  • The Minnesota Twins called up Brooks Lee on Wednesday to replace the injured Royce Lewis. Despite Lee tallying a pair of hits in his MLB debut, The Twins were blown out by the Tigers. Here's a discussion on the Lee/Lewis transaction, my feelings on how long Royce might be out and some info on the Twins game plus tonight's action across the minor league system.

    Despite Festa’s poor outing I still was impressed with what he had going on. Also very impressed with Lee. Very nice day for the twins and also a big day for Gabriel and Rayne

      I agree, Festa has some good things but does need more time with the saints

    i love the depth of this team, the offense has been doing so well even with our 3 young stars last year (lewis, julien, wallner) struggling. it’s been great to see miranda and larnach bounce back, and hopefully we can see kirilloff do the same

    The Twins depth is real. This FO has created a real next man up organization.

    Royce wants to be out there. We want him out there. But yeah, the Twins can take their time.

    As long as Royce is healthy for the playoffs I guess...
    Until then Brooks is gonna have to step up and take that young star role

    Will royce ever stay healthy ?? This is why I don't get people wanting to extend him he can't stay healthy once again . Until he plays 100 games in a season can't extend him imo . It's sad cause he's elite when healthy

    • @EtaM29
      @EtaM29 3 месяца назад

      Yeah same, I think a 2 year small money extension would be ok to see if he can stay healthy and if he can you get him on a buxton long term deal for like 150

      Yeah I feel the same way I think he’ll still be great but he just needs to keep the ball in the park

    It COULD be a longer injury, but on the flip side the Twins have always said that they would call up Lee when he was ready, and he certainly seems ready. Lee certainly has a few weeks, and looking out beyond that, I can see long-term room if the Twins actually decide to be sellers during the trading period. Not fire-sale sellers, but moving 2 of the 3 veteran road-blocks on their roster (something made a bit easier by those vets, aka Margot, Farmer, and Santana playing better recently) for some bullpen help, and opening up room for Lee to stay even after Lewis comes back. Plus make room for the most effective combination of Wallner, Julien, and maybe even Severino as needed. Love Farmer as a person, but he reminds me a LOT of Schoop in this scenario; when Arraez came on the scene the Twins cleared a path.

    I think they brought him up to see if he can replace Kyle farmer cause he plays every position he does but better

    • @TomFroemming
      @TomFroemming  3 месяца назад +1

      The tricky thing is Farmer is barely playing. So while you can just replace him with Lee on the roster, you need to also figure out who else you’re taking playing time away from. At the moment, that looks like it’d be Larnach (with Willi going out to primarily play LF).
      Of course, somebody else might get hurt between now and when Royce returns, and that would sorta solve that question on its own. We’ll see, there’s lots of depth.

      @@TomFroemming what I was thinking is you start Lee at 2b Miranda at 3b that when Royce comes back he goes back to 3b Miranda then becomes your DH or 1b when Santana needs a breaks with willi splitting time in the OF and Martin is super utility with him

    • @TomFroemming

      What are you doing with Willi?

  • @robertharrie4513

    Just to keep Festa’s first two outings in perspective, Montero for the Tigers has pitched poorly prior to last night but looked pretty solid yesterday so there is certainly hope for Festa. The grand slam he gave up was a high fastball that was actually above the strike zone so not a totally terrible pitch. He has some talent but needs to adjust to MLB hitters

    • @TomFroemming
      @TomFroemming  3 месяца назад

      That's a good callout. Yeah, 96 mph above the zone. It was center cut, but still.
      And before the grand slam, Festa did get a groundball that would have ended the inning if Willi was playing a step to his right. Instead, Castro had to dive and stopped it, but couldn't get it over to first in time. It wasn't a good outing for Festa, but there are enough "what ifs" to where I think it's easy to envision things going more his way the next time out.

    Once Royce is ready Lee can take an ABs Farmer might take. Injuries always happen too…

    Can we get a Yoga or Pilates instructor on staff…heck I would take a Tai Chi Master for Royce Lewis. Also we don’t need no stinkin video highlights to enjoy these recaps.
