Love these guys! Everyone of them, but Billy Hodges… what can you say about him? He balances Jeff so well, and blends perfectly with Arthur! Phenomenal.
Sadly, none of these Gentlemen are with The Kingdom Heirs anymore. I don't know what happened to Billy Hodges, the Tenor, but I do know that, as of 2022, Arthur Rice, the Lead Singer, retired from The Kingdom Heirs, and is the Music Minister at a Baptist Church in, I think, Virginia. I could be wrong on that, though, but I thought that was what I heard about him. Steve French, the Baritone singer here, sadly went astray from God, and ended up taking his own life, back in June of 2016. Jeff Chapman left The Kingdom Heirs last year, and is now singing Bass for Gold City...and, Man, let me tell you-With the current line-up that Gold City has, this is EASILY THE BEST, that they've sounded in ages!!! Not sure exactly who Gold City's Lead Singer is, but he's the Man for the job! He was a great Lead Singing voice! Chris Jenkins occupies the Tenor spot. Tenors-That's those Guys that can dress like Men, and yet sing real high, like a Woman!😜🤪😜🤪! Daniel Riley occupies the Baritone Spot, and has had that spot for at least 15 or so years. As I mentioned, Ol' Brother Jeff has secured, and occupies, the Bass Singing spot...and ya just gotta know, that he ain't givin' it up for nobody! Jeff Chapman has been singing Bass for over 30+ years, and, The Lord willing, he'll keep on crankin' out those super-low Bass notes!
Chapman isn't only a great bass, he's a great singer. As a soloist, I highly doubt there are any basses in the business currently who could come very close to matching his quality.
At 2:45! That is Jeff's best asset. Besides the lows and cut. He's voice carries allot of head tone projection and sound so good. The only guy that deserves to take the mantle from Tim Riley.
And, come to find out, Jeff Chapman can sing even lower than Tim Riley! Tim can hit a super-low F, but Jeff can go all the way down to an extremely low C! If you compare that note to the Piano Scale, that's only four notes higher than the bottom string of a Piano! I've only heard two other Bass Singers that could either match that. One is Ken Turner, who can hit a super-low C. The other one was, of course, J. D. Sumner, who could go all the way down to at least the bottom of the Piano Scale, which is, I believe, an A O! I've heard one other young Bass Go all the way down to a B O, which is only two notes above the lowest string on a Piano. I wish I could sing anywhere near that low! As it is, though, I'm a Baritone, not a Bass. That's better than what I used to be, which is a High Tenor!
@@ronaldshank7589in terms of lowest note sure Jeff is lower than Tim. But in terms of chest voice Tim has just about all the basses in gospel music beat coming in at Eb1 at the lowest. Anything below G1 and G#1 for Jeff is chest-fry and fry.
...and, just about the time I'd gotten used to Bass Singers like James "The Big Chief" Weatherington (The Statesmen Quartet), J. D. Sumner (The Blackwood Brothers, and The Master's Five), George Younce (The Cathedral Quartet), Tim Riley (The Gold City Quartet, later re-named Gold City), Ray Dean Reese (The Kingsmen Quartet, The Carolina Boys), Ken Turner (The Blackwood Brothers), and Michael T. Holcomb (The Inspirations)....... Along comes Jeff Chapman! This guy can sing some of the most serious Bass, I've ever heard in my life!
First time hearing this song...it took a few times through but then oh my what heavenly joy at the thought inspired. One day our all conquering KING JESUS will appear and we with HIM forever...good morning kindred without ending
+Brandon Lake Agreed. Jeff has to be one of the most underrated in gospel music today. His voice is phenomenal! I really like the Kingdom Heirs version of "Good News From the Graveyard" as well. There are few basses that can match Jeff in terms of resonance and timbre. There are some that can match and even surpass him, but they are few and far between. I will never get tired of listening to his voice.
These four guys are the best. All of them are good. The piano player, the drummer, the string bass have a fantastic combination and they play the best harmony.
So good...so anointed by the Spirit!..."eye hath not seen nor ear heard the things that God hath prepared for those that love Him"...No more troubles and trials..Amen!
Man.....halleluiah.....you just can't turn KH's songs up any louder can you? Great songs all four Troubles and Trials, It's Shouting Time I'm Heaven, I Know I'm Going There, and I'm Winging My Way Back Home. Right up there with Palmetto State, Gold City, Florida Boys, Statler Bros, and Cathedrals
Lyrics Some of these days I'm going home Where no sorrows ever come, (We'll soon be done) We'll soon be done with troubles and trials; (Troubles and trials) Safe from Heartaches, pain and care, We shall all that glory share, (And I'm gonna) Sit down beside my Jesus, (Lord, I'm gonna) Sit down and rest a little while. God bless us! Think good, speak good,do good in your life coz it is your own life/ soul.Everyone of us individually will surrender ourselves to our Heavenly Father...To God be all the glory!
Lucas Pezzatti yeah, is a very old song... and this is my favorite version too! But what I mean is that I'm looking for who has been the first singing this version of this old song, Kingdom Heirs or Greater Vision?? Because this version is excellent, and I want to sing it with my quartet with this playback, of this version... and thanks for your answer :)
Jimmy... I see that you responded to the loss of brother Steve French. Do you have any follow-up information as I also was a big fan (still am) of the Kingdom Heirs and want to know of the healing process of his friends, family, and the group themselves? Norman
If the reports concerning him are true, then his troubles have, theoritically speaking, just begun. I don't like saying that, but he apparently died without God. I'll probably hear some of this "once saved, always saved" drivel from some of our good Baptist people, but Steve French knew that the things he did in the final years of his life were wrong! If he committed suicide, then there's no way to ask God for his forgiveness-ever! Let him that thinketh that he standeth take heed, lest he fall! King Saul started out living for God, but he did something that God never forgave him for. He lied to Samuel, the man of God, twice, and gave excuses for both of those lies! This was concerning the case of the Amalekites in 1 Samuel, the 15th chapter. In the very next chapter, The Bible tells us that The Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil Spirit from God came upon him. That evil Spirit was, of course, a demon spirit. Acts 5-Look what happened there.. Ananias and Sapphire both lied to The Holy Spirit, and God struck them dead for that specific crime against God! The Bible tells of others that were Christians, but that backslid on God to the point that he could no longer deal with them. It is a tragedy what happened to Steve French, but 1:He knew the truth. 2: Unfortunately, he rejected the truth, and look what happened. I'm not going to sugarcoat this. Suicide is a permanent, and unforgivable, sin. I'm nobody's judge, but I must go by the Bible, if I'm going to tell you the truth.
There no scriptural basis for the idea that suicide is a sin which cannot be--or has not already been--forgiven. The "unforgivable sin" is denial of the Holy Spirit.
One thing to sing low, another to sing smooth. Jeff Chapman is a rarity in doing both extremely well
Excellent comment! 👍
Another Bass That can do these things really well is Eric Bennett, the former Bass Singer for The Kingdom Heirs.
Love these guys! Everyone of them, but Billy Hodges… what can you say about him? He balances Jeff so well, and blends perfectly with Arthur! Phenomenal.
Maybe my favorite Kingdom Heirs lineup. At this period they've make impressive quality music.
I'm 75 years old, and never heard a better sounding quartet in my life. Jeff Chapman is great!

