Growing up back then as a teenager and hearing this type of music just shaped my mind and attitude. This particular song with its chord structure and vocal harmony had such a deep and dark melody to it. That made me feel that it was a part of my life at that time. When I hear this song now it isn't like other songs from the past. It is hard too describe I guess just haunting.
Absolutely! I couldn't have described how this song makes me feel. It's set apart! By far my favourite piece of art Aerosmith has in their collection. I love your comment, it solved words I grappled with when I tried to explain how a song creates a nostalgic feeling. Only a few nights ago I was having trouble explaining my love for a song, and how it is so much more than the song itself, there is much more, a place a person, and most impactful is the person I was at the time, biologically our brain changes every few years, biologically and the things that fill the years between then and now. Those old feelings are never gone, and it is music that congers the person we still are, what a blessing it is. Music is so much more than lyrics and musical instruments. I will use just one of the many things music is, a good psychiatrist! The song the other night I was attempting to describe was Riannon “Rock on Ancient Queen…. When you feel as if all is lost in this termoutiolus world, remember what C.S.N sang, “She is all that I have left and Music is her name!!”
This is hands down my favorite and best Aerosmith song. EVER!!!!! Man listening to it just now flooded my with so so many mixed emotions from the past. My body got hot and shivered at the same time. Whew!!!! Awesome song.
This song is one of the greatest gifts of my life. Was a teenager when this came out, spent many hours listening to this, with black lights and a spanish galleon poster on my wall. Get your wings, Toys and Rocks are in the sound track of my life! This song is my life, today.
I'm guessing you grew up somewhere in the northeast u.s. ? I grew up in NJ and had the black light posters , the spanish galleon and the fishing net hanging from the ceiling.
He also plays piano & harmonica and wrote this song on a guitar that Joey found in a dumpster and gave to Steven. It was missing a string or two and was in a weird tuning that to this day Steven cannot remember. When he wrote the song he was in his basement looking out the window on a dull winter day and he was high on 2 types of pills which could explain not remembering the tuning. Luckily the song can be played in standard tuning which is the way i learned it.
I'll never forget my first Aerosmith concert. It was back in 1980, I was just 15yrs old and my dad "a narcotics Detective" played for a driver to take myself and 2 of my best friends to The Cape Cod Collisium. What a great show! You see, we lived in the South Shor, Massachusetts. Just 2 towns over where they resided. My sister and I would ride our bikes to Marshfield to Brad's house, just to try to get a glimpse of the guys hanging out. Lol LOVE Aerosmith!!!
So your dad's a drug man. How interesting. What flipped me out was that youre only 6 years younger than me. That's WHY I connect so good with you and your musical icons.....AND Clapton is the best . In my humble opinion, he was only 2nd to the great Jimi Hendrix.
I'm reading Tylers book right now and he mentions this song in the first chapter so I had to hear it..what a facinating man he is..I've loved him since I was 14 or so and I'm 52 now..it's the longest love affair of my life. .at 68 he's still the sexiest man alive in my opinion and has gotten better with age..his Kennedy Center tribute to Paul McCartney will always be one of my all time favorite performances..
several times but the first time was when I was 14 years old. I'm 55. Believe it or not it was 1974 in Honalulu Hawaii at the HIC arena and they were THE WARM UP BAND! For The Guess Who. By the time The Guess Who came out some people were leaving because Aerosmith the the house down. They had just put out get your wings and a lot of people either didn't know who they were or just heard of them. I had just bought get your wings as a suggestion from a friend. Still own the album today. Also saw them at the Cow palace in San Fransisco CA. Twice and the Oakland coliseum Ca, home of the Raiders. And in Reno NV. One of the greats for sure!
Ah, to me, Seasons of Wither, is a hypnotic drive into perfectly indulgent musical mystic beauty. One of my very first favorites when I was a young teen in that back end day. the song still haunts me in a great and beautiful way. Maryellen from San Fran.
IMHO, your comment here literally almost borders on the poetic, Miss Mary Ellen of San Fran., do u know that? I'm not kidding. Reading it gave me this surprising, almost physical pleasure response*, like one gets when smelling a really cool flower.🌹🙊 *(no, not a boner, sheesh!),
I have always thought Stephen Tyler never got the recognition he deserved. Put aside the drug issues, he has one of the most distinctive voices of rock, an energetic (not to mention sexy) entertainer. Of course that's just my opinion.
Steven Tyler has gotten 100x the recognition he deserves. The man is a legend with an amazing set of pipes, and believe me, this is something that has not gone unnoticed by tens of millions of people.
+Angel Deville Hi Angel... Not trying to be a troll but, I think that he has received the recognition he has earned/deserved. I am only disagreeing with your "he has gotten 100X". Everything else you wrote.. amazing pipes, millions of fans.... plus he wrote many of their tunes with Perry. He has deserved all of the cred due him, I don't think that he has gained cred that was not earned... Peace Angel.. :-)
mike mostad I was saying the same thing that you just said, however I just didn't elaborate to the extent that you did. To clarify, there was no negative connotation behind what I said. I have seen people state that Steven Tyler is underrated, and for those who know their music, he is anything but. That is where my "100x" comment stemmed from, in defense of his well earned and deserved legacy, meaning that Steven Tyler is 100x the legend. It was just a matter of context, a misunderstanding. I'm from Boston, so believe me, I'm fiercely hardcore and diehard hard loyal to Aerosmith.
Agreed. His musical sensibilities are uncanny. The Making of Pump you can see his genius at work, directing the rehearsals and track recordings, tweaking on the fly. ruclips.net/video/etsCXcKCPNU/видео.html
wow, haven't heard this one in a few dog years, great version. tyler is probably america's best front man, dudes got more talent than he knows what to do with.
I love the acoustic sound from my favourite band! Acoustic guitars instead of electric by Brad and Joe and Steven's peaceful voice is amazing to listen to!
This live unplugged version is very well done. I've read some negative comments concerning tuning etc. Sounds very good to me. I've seen many bands live and they all take some liberty with their material. If you don't appreciate the arrangement, oh well. Keep on jamming Aerosmith.
someone else made a comment on how they like this song and their response was" it gives them chills & goosebumps up their spine and over their entire body !" i could'nt have said it better cause thats what it does to me ! aerosmith.....hats off to you guys. you knocked it out of the park on, seasons of wither. BRAVO, BRAVO !
It's not easy, when you don't read music, that Lil 1 fret down, tween picking the chord, does it's haunting sound in it's offset, to bring back, what makes perfect sense, to throw 1 off, even in such a slow melody!
Way different time frame, although I agree Sesons is a FAR BETTER song. I was happy to see Aerosmith make a comeback, but they're later stuff, with maybe one or two exceptions, has never held a candle to the early days.
Still a remarkable performance. I saw a rebroadcast of this on PBS and Tyler mentions his "nervousness" about this performance. He (and the band) had never done anything like this before. The fear was one of the conditions of Soundstage, that the performer(s) must remain seated throughout the show. He was hesitiant, but adapted for the hour show. Later, he commented that it was "fantastic"....God, I would of loved to have seen this performance!
Aerosmith has the sound of realities, homesites, & gentiles of this greatest, grandest & decades of valued artistic musicians kindred spirits, Love Kathy👅🙏🕺💃💥

