- My first vid/slideshow ever. My favorite song from my favorite band of all time, The -B-52's. Cindy Wilson does the vocals on this track. From the album "Bouncing Off The Satellites", 1986. The final album to include Cindy's brother, Ricky Wilson before he passed away.

Cindy said she wanted to write a country song
but she kept putting things like UFOs in it LOL!!
*_Bouncing Off Satellites_* is a great bittersweet
epic! Love her voice so much... 📡📡📡
Sinead O'Connor did an amazing cover of this song. RIP 💜
Never forget the day in the summer I played that song at full volume in my car stopping at a red light. When the guy behind me jumps out of his car and asked me. I smiled at him and said: this is the incredible B52s my friend!
Nobody I know that listens to the b-52's even KNOWS this song, but I fell in love with it, and now it's like having a secret song of my own!
A totally underestimated song. Words cannot express how just listening to this song makes me feel....
Amen! It’s on my Top 50 all time best songs. And I listen to everything from Nirvana to John Coltrane to Hendrix to Beethoven….
Sometimes I actually have this specific feeling and this is the only song that fits into the space that needs to be filled. It’s like I actually need it. It’s hard to put into words, but it has this strange nostalgic aura to it
I get it
I guess I'm not the only one!
Totally ....... my fiancé passed away last year and this was one of the only songs I could listen to for a long time.....it still makes me cry when I hear it..........
most of the people knows this band for the few hits.... but what a massive back catalogue they have!! so many beautiful songs!
Poignant song from them. So much more so with Ricky singing prominent backing to his sister.
Cindy's vocal masterpiece.
Simply the perfect song to hear on a long drive to nowhere...
Anyone who likes this song could be my friend. It pulls me in, like much of their music. I know I am amongst kindred spirits.
Ever since 1980, i have been stuck with The B-52’s. Probably the best track from Bouncing Off The Satelittes. Love this underatted track, should have been a no. 1 hit.
Such a great song. No one’s voice can break your heart like Cindy Wilson.
One of the roughest and most difficult song for me to get through ~ it always leaves me with a broken heart. Even if the first line is, “Flying saucers could land and wouldn’t make much difference to my man.” Put in context of the time, Ricky died right before its release, ugh! So horribly painful. Not many bands truly have their own genre, B~52,s do.
Such a photogenic band.. Cindy was an utter babe
omg C-C-C-C-Cindy
Absolutely! Those big, gorgeous eyes!!
Is.. an utter babe, get it right
@@inestima1 im not sure there are any 64 year old "babes" and i really dont think Cindy would object to my phrasing in this case
@@keefsmiffshe can call me anytime
This song and Topaz are absolutely my favorite 52's songs.
Sad, poignant & beautiful song. Cindy's melancholy vocal is just heart wrenching. Both girls should be given more praise & overdue respect for their incredible voices.
I agree, and we looooove them.
Immpecable voices; like two angels singing to your heart and soul.
kate is worth over 150 million dollars...i think shes respected plenty
Absolutely adorable!
Beautiful stuff.
I feel if the B52s had only ever recorded this one song, it alone would have been sufficient to earn them lasting respect...! Poignant, distinctively voiced & played, perfect.
This is heartbreaking beautiful ❤ there is only one Cindy Wilson ❤
My favourite b52s song can play it over and over Cindy's voice gives ya chills
Under rated album to
It turns 35 this year
One of the best things The B-52s ever recorded. Whenever I hear it, it sounds like a Top 10 hit Billboard radio single from the mid-80s that got released in an alternate universe, yet, We still could hear its power in Our world. Truly, ain't it a shame...
agreed
This album is so important; what underrated song!. You can hear the grief, emotion, and pain in Cindy’s voice. Her brother Ricky had just died of AIDS in 85’ during this albums inception and its release in 86’.
A lot of emotion here and one that makes me cry, every time I listen to it. Hands down one of my top 3 favorite bands.
What an incredibly beautiful song from such an immensely important band. And to everyone listening; what a time to be alive ❤️
HELL YES!!!
WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!
17 yrs old surfing days/ concerts at nite. Ripping around in my 1971 sassygrass green plymouth roadrunner!!!
Listening to KROQ and the B-52's😃😃😃😃😃🤘🤘🤘
Thank you❤
Losing beautiful friends monthly at that time. It was horrifying.
cindy was/is a beauty queen!
IMHO this is the group's best album. I consider it among my top ten. For reference, I gauge a "best" album by the frequency I am in the mood to hear it. Some of the songs on this are true gems. No music collection is complete without "Bouncing Off the Satellites".
This is my favourite B52's song! Ain't It A Shame is an understated masterpiece.
+Chris Paulsen i know right
True
Totally agree with you there Chris - It brings back amazing memories too - Im in a band, Im going to cover it!
Totally agree
I like the Fats Domino version better.
Emotionally takes me back to Dance This Mess Around and Give Me Back My Man. Cindy has such a longing in her voice when she wants to put it out there. Simply a beautiful song beautifully sung..by a beautiful woman! When she closes her eyes and sings, you can feel her channeling her own experiences and laying them out for all to hear. This is what music is supposed to do. RIP Ricky....
Dear Ricky, you still here, in the heart of many many hearts. Love.
This track jumped out at me when I first heard the album. Revealed a different side to the B's songwriting skills, another string to their soulful bow.
This and She Brakes for Rainbows are my favorites. Never get old
All you awesome Cindy fans... Check out her singing "I Put A Spell On You". She's incredible
A completely underrated masterpiece.
This slide show is a reminder of how gorgeous Cindy was when she was young. Not that she was ever bad looking, but the photo with the tiara... She's simply stunning. I always loved it when Cindy sang lead because her vocal chords have always been attached directly to her heart.
So glad to discover this. Signed: B52s fan who thought they only produced 2 albums.
I could listen to this classic all day. A summer drive in the country. The slow, easy side, of the hard rockin B52’s.
All my deeper 80’s band had such hidden gems. B7’s, Oingo, Romeo Void among some many others.
Sooooo many good songs! I could come up with some serious playlist's for radio play. Can you imagine some real people getting together and doing late 50's thru 60's 70's 80's and 90's on a just a regular FM radio station again. The Spirit of the Radio would live again ... i'm in ...
Romeo Void 💖
Goosebumps. Ricky Wilson... thank you x We can hear your beautiful soul played out in Cindys voice and throughout the track.
Ricky did some of the background vocals in this song and others in the album (There For A Nude Beach and She Brakes For Rainbows).
The song is called 'Ain't it a Shame', yet Cindy sings 'Ain't I ashamed'. This puzzled me for a long while.
I get it now! Its deep irony. She says: 'Oh, I've been unkind (not like you). Ain't I ashamed (being misused).'
Seeing it as a dialogue, not a monologue, it makes sense. One of the most brilliantly conceived pop lyrics ever!
from the distophyan 2023.. I discovered this son a few weeks ago... is soooo magical. is an amazing song
I absolutely love around 3 dozen B-52 songs but there is something about this song that makes it my fav. Yeah it repeats but it's hypnotic to me, all meloncholy and haunting and with wry humor too
Cindy's sound's so good here......
My favorite album from the B's. It was a sad time for the band, with Ricky passing. But what glorious tunes came out of the band at this difficult time.
These guys never had a depressing song, but this is probably as close as they came. Had this stuck in my head all day!
"Cosmic Thing" had a lot of poignant songs. You could feel their mourning for Ricky underneath all the bouncy music.
They are really about having fun and enjoying life as best we can but sometimes you got to weep.
Yeah, buddy just might jerk a tear!
TearJerker..Period. The "2's" are In My DNA. I'll Always Be A Fan.
forget their hit singles. this is where it's at
I love this stuff!
Yes people!
Really
Truth
aw man ive just found this absolute classic can tell tell straight away that its getting stuck in my head haha
My favorite of every song of theirs.
