Plup vs Mango sets are always so fun to watch, it’s usually so close and so back and forth. But Plup has truly ascended his play and is one of the gods of Melee now
Plup is playing like a God right now but he isn't a God. The Gods are Gods because they dominated over years of Melee and won every tournament. This created the legacy which branded them as Gods. Plup has only just began to reach the clutch factor and placements of Gods in 2017 and still has only won one tourney featuring Gods in Dreamhack Atlanta so to call him a God is lowering the bar of legacy by quite a bit. Until he has won a Supermajor (aka Genesis 5) then he won't be a God because he hasn't really broken the God streak. Besides leffen is The Godslayer so why should Plup be a God if he does it anyway? A newer title should be made to show the fact melee is almost past the Gods now!
I've noticed that whenever mango destroys a sheik one game and really feels himself, he usually tries too hard to carry that momentum into the next game and always ends up giving it away. Even if he mixes up his offense hard, he's still just going in and top sheiks only need one mistake to take easy stocks. Happens often against m2k and other sets with plup. Tafo needs to remind him to just take it a little slow anytime he has a dominant game.
Yeah I know he's an aggressive player, I just mean in particular when he has a strong game like a 3 stock, he tends to be overly aggro in the next game. If he just slowed it down a little bit he wouldn't be giving that game away. This exact thing happened at some dreamhack against m2k and other times too.
Lets pretend both of these players have been playing an equal amount of time. If you favor Mango because you think he's better then isn't that bias in some way? The reason why Plup or Mango isn't overwhelming better is because of the design upper limit. Since I play Chess I know what happens if one side starts with tools that are too strong. I wonder how a Plup/Mango double Falco mirror would go? Is there one online?

He always tries to style when he’s on fire. Not just against Sheik. That’s just who he is as a player.
