    When I saw the alliance verson ingame I thought the horde was evil! But after seeing the horde version it makes more sense now.

      King Varian would have made the same choice if he was in the horde position up on the ridge. The legion had out flaked the horde and to have stayed would have made no difference. It was a military decision nothing more both sides lost a respected leader. I know one thing the final boss fight will be at the tomb of Sargaus. maybe the avatar of Sargaus.

      true that

    • @MatthewCollinsPHD
      @MatthewCollinsPHD 8 лет назад +2

      I mean it's funny, but it's not true ;P No one knew about the trap, or the huge army they were to face. The intelligence they had - on both sides - was false, so even if they had been texting each other like besties about Legion and chill, they'd have still got their arses handed to them and we'd still have another expansion.

    • @SWBGTOC
      @SWBGTOC 8 лет назад

      We'd still have a PvE expansion but not the PvP one :p

  • @tenjenk

    MAJOR LEGION QUEST SPOILERS*
    The entire thing was one huge trap. Mathias Shaw, the leader of SI 7, the alliances intelligence and spy division had discovered that Broken Shore was a trap but him and his team were attacked before they could report it and he was replaced by a Dreadlord, who fed the factions false information.
    This is why in the event they were surprised by the fact that the legion were in such large numbers and had such a strong foothold already, they had been told of an invasion force, not an army with an established base already capable of summoning major legion leadership.
    We will deal with him in Legion but not before he causes us more loss and division.
    If Sylvanas hadn't sounded the retreat, we would have all died with the leaders who were present and the war would have been lost right there.

    • @eufori10
      @eufori10 8 лет назад

      Uh, what?
      We all would have died if Sylvanas didn't retreat? Many of the horde would have probably died, yes, but the Alliance got away with their gunship.

    • @tenjenk
      @tenjenk 8 лет назад +12

      They only had time to consider a retreat after the horn blew. IF the horde had stayed and died, the alliance would have been in the thick of battle and the main legion army would have caught them by surprise on the other side.
      There would have been no chance to retreat. Not to mention the legion ships would have moved forward and fired on the gunship.

    • @twilighteternals
      @twilighteternals 8 лет назад

      I dunno, they had a FLYING gunship, couldn't that thing double as a scout and see the situation before it get out of hand?

    • @tenjenk
      @tenjenk 8 лет назад +3

      it could certainly, but it wasn't during the situation. Otherwise they would have seen the situation the horde was in. They were intent on their previous orders, bombardment.
      Would have been too late anyways, the legion spaceships would have moved into position away from the horde and taken out the airship.

    • @MatthewCollinsPHD
      @MatthewCollinsPHD 8 лет назад +4

      Yes, they had a flying gunship that was committed to close fire support during an attack on a small army fighting on one front. The Horde were there to provide high ground flanking cover, so the airship had no need to be anywhere but down near the field. No one - not a single living person in the Alliance or Horde army - knew that they were being led into a trap. It's unfortunate, but it happens all the time in warfare ;P

      DrClawizdead I have no disrespect for the Horde but comparing their two deaths. Varian went down like a Warrior King, saving the lives of his men and preserving the Alliance. Voljin just took longer to die.

    • @DrClawizdead
      @DrClawizdead 8 лет назад +17

      Vol'jin not handling his own is the direct reason Varian had to sacrifice himself.
      Vol'jin did not die with honor on the battle field; he died a coward's death on his throne.

    Such moving stories on both ends. Varian, sacrificing himself for the Alliance's safety, fighting until his last breath. He was the king everyone could look up to, but this feat proved to be his last. Such a fitting end to a great warrior. Vol'jin, the Warchief who died too young, his rein was far from started. He had such promise, such a vision for the Horde, and it was all taken away before it began. Now these new leaders much prove themselves while fighting off the Legion to save the whole of Azeroth. The wise, noble prince must prove his youth and innocence are not what defines him, so he can live up to his father's legacy of leading the Alliance with valor. The determined, powerful banshee queen must put aside her brash and traitorous ways to earn the trust of the Horde as their Warchief. World of Warcraft is heading into an amazing new territory, and I cannot wait to see how this story plays out.

    • @MrElionor
      @MrElionor 8 лет назад

      It's important to remember Varian sacrificing himself was only necessary because Sylvanas cared more about her people then the Alliance's

    • @dreamingflurry2729
      @dreamingflurry2729 8 лет назад +1

      Wouldn't you? I mean I am all for the Alliance (and I kind of think that the Orcs should return home and stop trying to take over Alliance territory - while the High-Elfs should make peace with the Alliance (I mean they are only on the Horde's side because of ONE STUPID/RACIST LEADER who condemned Kael'thas Sunstrider for working with the Naga, despite following the guys orders...but Kael'thas has since betrayed his people, so why stay with the Horde (I mean most High-/Blood-Elfs think that the other races in the Horde are savages and they are kind of right, compare Ogrimar to Stormwind for example - one's a sprawling city and the other looks like a damned slum!)?)...but I kind of would defend myself first, too before thinking of anybody else (especially if that sacrifice doesn't even guarantee victory!)
      ps: I still understand why the Alliance thinks it was betrayed (hell, the Horde would be done for if Jaina hadn't stopped the King during the Undercity Raid after the Horde betrayed the Alliance when they attacked the Wrath Gate in Wrath of the Lich King....)