Listen to the words. It's pitiful.
such a beautiful sad song
When I had my boat this tape was the first we would put in. Full blast to hear it over the engine roar....great summer....
Such a beautiful song - so filled with longing... one of their very best tunes... makes me cry every time...
I am in love with The B52's!!
I wish they were still around.. ☹️💔
grief and power. this IS one of the songs that brings the death of a loved one home again .
love you.x
absolutely a masterpiece, the cry of the human spirit
goosebumps! when she starts singing. - awesome! her singing is heartbreaking beautiful - the whole spirit of this band is the pure beauty of mankind!
My favorite song off bouncing off the satelites!!😍
Quelle émotion, quelle mélancolie dans la voix, j'aime beaucoup Cindy c'est certainement une bonne personne.
This is probably my favorite B-52's song. Bouncing Off The Satellites was so grossly underrated. Musically it was a superior effort. Great vocals by Cindy. I always wondered how this would be different if Kate sang it....
Bruce Lager but that was due to Ricky's dead. The group stopped its career. There wasn't touring and zero promotion record. They just retaken their work in 1989.
if Kate sang this song??? Not way! this is a Cindy's song. Besides, Cindy's voice is much more beautiful than Kate's, please.
It wouldn't be the same. It would still be beautiful but not the same.
By the way, BOTH Kate's and Cindy's voice are beautiful. Neither is better than the other and both are better than ANY other. Nuff said and don't hate.
that wil be dindys song for eternity
Fred singing the low notes background harmony is pretty cool and really adds a nice and uniquely Fred touch
It's not Fred, its actually Ricky
@@kevinsingel7062 / Wow I always assumed it was Fred because Ricky died about a month after they finished recording this album... Now that breaks my heart, Ricky's guitar was what got me hooked on the B52's and just thinking about him makes me mourn a bit
I really love the band...love Cindy in Give me Back My Men and Song for a Future Generation...miss Ricky...Regards from Chile.
I love that passionate cry/ plee for her man
The B-52's are exceptionally talented in my opinion and i'm usally right.
Yes Madame.
Claudia, I love you for Loving this song hotrodcharlie.us
I love them too.
The pictures flow so perfectly with the song
Masterpiece. I remember a haboob overtaking me enroute back to LA from Phoenix and Tucson while this played in my car cassette. I just sat there in the "fog" of dust for five minutes while this played.
Flying saucers could land
And it wouldn't make much difference to my man
I could walk aboad and thank the Lord
And leave this damn town in seconds flat
Check my bags and never come back
Oh, our love is
Like a fuse that's burned out
Oh, our love is
Like a fuse that's burned out
Oh, I've been unkind
Not like you
Ain't I ashamed
Being misused
Oh, our love is
Like a fuse that's burned out
Oh, our love is
Like a fuse that's burned out
I liked your Chevy Duster
I liked your brand new trailer
I liked your colour TV
But you looked at that colour TV
More than me
More than me
Oh, our love is
Like a fuse that's burned out
Oh, our love is
Like a fuse that's burned out
Take me with you!
One of my most favorite songs! Love the B52s
This is such an incredibly beautiful song. It is my favorite from this album.
One of the most beautiful songs by the B52’s!
A commemorative song to their beloved fellow member who passed way too early!
What makes the B52’s such a remarkable band is their ability to be so funky in a heavy cutting edge manner and at the same time create the most thoughtful and sweet music!
A mark of an outstanding and truest creative band!
Just love this song!
Great song....love Cindy s vocals on this
It's hard to belive there are so many people who thought what I thought when I first heard this song. It breaks my heart in the most beautiful way. It's wonderful. And the production sound is spooky and dreamy. I like to sing the male part sometimes. And then, there's the harmonica... lovely
Oops. It's probably not a harmonica, but a melodica. Similar instrument.
Absolutely their best, best, best. And of course Cindy was only one who could sing it. : )
love them but cindy is goddes
I'm in love with her.
Well she's just adorable; what else can we say?
this song is bittersweet, it's a sad song that makes me think of better days.....
