I don't know the answer about Moving Parts 1 & 2 Folios, but, the layouts in Kathy's Version of this workshop are the same size as the ones in mine. My Display Folder will also fit in the storage box she is designing, so the pieces and parts are mix and match between the two workshops. 💖
I love it! Question will you be releasing the cutting guide and construction video for this layout today? I pre-ordered both yours and Kathy's Moving Part's workshop and she released the cutting guide and construction video for for her first layout yesterday, so wondering if you'll be doing the same.
Thank you for ordering the Moving Parts Workshop! The entire workshop (Kathryn's Version: Instructional Videos, Album Base-ics Guide, etc.) will be uploaded at once/all together before the broadcast on National Scrapbook Day (May 4, 2024). If you're gathering supplies, I've primarily used common crafting supplies and tools to keep it simple. This is a very customizable project, so the supplies will vary person to person. The main thing to consider is that these pages are BIG. If you want to make everything in the workshop, I'd recommend having on hand a pack of chipboard, 4 packs of cardstock and 3-6 packs of patterned paper (3-4 if you're making the pages into one big album and doing them all the same style or 6 if you're doing them each a different style). You'll also need acetate, tyvek, and magnets or velcro depending on which you prefer for closures. If you want to make one display folder and swap pages in and out of it, you should have 100 magnets/velcro dots on hand. Hope that helps and happy crafting! 💖
Is there an easy way for us to mathematically make the spine bigger if we needed to? I love seeing these, but they look pretty full as is without pictures, so I would be afraid once I add my pictures that it would be aliigator mouth. I know people do it, but i just don't know the steps on how they figure out how much more to widen it, etc. Any tips?
Absolutely! The chipboard for my Display Folder is in three pieces internally, so if you widened the center/spine piece that would give you more room to grow. You would need to remember to adjust other corresponding measurements by the same amount, like your patterned paper for the cover, but it's very customizable in that way. Depending on how much you widen it, some other features may not work (it might not fit in the storage box Kathy is including in her version of the workshop and the Page Shift Base may not bring the pages completely flush in the middle), but it's absolutely doable to have a wider spine.
Thanks. I was thinking even like an extra 1/4 inch or something. I know the best thing to do ideally when making them is to put your photos in right away as you go so then you don't have the white mat behind every photo adding more bulk, but I do like to make them up ahead and I do love a border around my pictures, so there lies my problem. Lol.
@andreaschultz8325 I have heard of that too, but I like having the white border around my photos. I have seen too where people just print their photos with a white border to begin with so that way it is just 1 flat layer, but what if you need to crop your photo down from the 4 x 6 that you printed with the border, etc. I almost wish the designs were built with the expectation of having the photo mats plus pictures. Lol. I would rather have too much room than not enough. I might play around with the printing with a border thing and try to crop my pictures down before I print them and have the white border on them that way. Sometimes it us just hard to tell, though. The struggle is real. Lol

I totally get it - i love, love, love a white border on my photos!
@kimharris590 you could use repositionable tape on the white photo mats so you can replace with just your photo. That's what I do and it works great!