this was my favorite song from this band, I am from Massachusetts, and he wrote this song related to the cold winters there, I don't miss the cold there
Wow. Just Wow!!!! I got this album get your wings as a teen in mid 80s. Was best song on it, followed by train kept a rolling. ALL songs on it were great. But for some reason I never saw this until today (I am always late to the party) The guitar work on this is just hauntingly beautiful. And Tyler is AMAZING. Beautiful.
It Still Amazes me that They Are Still Together After All These Decades Together And the Turmoil They Have Gone Through as a Group Especially With Addictions Within The Group. And Yes this Is One of My Favorites as well as for Uncle Salty, and Lord of The Thighs too On Vintage Vinyl Records !!!!
holy shit thats the best fuckin version of this song ive ever heard... i grew up with the original and that will always be the best but fuckin holy shit this is a fuckin awsome version of this song..... hands down the fuckin winner.... all six days a week and twice on sunday.... thank you for posting....
fuck, only Joe Perry can pull off a blazing goddamn guitar solo on a twelve string at an unplugged show. What a talent the whole band is, timeless, utter pro's. :)
I accept your cpmments as words of wisdom and didn't mean to offend. Just speakin on music which means so very much to me. it is one of the few drugs that I get for free and makes me feel better. .BTW.....when get your wings came out, seasons of wither was my fave
+gjb16 going to right now gjb, I'm looking 4 a little guitar playing "revving up my own playing motor urge" inspiration at the moment so, perfect timing! I'll let u know what I think afterwards (not that anybody really cares, haha!)
Aaaah "Seasons of Wither" my all-time favorite Aerosmith tune!
It's their favorite too!
Mine too!!! And Scout Finch my absolute favorite character of all time!!!