Yeah boy!
Probable my favorite US pop rock new wave band. This song that I used to listen over and over again when I lived in Orlando in 1987. Love from France. André Pierre
This is my favourite out of all their songs too
mine too
An all time favorite.
Thank you for sharing one of the best B-52's songs that highlights the talent of Cindy Wilson as a soloist. Having the most emotionally expressive voice of the B-52's, this song perhaps features her the very best. Along with this great song, you've added in photos of the band that are hardly ever seen, if ever. In fitting tribute to the time period this song was recorded, the photos of Cindy and Ricky Wilson are particularly poignant. Quite understandably, "Bouncing Off the Satellites" was an album that was never properly promoted following Ricky's death. Thankfully, the band have begun singing more songs from it on their recent tours, giving it the airtime it deserves.
Yeah, amazing spirit!
Amazing song from a supercool band xx
Love all the old photos of the way they evolved together.
warlock242 me too
Guessing a Skinny Puppy & Front 242 fan? Commenting on a B-52s video? Awesome. Much appreciation for folks with diverse musical taste.
Spot on mate. Listened to the B-52s since '85 and 242 since '88, and found Skinny Puppy a year later :-)
...this song is perfect...no more words to say...
So many great songs since I first saw them in Central Park in the Summer of 1980 :) Fantastic show ~
Always loved this one.
This song is amazing at conjuring up atmosphere.
Details give the impression of a struggling couple living in a distant trailer park out in the middle of the open somewhere...
I love that open line about boarding a flying saucer... my second fave part is her wistfully singing, "...I like your brand new trailer... I like your color TV... but u look at that color TV more than me... more than me..." & then u just hear that sad sound of a TV droning on in the background...
Great pictures! Thank you. I miss you Ricky.
Lord that makes me cry... it's not a bad thing... they are so awesome.
2 Cassettes & 2 Albums worn out ... and I STILL can't get enough of this! A Brilliant song with Amazing Vocals.
cindy was so fukng beautiful
Still is !!!!
I saw this and got geeked over "was" lol
Happy New Yers Eve. The day hasn't started off right. Well maybe it has as I'm still here and listening to the B52's To a fantastic 2016. Peace and Happiness to all.
Smile and dance when you can.
Jackie Williams your bad New Years Eve, 2016 was an omen for a rotten year. But we can still listen to this at least.
Lovely song and Voices
Great slideshow job. Wonderful song. Cindy was my style icon - so like mine. #SheRo
So glad to see that there are others who hold this album as the B's best or at least one of their best albums. I also love She Breaks For Rainbows. I soooooooooo love The B-52s
Tim Love
She Brakes For Rainbows is probably my favorite Cindy song. It gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. 😍
Tim Love I like this album but I think the best B-52 album is a toss up between wild planet and good stuff. Those two, along with this, are soooooooo great and sooooooooo unrecognized.
Me too!
You are so right !
I don't know about the "best" (that honor might go to the first 2 albums). But it is definitely one of their more underrated albums.
Thank you B-52s so much for the great music...❤
They are eternally modernist. Saludos desde México.
Chucho Satánico I love you Mexicans
Si Senor
Love it.
This song makes me feel sad. Wonderful and melancholy. I miss the two who have passed to the realm of rock and roll.
This is my favorite B-52's song ever! I still get goose bumps listening to that beautiful voice! Love the slide show too! Thank you for posting this!
Sounds beautiful!!💜
This song gets me every singe time. Love this song & the album
Great Musical group.... dynamic spiritual sounds... beautiful singers...
Easily one of my fave B-52's songs from certainly my fave album by them. I hate that they were so sad after the release of "Bouncing off the Satellites" ...but we all know why.
Don't you know they are from Mars?
Or one of the seven stars ✨
Like Only One Of The Best Bands Ever!!!
Agreed!
This came to be my favorite song by these guys.
Listen to the words. Heartbreaking.
My High School days here...music was great back then...
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Like, among the Top 10 favorite songs I've heard in my life.
Cindy sounds good.
