    So you do use 90 degree fittings? And concrete d- box? Can't tell you how many concrete d-boxes I've replaced, they rot out after about 25 years, plastic is the only way to go.

    • @DIRT-BOSS
      @DIRT-BOSS  3 года назад +2

      Yes concrete does from the salts in the food for sure.. Yes 90° on the system nothing before the D-Box

    • @mmiller89
      @mmiller89 3 года назад

      They don't let us do any 90's in the whole system, and plastic everything, even the tank. We do septics in ohio. Thanks for the videos, keep them coming!

    Boss man… that could have been a complicated job if you had to play Hide & Seek with the pipes. Most city engineering departments around here are less than helpful… and live outside the expectation of competence!
    Very well shot and explained bud! Clean, safe and on spec from start to finish.
    Thanks for getting this out today… I was hoping I wouldn’t have to watch those overpaid NFL jocks all day long! This was much more interesting.
    Hope u enjoy your Thanksgiving and family.

    That was an entirely excellent job. Good clean work too.
    My neighbor put a septic system in about 10 years ago... he bought an old backhoe and started digging. The lot where the laterals laid was sloped 3ft... he just followed the slope.
    About a year later he had grey water coming out of the ground at the end of each line... they formed a fetid mosquito swamp. Fortunately, it turned off cold and the mosquito problem went away.
    As to the swamp... not so much. The fall and winter rains just made it worse. It grew until it seeped into his pasture. The cattle trail took it to the draw. The draw took it to the roadside ditch. The culvert under the road took it into the neighbors pasture. Across the pasture was the pond where the neighborhood kids swam and fished.
    By the time he got around to having it replaced by a pro... he had paid for two lateral systems, reseeding his and his neighbors pastures and restocking a pond.
    You know Boss, sometimes it pays to ask a pro!
    I’ll exercise my elbow by drinking a couple of extra Rum and Cokes for you this weekend... let me know if that helps!

    • @sassafrasvalley1939
      @sassafrasvalley1939 3 года назад +1

      @@wilsonbobcatservice4151 LOL... only 5 people but he lived on a hill and once he saturated the soil the water soaked back in the ground but the effluent particulate didn’t.
      I told him that instead of making a leach field he had made an efficient wastewater transfer system. The whole idea of the gentle slope is so that the entire pipe has water in it and the water can leak out all the holes. He was only using a couple of feet at the end of the pipe to disperse the water.
      Engineers argue about how steep the slope ought to be but in order for it to work... the entire slope can’t be greater than the inside diameter of the pipe.... or you won’t use all of the leach field.
      And you are correct... I grew up in a farmhouse where the septic system was two 55gal barrels and 100’ of clay tile buried in the yard. We had to auger roots and replace broken tile every couple of years. And, still we had swamp poo-poo at the end of the line most of the time.

    Do you do septic installs in Vermont? Crazy regs here for site specific engineered plans required to even apply for a permit. Hardly any conventional systems get approved ... they seem to be in love with Presby mounds, 1000 gal primary tank, and a 1000 gal pumping station. $$$

    way back in 1976 my dad made us kids dig out the field for a septic system, by hand tools. 6 100 foot runs of clay pipe. I wish we had had access to a mini. These systems are very easy to set up but without power tools they are back braking labour intensive.

    I watched one of your other videos. Do you mind telling me what brand lazer you are using on your digger and if you are satisfied with it. Also a septic tank question? I want to add to my leach field but don't have a lot of space maybe 2 runs of 75ft. Would it help me to add double gravel(say 12" to 16" under the 2 runs of pipe?

    I made angle iron F. That holds pipe to grade and straight then I pit rock in. Easiest way for me to do by myself.

      @@DIRT-BOSS say your pipe running north and south. Then point the angle iron F one to east and next to wear back and forth so when you dump rock pipe doesn't move. Then after rock 2 inches above pipe just turn F 90 degrees and pull straight up. Put one on north and set with laser to bottom of pipe will go then set South one. Set with laser with fall government wants then tie string line north and south then can drive in others to string and have perfect grade. Take string off and put in pipe then rock. I've done this for years even in pool business with gravity drains. Then bed in rock.

      “And the requirements are a little different”....that means more ‘rules’ and more regulation; which just costs more money in the end.

    • @andrewcrosby8746
      @andrewcrosby8746 3 года назад

      @@deplorablelibertarian I dont know about the more money part. The inspector dictates which type of system I install and any little deviation from his plan means replacement at my cost or loss of my license. The profit & loss margin on septic systems is so tight its almost not worth it to do as a business. It's just part of dirt work. There's only so much money that a home owner or contractor will pay and in my area the average is around $4500 which half of that is materials.