Second only to AIC's performance of Junkhead at the 92 Singles party 😊
I would have been screaming, whistling my head off once they started a verse. A true Aerosmith fan loves this song!!!

Love the unplugged version of this song as well as the original.
This song is the perfection itself

A team of professionals...
Thank you - I was wondering when I was going to read an actual comment on this song
Absolutely
@@DameonJesseyme too brother. I thought I was the only one fascinated by this song
possibly the best MTV unplugged concert ever.
Unplugged really brought out the best in some truly great musicians.
AIC. But Aerosmith was a close second.
Know Alice in chains
Eric Clapton was the first one to do it and by far the best performance.
One of their best.
I never get tired of listening to this song. Still as new today as the first day i heard it.
The Greatest American Band.
YOUR DAMN RIGHT
Hardly..but I love them
And always will be. Class of 76 check'n in ~ 😀
this song gives me the chills; goosebumps 'cross my skin and shivers up my spine... it's that good
It is that good. Every single time ❤
🤔
THOSE ARE F...KING LYRICS MAN. WOW!

One of the greatest songs ever written
I tell ya theres nothing more beautiful than that of a musician.thank you father for all the gifted souls ..❤

One of those that is in its own class.
One of my favorite Aerosmith songs. Joe and Steven complement each other----Joe's guitar & Steven's voice!!!
slow it down, let it breathe, feel the groove. that is how you play great songs. this is one of the great ones, from any band.

His vocal range kills me!!
It is hard to choose one song, but this is in my top 5 Aerosmith songs!!!! Love it!!!
Part of what makes Steven so cool is that he was a drummer. His timing and phrasing are spot on. He drove Joey crazy in the early days.
Chain Reaction
It doesn't look like Joey on the drums here.

Why they never released this song as a single I will never understand. Way Way better than the sappy I don't want to miss a thing.
Hell yes I SO agree. This is one of their best imo. I didn't even listen to them when they went commercial. Still love their old music.
Pre 1980 is the only Aerosmith. This and One Way Street are their best.
they are probably their best but cmon . they got better with age
They thought it was bad to release singles then.
Way different time frame, although I agree Sesons is a FAR BETTER song. I was happy to see Aerosmith make a comeback, but they're later stuff, with maybe one or two exceptions, has never held a candle to the early days.
They even did that vocal drone in the background of the chorus. Wow
Steven just sounds so amazing singing this, absolutely love it ❤❤❤
Love this song. The Texxas Jam version is probably one of the best live songs I've ever heard.
Amazing rendition without the studio tricks. I always loved this song and to see it live acoustically was great. I forgot how talented they are.
gives me chiiilllls!!
One of my favorite Aerosmith songs of all times. This is a great unplugged version.
The Seasons of Wither starts on November, love that feeling; it makes me happy, sad, nostalgic, You name it.
AEROSMITH FOREVER! LONG LIVE AEROSMITH!
blues hearted lady, sleepy was she
love for the devil brought her to me
tears of a thousand drawn to her sin
seasons of wither holdin' me in
oooh woe is me, I feel so badly for you
oooh woe is me, I feel so sadly for you in time
bound to lose your mind
live on borrowed time
take the wind right out of your sail
fireflies dance in the heat of
hound dogs that bay at the moon
my ship leaves in the midnight
can't say I'll be back too soon
they awaken, far far away
heat of my candle show me the way
tears of a thousand drawn to her sin
seasons of wither holdin' me in
Wonder where he got this
That was excellent!!
love, love Aerosmith :)
One of their best songs. Never gets old.

I grew up in the same area as the boys, I knew them before they became famous, just south of Boston early 1970's, so many amazing songs like this one.
