DIY sand bath for gerbils

Our gerbils converted their old sand bath into a nest, so we decided to build another sand bath. Then they would have a least one sand bath as well as one nest - at least that´s the plan.
Außerdem we wanted to combine the sand bath with another maze.
The measurements are: Length 30cm, height 20cm, width 15cm, height sand bath 13 cm, length sand bath 12 cm, thickness acrylic 4 mm, thickness plywood 1cm.

Hi LightningTurtle, I´ve put the measurements in the video description. If I was to build it again, I would make the sandbath probably slightly bigger, e. g. height 16cm and length 18-20cm. I works the small way, but my impression is, a little big bigger would have been better.

What do you use as nesting material for them?

The fact is, that the gerbils choose there nesting material from the bedding themselves. Our bedding consists of 80% hempbedding, 20% hay and straw. Sometimes a little bit towel paper. They drag what they need in their nest by themselves.