My guess is that the angels sing in four-part close harmony.
Try Keith Plott and (Nothing will hold me here) it's a great song and to me has a great quality in himself to!
Rodney Britt, Acapella Vocal Band Amazing Grace.
His mentor Tim Riley could compare and is probably one of the best if not the best bass singers of all time.

Fantastic performance. Jeff Chapman is the best.
I agree, Jeff is my favorite bass singer in southern gospel. His bass comes through better than any other bass group singer.
Well said.

most underated bass singer in southern gospel is this guy Jeff Chapman. I would as soon listen to him as anyone
***** I agree! Jeff is the Best!
***** Jeff is my favorite bass singer ,but i think Tim Riley is the best Bass Alive.

Sometimes I wonder how a Bass Low Note contest Between Jeff and the late Big Chief W. When he has in his prime would go...
I only brought Chief up because he was the first that came to mind. I hope to see him the next time he is in my area.
3:37 - 4:37 The simple fact of being able to hear the 4 tonal spectrums so clearly is what makes this type of music special for me like no other
Loved seeing this group sing and the choir and audience clap their hands to this song
Watched and listened to this presentation 100+ times, still the best ever. Never get tired of it.👍👍👍👍
Some good old style real quartet sangin'.Love this .
I sure long for this day!
These four guys are the best. All of them are good.
The piano player, the drummer, the string bass have a fantastic combination and they play the best harmony.
if this doesn't light your fire your wood is wet. Absolutely amazing. you can feel the spirit on you while watching and listening to this.
... feel the Spirit... this is the most appropriated words to explain the feeling while these guys sing.
Wow 🤩 and great gospel sounds . This is great. So beautiful and great 😊 ideas
Man, I wish I could sing like Jeff Chapman (the bass)!
Chris West of GC has a bigger voice--- naturally. Want to hear an even bigger natural bass singer, look up Eric Holloway- n enjoy true bass singing.
I can sing like him, every morning when I wake up and my vocal cords are shot from snoring all night.
The Rev Clevant Derricks wrote this as well as just a little talk great man and writer with a soft spot for a good bass line
one of my favorite KH songs. I can't wait to be done with troubles and trials.
+kelton Thomas They sung very well this song ,my favorites !!!
This video is truly amazing!!!!
So good...so anointed by the Spirit!..."eye hath not seen nor ear heard the things that God hath prepared for those that love Him"...No more troubles and trials..Amen!
This song wakes me up every Sabbath morning
kelton Thomas n
I love this song. It blesses me every time I listen..Hope you do too..
These guys are the best but I also want to give my compliments to the instrumentals. They are the best players.
my ultimate quartet Jeff Chapman, David Phelps, Jonathan Wilburn and Jimmy fortune singing baritone .
David Phelps used to be able to sing - but now he just screams.
and you can do better? IF what you said was true then Bill Gaither would NOT have him singing for him!!! don't like it then listen to someone else
One day no more trai
What a day no more trials no more troubles thank you Lord Jesus that only You can give us Mercy and Rest for evermore.
Well glory! This is some mighty fine worship to the Lord!
Beautiful presentation. Can't wait until that day.
