Hot 97 played this and knew right away it was Legend. His voice is amazing. Soul Bro
Beautiful. No music, screaming, or nothing
Beautiful. Tears. Thank You Sir. God Bless!
I just been through 10 post of people singing that song and he's the only one that's sung it right
I just did the EXACT same thing. A lot of well-known stars too! I just wanted to hear it the right way without all the added runs and stuff. It's nice and all but not the way I was looking for.
Leontyne Price, 1994 Presidential Medal of Freedom winner, sings it beautifully.
The composer of this song is Dian Rubianti...
the way John Legend singing this song just the way i sang this song melody when i created (composed) this song melody... of course in woman version and my character vocal..
Beautiful John, beautiful.
Beautiful John, thank you. Profound musical genius Jon Batiste brilliantly wove this song into the US national anthem for the opening of the NBA season. John and Jon: uplifting the nation!
YES Mr. Legend! YES❣️
I just love the Grace and Spirit you sing this anthem! Thanks John Legend!

Beautiful. I would love to use this in our 8th grade graduation!
Amazing.
His voice is so soothing
Lift every voice and sing
Till earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on till victory is won
Stony the road we trod
Bitter the chastening rod
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of…
Nice voice
Beautiful lyrics.
Why does nobody sing the whole song?? It’s two parts my 3grade teacher engraved this song in my soul..
it's like the national anthem. no one sings the whole thing.
Perfection, as always.
Gifted!!!
Thanks. Classic.

Happy Juneteenth!
Oh say can you see, a kids bike just for me.
I will clip the bike chain, and blast me some t-pain
With shiny stones in our grills and names like shaqwandrill.
And the police man's red flairs, and some fresh Nike airs on a bike that I stole with a blunt I will roll.
This is jive!
This would be/have been a great song/anthem for the protesters to sing
along the marches-especially standing at Lafayette Square! Remember "We
Shall Overcome," "We Are The World," "Get Up, Stand Up," Legend's
"Glory," and some sang recently, "Lean On Me"? A unifying anthem that
travels around the world is needed. All past effective protests in
history have had them, as music finds a special place in the hearts and
minds of people. Churches, universities, coaches, the military,
governments, etc., use simple repeating anthems/songs to unify over and
over and over again until the song becomes a powerful motivating force
for action and gives energy for the protest to last. We need a song
that we sing when rising in the morning and sing in our dreams and
doesn't let us forget the inequities and cruelty in our society and
beyond.
Thank you I needed to hear that song in these times, and done well might I add.
Love this man. But you don't have time to sing the whole song?
✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You better sang John!
Amazing how he never went thru Puberty
Happy Juneteenth
wrong. WRONG! give me "who did that to you". thats what im talkin bout.
I've tried a few different versions of this and dont get it I'm going back to rap and hip hop
These are all adults
Is this guy still Ballin out protesters.
To be sung before NFL games
Ive heard better much ijs
Why doesn't it mention anything about America? Smfh
bc it's a spiritual..?
Must be hard for John Legend to identify with his white mother and his Thai and Norwegian son. Now i see why he has no control over his family
It's so sad that you really think that. He's thriving and doing just fine
His mother isn't white, she's definitely black. We're from the same city and I know them personally
George lovett did it better
Stop it this is all white people music sing Ain't No Stopping Us Now at least black people wrote that
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Weldon_Johnson
Check your facts. The writer was written by a Black guy to honor Booker T Washington and this song became popular in the early 1900’ and the NAACP adopted and promoted it as the “Negro National Anthem.”
A black man wrote this poem.. Girl do your homework. Using a Smart phone for idiocy is unacceptable. Google
this is gross
Please, enlighten me as to how this is gross. Firstly, it’s art and it isn’t hurting anyone except for maybe your fragile ego. Secondly, our “national anthem” was not written for ALL Americans.
Kindly keep your white supremacy out of here.
Amazing.
Nice song ..