    • @MrElionor
      @MrElionor 8 лет назад

      DreamingFlurry
      This isn't about what I or anybody else would do this is about what the right thing to do is real warriors do not fear death they fear dying a cowards death the overarching theme of the expansions since cataclysm really has been uniting to face a threat neither side can defeat alone stand together or fall alone what Sylvanas did set us back in this when the time came she chose momentary safety of the Horde at the price of Alliance lives she widened the gap between the Alliance and Horde also the Alliance was betrayed Sylvanases selfishness doesn't negate that

    Watching the fight from the Alliance side, I had two possible thoughts...
    1) Sylvannas was always playing Wrynn, and took the opportunity to have him killed.
    2) Something else happened entirely, ie: the retreat horn.
    I didn't even know the Horde story was happening simultaneously, so instantly went to go find the vid. I think Vol'Jin didn't quite get the death he deserved versus Wrynn...but it's about time they brought the Banshee Queen front and center...almost wanna roll my first Horde toon in over 10+ years just cause of how quietly badass she is...

      Sylvanas NEVER gave a shit about the Horde. The only reason she joined was to protect the Forsaken and now she's Warchief? She won't survive the expansion and you can take that to the bank.

      Sylvanas places her people first, and by extension her allies as well. For all her shady dealings, she's very practical-minded as well. I have no doubt she'll do fine as Warchief. The Loa spirits chose her after all, if what Vol'jin said is any indicator.

      I've played the Broken shore with both sides, Alliance where fighting a bunch of trash mobs when Gul'dan and the ingame raid bosses taunt them and sit back by the tomb.
      Horde Side, you fight hundred of trash AND Named mobs at the same time ! And with more and more coming. Not by little waves like alliance.
      It is obvious all of that was a trap by Gul'dan, lead the armys to the tomb, taunt them let them believe that they have a chance to win and them crush them with the full force of the legion by the side.
      Horde where fighting the real army of the Legion, so alliance fanboys : please PLAY both side before talking shit.

    Wow that was well done. As an alliance player, it seemed like sylvanas tricked the alliance into dying, meaning the alliance npcs will want to fight the horde but on the horde side they just retreated to survive so that the alliance being angry seems unjustified. A clever way to get the factions angry at each other.

    Varian: Jumps off a fucking gunship, one shots a godzilla-sized mech by ramming his sword THROUGH ITS FACE, tanks an army of demons, gets cut and stabbed and shit, and spits in the face of Death itself in utter defiance.

Dropping the heart of an old god to corrupt everything isn't fearless, it's desperation for absolutely nothing gained.

    Sylvanas did it how she has always done it. So be it if the world sees her as a betrayer, a witch. So be it if they never know the truth. But she will do what she must to ensure the survival of her people.
    Varian died a death of a true Warrior-King. In combat. He made an example to all beholders that no life is too noble to sacrifice if it means protecting the people.
    In the end, both are heroes in their own way. And such is an elaborate story Warcraft series has been waiting for since Wrath of the Lich King. The epicness is finally coming back.

Although, I don't blame her as if she hadn't abandoned the Alliance the Horde leaders would have been overrun and killed.

    • @crazyscotsman9327

      True but there should have been communication. (It was poorly written why they didn't have that going.)

    • @Wrathinside
      @Wrathinside 8 лет назад +3

      I'm pretty sure Anduin has already evolved past the teenager mentality, even if Varian has not. Shouldn't be that hard to figure that what happened to the Alliance - happened to the Horde, seeing as how a swarm of demons appeared where a few archers were. If anyone is going to think "betrayal yadda yadda", then this might as well go as retarded as Lothar in Warcraft movie.
      What communication can be there? It's a war. It's not Hobbit, where main characters just casually chat in the middle of the huge fight.There was a retreat horn, that's that.
      It shouldn't mean to Alliance that "WTF, HORDE IS ABANDONING US", it should mean that "shit is fucked up, time to skedaddle".

