by the way? It is a rare key.

He's like the Beethoven piano version of Anthony Hopkins.
thought I was the only one that thought Barenboim looked like Sir Hopkins 🤣

I hope Beetoven composed 5 million or more sonatas for Barenboim to play.
😂
haha😊
Yeah, that was impossible. But, well, you know.@@lindsaytao6384
No pause or breathing between movements?
On the sheet music Beethoven actually said not to pause between movements on this one
와 손모양 소름돋네....
This Sonata isn't famous because it doesn't have a famous nickname.
actually it is nicknamed "à Thérèse"
It’s more like it doesn’t have a nickname because it’s not famous
I think that it’s more likely due to the face that’s in the key of F#major and no one wants to learn it
give me your hand.