    • @Wrathinside
      @Wrathinside 8 лет назад +3

      If they keep changing warchiefs without giving them any chance - that'll be the killer of WoW. Sylvanas can do stuff, but if they write her as a purely vengeful bitch who will think Alliance is the reason Vol'jin died etc, while Anduin will have no voice whatsoever among the Alliance - damn, I think Divergent would have better writing.
      For all intents and purposes, Alliance has got a Thrall - Anduin. He has a chance to make Alliance better than some mindless bigoted americans. Sylvanas, on the other hand, has experience of leading people in their darkest hour, and she was shown to have feelings in the recent expansions, feelings that are not as mundane as the whore Jaina or the hypocrite Tyrande.
      It might finally lead to something better than all the bullshit of the past expansions.

    Now this is the world of Warcraft I remember! The one where it wasn't afraid to throw us a curveball and take everybody by surprise with what happens. It is a shame that Vol'jin only had a little bit of time in the spotlight, but then so did Uther and Grom in Warcraft 3. I don't feel like Sylvannas will be a great leader of the horde, but that's probably intentional for what they have in store in the next patch.

      I think the entire point is that most don't think she'll be a great leader of the Horde, so she almost definitely will be a great leader of the Horde. That's how Blizzard role. You want a road-map for her character, just look at Sarah Kerrigan. This is Sylvanas' big redemption storyline; she's almost certainly going to die, but she'll do it in style and the Horde will be better off for it.

      I don't think they'll kill her off - I think they are going to show that she's finally ready to really be a leader (letting go if her hatred and making good decisions!), I mean Voljin basically says so! He would have chosen someone else if the spirits hadn't told him to select her!

    • @donjezza10
      @donjezza10 8 лет назад

      The thing about WoW is the story has to take a back seat to the gameplay, while the Warcraft games were the other way around. If they kept following the story though the Warcraft games, they would've probably killed her off in WotLK.

    I think they did a grave mistake in killing of vol'jin... i mean varian i
    can understand! he has a lot of lore and a lot of character development
    behind him (and it opens upp for Anduin to become the total badass that he is supposed to turn into) but vol'jin? he just became warchief! he has nearly no
    charcter development outside of the books (and even there its sparse)
    and he has done nearly nothing ingame.
    Vol'jin is my favorite character
    by far, but i have no attachment too him!!! there are no cinematics!! no
    ingame things where we see him be badass as fuck!!
    I feel like they killed him of far too early and just soo it would be fair for both the alliance and the horde. That both sides should lose a leader.
    I mean garrosh had a more indept character than vol'jin, when Garrosh died it feelt ok, it feelt like he played his part and there was alot of feels and discusion that could be had.
    And who is going to take upp the mantle as the leader for the darkspear? the trolls literary dont have a another character that can take upp the mantle as chieftan for the darkspears!!! Vol'jin was the only noteworthy character the Trolls have...
    Vol'jin should have been warcheif for much longer than he was, the lore needed it!! after all the stuff with Garrosh and thrall we needed a stable, cool warchief that they could build new lore of!
    But instead we get sylvanas, a character that i will never be able too see as warchief.
    Dont get me wrong! I like sylvanas character and i love how badass and cool she is, but she is not a warchief! she is the lone wolf of the horde, if it was stretching it with putting a troll on The warchief throne! then it is a travesty for a undead too claim it...
    PS sorry about the rant! I just had to went somewhere :D

      Ky van Rae I have. Anduin is not a warrior. He is a leader yes. But he is not the type of leader they need right now. Right now both the Alliance and the Horde require war leaders. Men and women who understand war and are strong enough to lead men into battle. Anduin has a different type of strength, he is a healer, a peace maker. He is who the Alliance needed right before the Cataclysm and after Mists of Pandaria when they needed to put old hatreds aside. But right now they need a warrior who can lead his people to victory.

    varian went down like a fuckin boss and although i used to really hate him back in wotlk, he is honorable and he is a big dicked bastard. the horde cinematic is makin me tear up... really points to the idea that the horde needs to band together and although the races are all so different, they have been there for each other through this whole damn game and they need each other. i think sylvannas even realized it right there too... she is notorious for not trusting the horde and really only using them as an end to her means but you can tell now she has embraced the horde for what it is. a group of misfits who don't fit in with this honorable and shiny "alliance". FOR THE HORDE!!!

    I just finished reading the book Tomb of Sargaras, that was a prequel in this expansion. In it Gul'dan was agonizing that he can't can't conquer Azeroth and couldn't win in the past, because they [aliance, horde, heroes] are fighting together. One for all kind of stuff. So I wonder if it's a trap set by him, to set conflict between the horde and alliance again,,,,

    Still, Baine would be a better Warchief with Sylvannas and Lor Themar as Advisors.
    Baine and Andiun would be a unstopable Team vs any challenge that may divide both sides.
    On Second Thought: maybe the Loa wanted Sylvannas to become a responsible Warchief "by force" (in which Garrosh failed) so she would not betray a Warchief Baine or Warchief Lor Themar.

      that may be the idea for not giving it to him its WARcraft not Peacecraft by making sylvanas the Warcheif now the Alliance members who are hardline anti horde will see this as a justification to try to kill the horde again and the new warchief facing Distrust from both sides will have to balance holding the horde together balancing enemies with Burning legion and allaince as you know the advisors for the alliance have been becoming more and more evil (in my opinion go horde or go home) meanwhile we have a boy king with advisors taking advantage of his loss and making an interesting mirror to pre Burning crusade when Onyxia was his advisor but maybe im overthinking it and its to virtue signal that hey horde is totally progressive and pandering.

    • @SSJThead
      @SSJThead 8 лет назад +1

      I was just refering from a story standpoint the fact that Anduin is still a Teenager and an all knowing badass makes him an interesting story point can he trust his fathers advisors all the while greiving his fathers death because even as an adult the death of a parent isnt something you just shake off and focus on what needs to be done, so Auduin being manipulated by those who have spent his entire life around totally something that could be a thing, and just because some of his advisors are good doesnt dismiss that some will try to take advantage

    • @Berek71182
      @Berek71182 8 лет назад

      I think i finally got the Idea why Baine was not elected two times in a row:
      Both Thrall and the Loa pointed someone else as warchief, to aussure a rather happy life for Baine.
      As a responsible Warchief you life always in worry for your people and Fear of Assasine (from both factions) -> Source: Thral in the book "Rise of the Horde"
      Both Cairne and Baine have been Chieftains since young, and beiing responsible for more than just their own people might rop of their fullfilled Tauren Life. Despite the fact that Thrall still feels responsible for Cairne death and dont want Baine to live the stressful and even more dangerous Life of the Warchief.
      And I agree with other people guess that the Loa choose Sysvannas to indirectly prevent her from betraying the horde. With Baine or even Lor' Themar as Warchief, Sylvannas might become (Magatha+Puthress)^2.

    Even after seeing the cinematic from the hordes view. Still can't help but be mad at Sylvanas. Her actions killed two leaders and made the horde look like weak cowards. Even Vol'jin admits he's never trusted her and for good reason.
    I have a feeling her actions will have far reaching consequences. (For one thing this is the second time the horde has crossed Jana. And last time she had to be talked out of sending a title wave to wipe out orgrimmar.)
    And now that she's been named warchief knowing that she's capable and willing to use the lich plague. This feels like a setup to make her a big bad.

    • @violetblues1768
      @violetblues1768 8 лет назад +15

      First, Sylvanas didn't cause Vol'jin to die. Secondly, Vol'jin told Sylvanas that the horde can't die this day, which implies the horde should retreat at that moment. Not to mention most horde leaders are injured. Third, the horde and the alliance are never friends. They even start a ship battle while striking the ice crown citadel.
      Of course, we won't expect Sylvanas becoming a peacemaker. But blaming all the faults on her is not fair.

    • @Dragonking1984
      @Dragonking1984 8 лет назад +1

      Fongching Wu It is when you consider how hypocritical she is. She of all people using the same plague that created her people when waging war against greymane. Something she claimed she would never do. Much like when the events at wrath gate happened she was given the benefit of the doubt. But what if she just allowed us to "help" just to save face?
      Despite her intentions her actions and choices make big ripples not just for the horde but for everyone. Like i said even Vol'jin said he's never trusted her. Even her and the forsaken even being part of the horde is out of convenience. In truth i doubt she even cares about any of the horde. It's all to further her goals.

    • @Dragonking1984
      @Dragonking1984 8 лет назад

      AtomicMonkeybutt You're joking right? Jaina Proudmoor. Once leader of Theramore and current leader of Dalaran. As for the tidal wave. after Garrosh nuked Theramore with a mana bomb Jania was going to harness the focusing irus and use it to call up a LOT of water elementals to make a tidal wave and wipe out orgrimar. She was talked out of it by Thrall and Kalecgos. (thrall tried to use his shaman powers to stop her but she was overpowering him then Kalecgos came and both of them combined prevented her from doing it)
      TLDR: read world of warcraft: War crimes for the details.

      An there is Another thing. Make this situation sensitive. After defeat defeat of Garrosh Wrynn an Voljin Made a peace pact, Now both leader gone... Undead Slyvannas is the leader of the horde, and Greymane see she just left abandoned the alliance in middle of the battle, why Wrynn died. He didin't see the Horde forces already overruned.
      Give a take Now the Boy is the King. he want keep the peace. But im not sure Jania forgive what happend in past... Intresting time... Middle in a catastrophic war against Gul'dan.

      Doesn't work, hellfire blocks the light. You can't heal or resurrect someone killed or wounded by felfire, the horde cinematic shows that much. Vol'jin told her that the healers said it would kill him and there wasn't anything they could do about it. Sylvannas would have offered to turn him but she knew it wouldn't work because of the fel corruption.
